For this morning's message, I'd like to ask you to turn to the book of Mark, chapter 5. Mark, chapter 5, beginning in verse 25. I have a series of messages that I took from hymns out loud. Hymns. I've got one on, there's nothing but the blood, and although I use the Bible, I just take the title from the hymn and use the hymn in the message. And one on, it is well with my soul. Now today I want to take this message from that dear old hymn, I must tell Jesus. Let's begin in verse number 25. And a certain woman which had an issue of but twelve years, and hath suffered many things of many positions, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing better, but rather grew worse. When she had heard of Jesus, she came in the press behind and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, And she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude pronging thee, and says thou who toucheth me, And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace. and behold of thy plague. Now dear God, I ask you to bless this message. Oh Father, I need help. I need, speak to us. I need strength. Now as this lady was in a desperate situation, many of us today, not only here, but all over Cumberland County, we're in a desperate situation. And I ask you, dear God, to speak to our hearts during this message. And glorify your Son, in Jesus' name, Amen. We have in this passage of Scripture a desperate woman. This woman has one of the worst scenarios that she can be placed in. Bible says she suffered many things. And suffered means just that, suffering. If you have good health, thank God for it. The Lord taught us, my family, about ill health since about 2005, the importance of it. And what a great blessing it is. But he also promised that he can get us through that. And he did. Many times. She had had much suffering in the hands of physicians. Now she went to the doctors, but they... and suffered many things of many physicians. So she not only had a suffering, but she suffered from the doctors too. This woman, she has exhausted all her means. She has used men's methods, but she's no better. As a matter of fact, the Bible says she's worse. Now this is a beautiful picture of a sinner that's trying to get saved by man's methods and man's religion. We're not going into that today. But you don't get any better, you get worse. And when the Lord told the parable of the wine bottles that burst, He said, you don't put a new patch on old wine bottles because it makes it worse. You don't put a new patch on an old garment. It makes it worse. And our garment is our righteousness. But Adam's garment is torn and ripped and it's threadbare. And we try to patch it up with religion and good works. But it makes it worse. Because we think we're saved. We think we're doing some good. We've got to have a whole new garment. The righteousness of Christ. Now she's exhausted everything. She spent everything she had, spent all her money, and she's grown worse. But she hears about Jesus, and buddy, she gets focused on him. Now, this is true belief. Now, she wasn't going to go to Jesus and say, now Jesus, I'd like to have an audience with you. I've got this issue of blood. I've been bleeding for twelve years. And can you do anything for me? Maybe I can dip seven times in Jordan. Or maybe you can lay hands on me. Maybe you can do this, that, and the other like in the Old Testament. She didn't say that. She said, if I can just touch His garment. That's how much faith that she had in the Lord Jesus Christ. If only we could get the medical field in America to get to this position, I believe it would make a lot of difference to people. One of the great things about some of the doctors that treated Brenda, in the very beginning, he came into the room with us. And he said, you've got cancer. It's a big, great big tumor. We're going to have to operate. He gave us all this dire prediction. I'm sitting there. Brenda said, oh, I think the Lord's going to pull me through this. That's what she said. The doctor said, he's a good one to have on your side. I got a whole sermon on that. He's a good woman to have on her son. And he was. Now that blessed old ham, she told Jesus all of her troubles. She told him the truth. This blessed old hymn says, I must tell Jesus all my troubles. I cannot bear these burdens alone. In my distress, he kindly will help me. He ever loves and cares for his own. I must tell Jesus all my troubles. He is a kind, compassionate friend. If I but ask Him, He will deliver and make of my troubles quickly an end. And this is the course. I must tell Jesus. I must tell Jesus. I cannot bear these burdens alone. I must tell Jesus. I must tell Jesus. Jesus can help me. Jesus alone. Nobody else can help her. You and I are going to, if you haven't already, you're going to get to a place where nobody can help you but Jesus. That's it. I remember seeing a documentary on Roy Rogers. Now some of you young people don't know much about Roy Rogers, but boy, he was a big hero to me. Then after I got born again, I found out that they were born, that they were saved. Roy and Dale Rogers were saved. She wrote a book called, she wrote two or three books, and one of them was Angel Unaware, about their little monogamous baby. They adopted children. And he told about the time his children, that they had adopted, they put them on a Christian bus, and they were going to a Christian camp. And they had a big blowout on the bus. And they had a terrible wreck. Killed three children. And Roy Rogers said, if you don't have Jesus at a time like this, I don't know what you're going to do. Where can you go at a time like this? The words of this great song tells us the answer to many of the problems that exist among the churches in these hard days. I suppose that there are no homes that are exempt from troubles and difficulties. There are very few individuals who've never experienced a hardship of some kind. Troubles are on every hand. They're everywhere. Our nation is so laden down with burdens, troubles, and trials Until just one more may very well sink us to the bottom of the sea of dismay." Boy, you can get down and be discouraged and dismayed. There's times when nobody else is going to be able to help you but Jesus. And this woman found out that. And she said, I'm going to get there somehow. But the press was all around her. So she got home, boy I can see her now just crawling to me. People looking down at her. I said, what are you doing? And she said, I can just touch you before I'm done. I'll be alright. There are some things that can only be told to Jesus. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth." I mean, your friends are good. Your best friends, though, will fail you sometimes. Your parents will even fail you. They don't mean to, they don't intend to, but they have a weakness called a pledge. And things happen. I never will forget my children. One time when I had failed them in some manner, I thought, oh man, I didn't mean to do that, it wasn't my intention. But Jesus will never fail. There's another psalm that goes like this. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. Leave it there, leave it there. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. Sometimes nobody else understands. But Jesus was tempted in all points like we are. yet without sin. So he understands. He has been there. He's been in the flesh. He has seen heartache. He has seen betrayal. He has seen backbiting. He's seen people leave him. He said to the disciples, will you also leave? Peter said, well, where would we go? You've got the words of eternal life. We don't have anywhere else to go. And He's the only one sometimes that understands. Now sometimes people do understand things. But there are some things that only He can understand. You can depend on Him. You can trust Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never let you down. The Bible says, For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek, and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto yourselves. That's what he said. Did he tell the truth? It was exaggerated? Oh, thank you, Lord. So sometimes no one else understands. Now, I'm going to talk a little bit about the Baptists. Jesus will never gossip back what you tell him in conflict. Boy, I hate this is on TV. I should have gone over here. Listen to me. Do you know that sometimes you tell something in confidence, and you say, don't you tell nobody? And they tell somebody. Well, I tell something in the first place that you know you should not be telling. You know, I shouldn't tell this, but so and so told me such a thing. You don't have to worry about that for Jesus. You can tell Him anything. You can pour out your heart to Him. Where else can you go at certain times? There's nowhere else to go. You've gone down the road, driving to work, and you're alone in the car. And you've talked with Him, told Him things. asking things. You had animal conversation with them. You've got a relationship with nobody else that you don't even have with anybody else. Not your mama, your daddy, your husband, your wife. You've got a special relationship with them that you ought to have. And you and your wife have a wonderful relationship together. Well, she has a special relationship with Christ. You have another special relationship with Christ. And the closer both of you get to Christ, the closer both of you get to each other. And you share things about your Lord and Savior with each other. I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus, There's something that only Jesus can understand. Because you can talk to your friends, your intimate acquaintances, your husband, your wife, and you get the feeling they just really don't understand. But Jesus does. Now if you have something that you must tell someone, tell it to Jesus. Even if it is gossip. Don't gossip, but if you got to gossip, tell it to the Lord. Amen. Better to tell Him than tell the world. If you would do all of your gossiping to Jesus, it would surely be much better. It might not even be true. You know how people are. But it's better to tell Him. Maybe you want to complain. Have you ever wanted to complain? Does the world treat you good? Does your boss treat you fair and good all the time? You want to complain? Your peer group? Complain to him. He will sympathize with you better than the other humans. I can hear it now. You're always complaining. What are you telling me here? What? That's right. You come across this whining, tell it to Jesus. Maybe something you have from your past that is gnawing at you. Tell it to Jesus. You ever had any guilt that's still there? And racking you with guilt? You wouldn't want to tell it to certain people, but you can tell it to Him. He'll understand. If you've got something bothering you, and you need to tell somebody, tell it to the Lord. And just pray about it. Talk to Him, because He understands. He is a friend that's well known. Another thing to consider is not only do we not have anywhere else to go, but there's nothing too large or too small for Jesus to handle. I mean, this woman was bleeding for 12 years. That is a long time, baby. And she said, you know, I've got to do something about this. So she hears about a doctor that can do something about it. So she takes money to him, and she gives him money. He's confident. He can't do anything about it. So she does this for 12 long years. Now that's a big problem. But she heard about Jesus. I don't know what else she heard, but something said to her I can take this problem to Him and He'll heal me. And so she goes out to get healed from Jesus. But there's a throng of people there. I'm just a woman, you know, this is a man's world. I'm just a woman. They're not going to push the people aside. And they're just thronged and thronged and thronged. And there's a multitude there. He's moving along there. She can't get to him. So somehow she gets down on her knees and she says, if I just touch his garment, he'll handle this big problem. And he did. I don't know who said this, but somebody said, no man ever sank under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow's burden is added to the burden of the day that the weight is more than he can bear. And sure enough, we can add to it and worry about something that's not even going to happen. But whatever it is, Jesus can take care of it. It's not too big. We got the power of omnipotence that created the universe and everything that's in it. By speaking it out, he didn't take a big construction company and construct the earth and all the planets, hauling dirt in and packing things in and planting trees. You know how long it would take? to plant trees, build an office building, and all those things. He just spoke it. He said, let there be light. And there was light. Let this happen. Let that happen. So why would we say that he couldn't handle our problem? There's nothing to be. Now, some people complain about everything. The light at the end of the tunnel is a headlamp of an oncoming train. Oh no! So we need to come to the Lord Jesus as this desperate woman. I must tell Jesus, now there was a widow lady and she was being visited by the pastor. of the church. And during the course of the visit, she said, yeah, that's right. These things are happening in our household. She said, I must tell Jesus about that. And a little later on, something else would come up, and she said, I must tell Jesus about that. And she said that about three times. And when that preacher went home, he wrote this song after. That's where it comes from. This woman had such a wonderful personal relationship with Christ. She talked about him like he was just... I'm going to tell him that. He was real to her. He was real. I'm going to tell Jesus about that. Who's that? He's my friend. I'm going to tell him that. I talk to him every day. When Brenda first found out she had this big tumor and we're going to have to go into emergency surgery, I was in the room and had come in and said, we've got to take her out now. And I thought, what's going on here? Well, the doctor had called me on the phone, and before I could tell her, they brushed in, they took her out of the room. And boy, I was in tears. I was devastated. They said, there's a weight room down here. And I sat down there. I wasn't going to know what was going on. I thought she might die in the next few days. I was just devastated. And here comes this real kind nurse in. And she said, do you want to talk to a chaplain or anybody? I said, no, I'm going to talk to the Lord about it. She said, I'm ain't a real person. That's what she said. I said, lady, he's just as real to me as you are. Amen. And he was. When they got done with her, she had to be in intensive care. I was in that intensive care waiting room. Because they don't let you go in for a few minutes, I mean a few hours a day. A few minutes, truth be told. And I'm sitting there praying, it's about 4 o'clock in the morning, and I said, Lord, I need some help. And I prayed and prayed and prayed, and then when I finished, I opened up my Bible, I was reading through it, I was in the book of Job. And I opened up that scripture where Job was suffering, and where God was going to bring him out of his suffering, and I saw that right then. He helped me right then! And a few weeks later, they couldn't get her off of the ventilator. And they said, if we don't get her off the ventilator after so many days, we're going to have to take her to a rehab facility. And boy, I got to praying. I can't find those scriptures now, but the first scripture says she's going to be alright, she'll be alright. I'm going to rescue her. It was 4 o'clock in the morning. Well, her doctor was an unusual doctor. She would come around at 4 o'clock in the morning off her rounds. The other doctors would be 7, 8, 9, 10 o'clock. She was at 4 o'clock going around all around. And she came in and she said, She's got a drug rash. I'm taking her off these drugs. She took her off of that drug, and I'm here to tell you, it might have been 30 minutes, 45, that rash cleared up, she cleared up, they took her off the ventilator, and we got out of there. We were out of there within 8 hours after God showed me that scripture. And some heathen, intellectual, It's going to tell me the Bible's not so, and God doesn't answer prayer, and God don't speak to you. Don't talk to me that way. I know that's wrong. There are times, where else can I go? Nobody else can help. I went to him. And he talked to me. And he just agreed with me as somebody else in the room. The greatest problem we have today in the church is that we really don't believe or trust God. We want man's or woman's advice over what God says. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. That's what he said. Is it true or not? Amen. Who's come? All ye that labor and are heavy laden. And buddy, there's coming a time in my life, in your life, in everybody's life, you're going to be heavy laden, buddy. When that was going on, let me tell you something, I felt like I was just bent over. I felt like I was a wet washcloth. All my life I've been able to handle problems. I hear a problem, how long we handle it? If I couldn't handle it, I'd get something I couldn't handle. I would get a book, I'd get something, I'd do something. I was the man of the house. It was my job to fix the roof, the commode, the car, a flat tire, whatever come on in life, I could reach and grab it. We had bills to pay. I could do the budget. I could do what a man's supposed to do. But I couldn't do nothing here. I was helpless. I had nowhere else to turn but the Lord Jesus Christ. I must tell Jesus all of my time, take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. Most of the time, people look for someone who will agree with their own thoughts. I've had that many times. I've had young men in the ministry, or in Bible school, saying, now, Brother Scooter, should I do this or that? I said, now, Brother, the typical way to handle it is to do such and such. But that wasn't what they wanted to hear. And many people's like that. I went to some of those teachers at my Bible Institute, and I said, I was looking for approval. I wanted them to approve, but I'd already decided. And they said, now, Bruce Cooper, you didn't do this, that, and the other. I said, but why? Well, I'd go away sorrowful, conflicted. Sometimes I'd go with their advice, and sometimes I wouldn't. And when I went with their advice, things turned out right. When I didn't, down the road, I said, I should have listened to him. We want someone to help us feel better. We need to go to the Lord. If you have some unknown health problem, you don't go to just any person and seek to find out what's wrong. You go to somebody that knows the best thing. And if you've got a problem on this earth, the best place to go is the Lord Jesus Christ. Be careful about going to just anyone. If someone comes to you and says, I have a problem, can I talk to you for a moment? First thing you ought to say, have you talked to the pastor? Have you talked to the Lord about it? Satan is very subtle, be careful. Sometimes we go to the doctor and he tells us the bad news. We are overweight, high blood pressure, cholesterol, under-exercising, eating the wrong foods. He gives us a brochure with all the instructions for curing our ailments. including a yucky diet and some kind of dumb exercise. We go to church, tell everybody about this wonderful doctor, but then we don't do anything. Or sometimes we do. But when the pastor says you have a spiritual problem, you need to get more involved, The preacher's meddling. He's a fanatic. He's out of touch with reality. So when a doctor gives you physical advice, he's a good guy. Wonderful. But when a preacher gives you spiritual advice, it gets on your nerves. Now what was Jesus' commendation to this lady? He said, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace. Be whole of thy flesh. She got rewarded for going to Jesus. She will always be rewarded for going to Jesus. I'm talking to some people today who need to know that their faith hath made them whole so that they can go in peace. You're not going to have peace unless you're born again and living according to this book. It's just not going to happen. You're going to have turmoil, conflict. What if Jesus were standing here tonight or this morning and said, thy faith hath made me whole, would you believe it? What if he said, go in peace? What would you do? I must tell Jesus all of my trials. I cannot handle these burdens alone. Sometimes some men, it's hard for them to admit that. I've always been able to handle a problem. But buddy, I couldn't handle that one. I had to go to him. Plead him that the one thing I knew, if I could get a hold of him, he would fix things. And Brenda said, there she was laying in that bed, she said, I believe the Lord can cure me of this and get me out of it. She believed that. And the doctor said, well, he is a good one to have on your side. And so I went to work. I had nowhere else to go. And today we looked at the fact that there are some things that can only be told to Jesus. You can't tell anybody else. He's the only one. There are some things... He's the only one that can handle a situation. And we know that there's nothing too large or too small for Jesus to handle. If you're a child here today, say you're in the first grade or younger, I encourage you to pray about the little things in your life, no matter where it is. Now, your mom and dad, some of the grown-ups, may think that's too little, too childish. You pray, don't you listen? Pray to Jesus about the little things. When I was on board ship, we had a little church out on board ship, and one of the fellas, he was a grown man, but he said when he was a little boy, They went to Sunday school and said if two or three agree together, he can make it so. And so he prayed that night before he went to bed for a pony. He said, I need a pony. I want a pony real bad. And when he got up the next day, his mom and dad said, honey, we can't afford a pony. We don't have anywhere to put him. We don't have a field out there or anything. We're just living in a neighborhood. We don't have a pony. And I can't afford a pony. But he craved a pony. You know what happened? The next morning, he looked out the window. He told me a second story. He looked out the window. There was a pony in the yard. And boy, he jumped up and got all excited and told his mom and dad. They looked out and sure enough, there was a pony in the yard. And they just were astonished. And it was somebody's pony that got out and was coming in the yard. But they didn't try to squash his face. They told him, they said, this is just the Lord trying to tell you, you know, I can answer prayer. This is not the time, but I can answer prayer. That was in North Carolina. Sometimes you don't have anywhere else to go but to the Lord Jesus. I'll close with this. I was listening to... Right now, the evangelist escapes me. If I call his name, y'all remember him. It comes to me in a minute. Mays Jackson. Mays Jackson was preaching a series of, a week of meetings in North Carolina, close to Norfolk, Virginia. Litchfield City or somewhere up in there. And the first night, he preached on it. Two or three days a year, I'll answer that prayer. And when he got done, he was signing the Bible down at the bottom, and here comes a little 11-year-old boy and said, Brother Mase, is that true? He said, yeah, that's true. He said, well, my daddy's not saying it. Well, you pray with me. Did my daddy get saved? He said, I sure did. So he got down on his knees and he prayed. The next night, he comes down. That was Monday night. First night, Sunday. The next night, Monday night. They went down early. Third night, here come his mother with him. And Brother Mays wanted to ask a few questions about the day. She said, Brother Mays, he's in the Navy. He's out at sea right now. And I don't know how he's going to get saved. And oh Lord, Brother May said, oh boy, I'm going to destroy the faith of this little boy. He said, I want my baby saved in this meeting here. And so the next night, he come down that aisle looking for Brother May so they could pray together. And he was dodging him walking down here. Finally caught up with him, they got down. And they prayed. This is a true story. And that happened all week long. And then the last time, that little boy and his mother and his father walked in the door. He was a dead. And when the service over, he came down and got born again. What happened? He was on the USS Forrestal. How many of y'all remember the Forrestal? They had a huge fire on that ship. And they flew the biggest portion of those people home. That ship was laying on its side when they come in, but they flew everybody home. And they gave him leave. And he was one of them. He got born again that night. Sometimes, you can't tell a lie from truth. He's on one hill. Now, I'm not saying he set fire to that ship. But he answered that prayer. Let's stand on our feet and we'll be... I want to have an invitation. Now, Lord, I ask you.
