Coming up to Looning now. Little town of Looning. This is big though. This may be a little town, but it does have a rest stop here for some reason. There's a great big solar electric plant out there. Thousands of acres. And you can see a lot of horses or cattle out there to grind. Way out there. Probably cattle. They do have wild horses here also on antelope. Last time we came through here we saw a dead antelope. Elevation 4,480 feet. 25 more miles to Hawthorne. The looming trading post is probably not there. It won't look like it's been doing anything for a while. We'll stop in here for the rest of the area. Deep well trading post. There is the post office looming. They got a post office. What do you know about that? I didn't have to go. A lot of birds here. We're in Looning. Here's the Looning post office over here. We want to turn this camera on a little bit. Vending cold drinks and snacks. I don't know whether there's the Looning Post Office over there. A few old gift shops and things around here. The place has kind of fallen down. But they do have a real nice rest area. Doesn't look like too many people live here anymore. There's a hot rod for sale. There's somebody living back there in an old place. Looks like a nice old home. There's a nice shop. or mining tower coming up to another rope here and takes off 361 and that goes to uh Berlin Ichichsauer State Park That's a German name What? That's a German name Yes and then thousands ahead and gaps over there to the right. So there's that solar farm out there. Someone's got to live out here someplace that can work to take care of the solar farm. Big tall mountains ahead of us. Very, very heavily snow-capped. We'll be coming into all of these underground ammo dumpers pretty soon. The big ammo dump. It's a pretty high country in here, so there's a lot of snow. People like to use chains here a lot of times. Some people up here have two sets of tires, one for the winter and one for the summer. Sometimes the tires are studded, they have little metal nails in there. It's pretty good to see this big mountain up here. If the camera stays on, that is. It's been failing so much. It's getting old like me. The road's pretty bumpy because. When it snows or rains, some of the rain gets in the cracks in the highway and then it freezes and it busts up the highway. We've got a new windshield in here, so no specs on the windshield inside or outside right now. Except I don't think they put a tinted windshield back in here. That tall mountain will be a beautiful background for a while. You can go over this next hill over there. That's where the bumpers begin. These little road trip videos you can stay at home. Pretend you're going down the road. Tastes like ballet in my eyes. A little mining area up here or something. Highway 95. If you cross this mountain up here, this hill, you'll start seeing the bunkers. Got our cell phone power from one of these hills. Now we're in the largest ammo depot in the world. Hawthorne, the naval army weapons and ammo depot. This is 84 miles from our house. Hope they have a good dentist here and a good hospital. If you look out there, you'll see all the bunkers, out to the left and to the right also. Hundreds of bombers. If you can see them out there. All types of little weapons out here. Ammunition. Machine guns. Artillery guns. They have a little museum here also. Start going across up here. They have a railroad out here because they ship a lot of this stuff in and out by rail. We're coming into Hawthorne. Road is kind of rough here. of attraction. Ever so far, every part of the road is dedicated to somewhere. Right in front of us is Memorial Highway. On every mile, it's dedicated to something. If you look way out there, you'll see all the ammo dumps. There's 1,000. World War I veterans. World War II veterans. There weren't very many of them left. Very few. The Korean War. The war. Korean War veterans. Vietnam War veterans. They weren't called Vietnam War War for a long time, they called them convoys. I don't really care about the bushes anymore. Hopefully the camera will stay on long enough to do this. Here's the big base, Army and Navy base. It's still camping up. There's water coming down into that lake in different places. Navy. Navy Sea. They bake for workers over here all the time. A lot of people here are civilians. Many people have worked all their lives here and retired and kind of moved on, some of them. We're going to go to downtown. I'll turn here in a minute and I'm going to take the truck around. El Capitan, the best food in town. It probably is, that's where we go. 4,320 feet high. All hazardous material. This is a pretty good place to get a motel and things up in this area if you're going to be traveling and need some place to stop for a while. This is a less expensive place to do that. Sinclair Gas Station, that's usually where we get our gasoline. $3.87 a gallon. I think we'll go up here and get a few things at the market and then we're going to come back and eat at the El Capitan restaurant. Old Nevada pizza, which is pretty good. Dining and Bridgeport to the left. Here we go through downtown Hawthorne. My GPS system is talking to me, which I can't hear. It's making noise. Always telling me to turn in the wrong place. Which isn't cool at all. Used to be Maggie's Cafe there. Now it isn't. It was a good place to eat here at one time. rest area ahead there's the military museum cannons and artillery all types of stuff more guns There's a cemetery out there. We're going to have to do a video of that one of these days. There might be some war heroes out there. There probably are. Here's where we're going to go. We're going to go to Safeway. A lot of people came all the way from Fish Lake Valley here to go to the Safeway. We did today. We came here for the dental appointment, number one. There's the Department of Motor Vehicles there also. Right up here My GPS system trying to get me lost We're not gonna turn right turn left I And there's those beautiful mountains ahead of us. Turn left here, and we're going up to the hospital. There's an old Nevada pizza, which is pretty good. There's my friend's old shoe shop there. Shoe repair. That was WA-7, extra easy job. I wish I knew how to turn that thing off. Okay, we're up here. We've got to go to the dentist today. There's the Mineral County Courthouse. Turn in here at the Fire Department. Look at all those snowy mountains up there. There's one real big snowy mountain up there. Probably about 11,000 feet or 12,000 feet or something. There is the Mount Grant Medical Center. Right here, they were landing a helicopter the last time, Marilyn. I'll hatch it right here for you to get right out. Here we are. Well, we're in Hawthorne once again. We'll take you back down the main street to Hawthorne. You know, that store right there might have a mouse in it. Maybe. Maybe not. I doubt it. Maybe it would. Going by the casino, Dottie's Casino. Rod told me that Dottie's is a good place to eat there. What? He said Dottie's is a good place to eat sometimes. Oh yeah? Do you ever see whole chickens in the Safeway? Yes. It's on record right now. There's another little place up here to eat, right here someplace. Right back there, there's a little restaurant, little tiny thing. Need anti-aircraft guns there. I'll try it back here. There's a little eatery back here. We're gonna turn around here and there's the dollar store there by the way, Meryl. There's a little tiny restaurant made out of a boxcar. Peppers. If you're going to Hawthorne, maybe you might want to stop here. They say this is good food. Hamburgers, tacos, shakes, hot dogs, sodas, Philly steaks. And there's the prices right there. Turn around here. Oh, the menu's right there. Yeah, I said I'm going to go over there and the menu's right there. I'll look at that menu and put that menu right on here. There it is right there. Barbecue sides. Fish and chicken combos. Alright. Now we know there's another place to get ice cream if we want it. Peppers. It's called Peppers. Yeah. Another church. Bethel Baptist Church. Big flag. Baptist Church. Farms and Museums Now we'll go down this way USO building, that's pretty nice, isn't it? There's where we had lunch that day with a WA6EEG. I guess that barbershop might be open. A little too hot on here. Maybe that's the Elks Lodge. That elk up there, maybe that's what the Elks Lodge looks like. There's a lot of containers. River Wagon Motel got a swimming pool there now we're going out here by the military bases again with all of the Bunkers. We're a long way from White Mountain, but there that big rascal is. Over to the right. There's that big mountain up there, White Mountain. It's beautiful. It stands out, doesn't it? Yeah. We're going to go through a little mining town now. I think it's Looney. You might want to see that Pink Prairie Mountain. White Mountain is way in the background, but it is white. at Berlin. Next time, Yassar. Is this looning? Yes, this is looning. Not much here. If you blink 2 or 3 times, you'll be missing.
