He says, hey, this is not right, this is wrong. And he said, I determined that I'm gonna serve God. And when you determine that you're gonna serve God, it's not just a decision that you make that's not gonna have any repercussions, if you would. You see, when we determine that we're gonna serve God, choose you this day whom you will serve, Joshua said, when I determine that I'm on the Lord's side, it's going to affect me in my life. It's going to affect where I go, and what I do, and what I say, and it's going to affect what I accept. And sometimes we have to say, you know, that is wrong. That is not right. And why do we know that? Because of what the Bible says. And if I live in the reality of a real God at work, an omnipotent God in heaven, I say, you know what, I'm on his side and I'm gonna take a stand for right in my society regardless of who says it's right, whether it's right or wrong, what does the truth of the word of God say? And again, so much more we could say. Secondly, when I believe in the reality of a God in heaven, There's a God in heaven. Number two, not only will I take a stand, but number two, I will seek the Lord. Daniel asked for time. Why did he ask for time? He asked for time that he might make known the interpretation. He understood, verse 28, that there's a God in heaven that can make this dream known. And so Daniel says that he wants to take time, verse 18, he goes to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Hanani, Meshach, and Azariah, and he says, hey, we need to desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret that we should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Daniel determined that there is a God alive and well in heaven. And Daniel said, hey, in the society that I'm facing, if we can't interpret this dream here, we're going to be dead with the rest of the wise men in Babylon. So he gets the Hebrew children together, and he says, we are going to seek God. One of the greatest privileges that we have is to seek Him. If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, right? Turn from their wicked ways and seek my face. God is able, God is able to do anything. There's nothing too hard for the Lord. And the challenges that we face is we have not because we ask not. Prayer makes a difference. And we think, wow, this nation is huge, and there's so many people, and we're just a little. And do you know what? God hears the prayer of the little. Little is much when God is in it. And we might not think that our prayer tonight can make a difference, but I believe it can. We see throughout the Word of God, the prayers of God, the faith. A little girl said to the king there, if you'll go see Elijah or Elisha, whichever one it is, he'll heal you. And he did. You see the faith of a young girl. We think concerning all that we have at our fingertips, Daniel said, hey, we're going to seek this God in heaven. And I'll tell you this, let me just encourage you to evaluate your time. We are meeting with the men on Sunday mornings concerning leadership. And when you go to a financial person and say, I need help with the budget or whatever, they will give you a paper, and a good one will, and they'll say, track your spending for a week or a month. And when you track your spending, you recognize, wow, I'm spending money in areas maybe I shouldn't. Hey, let me challenge you to track your time. What do you do with your time? You know, there's a lot of things that you can do on this here phone. Now, I don't have lots of the things that some people have, and that's by design. Number one, I don't want to get mad. My daughter said that if you know what's going on out there, some of it, you'd probably get really mad. And I probably would. I'd get burdened. I probably don't know the half of, really, where our society is. But I don't want to spend time where, too much time where I don't need to. The reality is this, we all have more time than we think to spend time in prayer. I wonder if we would be less on the phone, or less in front of, watching movies, or whatever, and had we spent that time in prayer, how much more we'd see God do something. Why do we have to wait until there's a tragedy? Why do we have to wait until somebody's laying on a hospital bed before we're willing to give ourselves to prayer for that individual? We got a country that's on its way to hell fast. We need mercies of the God of heaven. I appreciated Ernie's prayer this morning as he, in his heart, just came out for America. And really, that's where we all ought to be. We ought to be burdened. I read an illustration. I'm sure I've shared this before. J. Oswald Sanders, The Power of Prayer. He said, in 1947, while I was traveling on horseback in central China, with Fred Mitchell. We came to a spot that was notorious as a robber hideout. The missionary accompanying us was keeping a lookout. Suddenly we came upon a body lying beside the path. The victim was obviously not long dead. A few days later, I received a letter from my wife asking whether we had been in a danger on a date and a time she named. On that particular night, she had been suddenly awakened with a strong impression that I was in danger. She rose and prayed until the burden lifted and peace returned. On consulting my diary, he said, I discovered that this midnight prayer synchronized with the time we were passing through that robber-infested area. God had heard and answered the prayer of safety from his wife. I tell you there's so much more that we can tap into if we'll just pray. And Daniel's in a situation here and he says we're going to beg God. And then number three, and I think this is important, if you look at the difference between Ariok and Daniel in their responses when God blesses and gives Daniel the interpretation. Daniel gives all the credit and the glory to God. Verse 23, I thank Thee and praise Thee, O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has made known unto me what we desired of Thee. You have made known unto us the King's matter. Back at verse number 28, he gives the credit to the Lord again, and he says, these things belong to God. It's God that does it. Verse 37, the God of heaven has given thee a kingdom. When you look at Ariok's response in verse 25 of Daniel 2, he brought in Daniel before the king in haste and said to the king, I have found a man of the captives of Judah that will make known unto the king the interpretation. We think concerning Daniel and concerning, hey, one is I have found, the other is God has done this. And thirdly, when we believe there's a God in heaven, not only we take a stand, will we seek the Lord, but we will give God the credit that He is due when God hears and answers our prayer. it can be, I tell you, you watch the news, you see what's going on, and you think, this can be overwhelming. But then when I take a few steps back and I look at history, and I look at things in our nation even in years past, and then you go back further in history, and then you go back even to Bible times, Hey, every generation has had its challenges with the world, the flesh, and the devil. Every generation has had its challenges. But God has shown himself strong in every generation. He rose up His people, and God has made a difference. And I'm convinced that God wants to make a difference today in 2024, and God wants to use us. Small little church here. But our eyes aren't on us and our weaknesses. Our eyes are on God. There's a God in heaven and there is nothing too hard for the Lord. We have not because we ask not. Now I don't want to limit our prayer tonight. Whatever God burdens you to pray about or your group to pray about, please pray about it, okay?
