until the day of Jesus Christ. That is very important for us to know. On the second page, we were studying when Justify, he continues to work in Bible salvation. according to Galatians 4.19, my little children of whom I prevailed in birth again until Christ be formed in you. And we went down to about half of that paragraph. So go down on the second page with that long paragraph, about the middle of it, since. Since one is justified, we are commanded to lay aside all of that overflow weakness and receive the entrapped word which is able to save, present tense, save our souls. Everybody find where I was, where I am. So the word is entrapped when one is justified. saved from the penalty of sin. My spirit has been saved ever since that Tuesday morning many years ago when God saved me. And we can be sure as we look in and study our Bible that according to Philippians, you know, chapter 1 and verse 6, if you want to check that out in your in your Bibles that God makes sure of some things. The word is engrafted when one is justified. Spirit saved from the penalty of sin and he began a good work, according to Philippians 1.6 and 36.27. This portion of the Scripture simply tells us that as 36 chapters, executables of 36 chapters and 27 verses said, I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statues and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. Now notice what the writer said here. He was talking to Ezekiel, he said, and I will put my spirit within you. Every saved person, he said, I'll put my spirit in you and cause you. The word here, important is the word cause. Cause you to walk in my statues and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. Who's they written to? Written to us. As we grow in grace and knowledge, we have a baby. We don't expect that baby to do what the mom or dad does, what his big brother or sister does. But as that baby grows in grace and in knowledge, and begin to crawl and then walk and run and talk, go through a process until it becomes an adult, until it becomes a soul that can now make a decision that the Holy Spirit puts in them, whether they will be obedient or not. He said, he makes it plain that one who is justified has the Lord's spirit within him. So when I look at myself and I said, you know, I just didn't do that. Well, that was a true statement because if the spirit of God is in me, I would have done it if I yield to him. Why? Because we're not a robot. I'm not a little spiritual robot that God said, all right, brother Vance, it's morning, you pray. Here comes a potential saint, talk to him. He doesn't do that. But as we feed on the word of God, it becomes important to us that everybody Now we, you know, we just want our family and our best friends, but we don't have time, too much time for the stranger. But let me let you in on a surprise. That stranger most of the time will listen above the family and kin folks. You know what I'm saying? Perfect stranger will listen to you When we was allowed to go visiting and we knocked on doors and got in, that lost person would listen to me, participate in, but you knock on a door and that person's a member of a church somewhere, you know. I remember my first experience of Mr. Brown. He's dead, I don't know where he's at, but he died. I owned banks, electric stores, grocery stores, you know, all that. The first time that I met him was over on 2nd Street. He came around Lexington area. And, you know, he didn't know anything about the Bible. He said, sure, I'm saved. I've been baptized for years. And I don't know whether he died, lost, saved. But I believe that something so wonderful as salvation, you know it. You may not understand it, but you know there's been a work that took place in you. God tells us here, he said, I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statues and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. So what if I know his statues, but I don't do them? God said I would. How do we handle that? Well, I believe that God does just like a good parent. I think I had two good parents. And when Mom said, do something, and I didn't do it, there was something she did. She'd break off a switch, and that switch would make you want to do it. You know what I'm talking about. Well, when God's chastising hand comes on your, you'll want to do it. And who does he chasten? Those he loves. We worried about this drunk, this dope addict, this prosecutor, all these people. Nothing seemed to happen. Well, they're killing themselves. But they don't belong to God. What do you mean? God died for his elect. I said, who are they? I don't know. That's why I knock on every door. That's why I pass out papers. That's why I preach. If I knew who his elect was, I should talk to them. But I don't know. You said, you know, and I had a man tell me one night, well, I can tell a man is saved by looking in his eyes. I said, you're one spiritual man or something. God tells us that when we receive the Spirit, you know, when He said, I will put my Spirit within you. See, that Spirit in us makes it plain that one who is justified has the Lord's Spirit within. If you're saved, the Holy Spirit lives in your body. My favorite verse, I know I used it a hundred times last year, Jesus. It's expedient, it's necessary. I'm going away, I'm going back to heaven. But I'll send the Holy Spirit. Everybody that's saved has the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues got nothing to do with that spirit that God said he was sent in. So, God knows every time we didn't do what we know we ought to do, and he, like a good parent, chastens us. I mean, Hebrews said, if you don't receive the chastisement of God, it's because you're a bastard and not a son. Was that not what he said? I think it is. God's chasing those he loves. We make it plain that one who is justified has the Holy Spirit within him. It will be sanctified because to walk in his statues and to keep his judgments and do them. Not perfectly. I really have a hard time doing anything perfectly because it's sinful body. When you look in the mirror, you look at your number one problem. because if I handle the scriptures the way God wants me to do, I'm not saying that if somebody does me wrong it won't bother me, but I don't want to kill them over it. I believe the Bible teaches you just mark them off of your center list, you know what I'm saying? You mark him off. He's not one of your best friends. See, not everybody that said, I'm a friend, is a friend. Every one of you know who Judas is. And then we have these super intelligent Christians. I know who's saving, who really isn't. You want to know who's saving? That's just come to me, priest. I'll tell you. Isn't that amazing that the 11 apostles didn't have the ability to know that Judah was saved or not? Because if you only seen me in my bad moment, you would doubt if I was saved. But you can remove all doubt. Brother, I am. He saved me despite what I was, Steve. Despite what I was. So we look at Titus chapter two, verse 11 and 12, you know, states that the grace of God will teach the justified, that's us, to deny some things and how to live in this world. Sanctification of the soul, save salvation have appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live how? Sovereignly, righteously, godly in this present world. Titus 2, 11 and 12. So, see, the Bible tells you how to do it and that you don't do it alone. Now, when you was first saved, if you was like me, man, I was gonna save the world. You know, I was saved on my way to work. on fire for the Lord. Went to work and they poured water all over me. Your best friends, the reason you're best friends is because you don't put down what they're doing. But when you start saying, if you're a child of God, do you think you ought to do that? The Holy Spirit does that. When I get mad when I shouldn't be mad, I hear a little voice, that feeling that says almost like somebody, why did you do that? The lost man can't help but do that, but you don't have to do that. All right. If what you profess does not clean you up on the outside, then you have not the spirit of Christ living on the inside. I believe that myself. I don't know whether anybody else in the room does or not, but I believe that. I believe that when that spirit entered me that Tuesday morning, Now I have the ability to do what I only thought about. Man, I tell you, if we could only get a hold of what the Spirit of God does. and how he keeps us out of trouble and gives us the words to say that we need to say when we need to say it. You know, had Romans 8 and 9 marked out and said, but ye are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwells in you. Yeah, that's what he said there in the Romans chapter 8, you know. We look at that, and God says in Romans 8 and 9, but ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he's none of this. If you don't have that Spirit that will convict you, cause you to feel bad when you know you sin, Brother Bill, do you say you need to check your oil? That's what the Spirit's job is for. It's so that you won't feel good doing bad. First Timothy 2.9 states, in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefulness, sobriety, not with braided hair and gold and pearls and costly ray. Nothing wrong with a woman looking nice, dressing nice. Shouldn't dress. so that she calls me into lust. I know what the women say. You know, one thing that can't change, Church, I still got that depraved nature I was born with. You understand that? I've talked to men, I've talked to women, I've talked to older ladies. Well, you know, I don't dress this way to get attention. I dress this way because I like it. My husband like it. He probably likes it on other women, too. You know, who me? I mean, all I know is what God's word says. It's important. See, these are little signs. These are little signs that we're backsliding when we wouldn't go to an X-rated movie, but we'll watch an X-rated movie on TV. That's in my own house. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that sin wasn't sin. I thought sin was sin everywhere. You follow me? Now, if you want to do that, that's your business. But you need to check your spiritual awe. Because if we get the little things out of our lives, you know, the big things got less of a chance of coming up. You know, a pastor's word when a church member says, how many times can I miss church and you consider me a good church member? I say, I don't have any idea. That's not my job. My job is to preach the word. And if you're saved, the spirit of God will teach you what to do. That's good teaching whether we like it or not. So we see here in the Word of God, you know, in 1 Timothy 2, 9, in like manner also. You know why? Because women are important. You know why this church is still here? Sometimes I think we're, you know, We're pretty close in not being here. But there's always been some Christian women. And I tell every man that gets married, she said, I found a girl and she's a Christian, yeah. God tells us some things, you know, tells us some things that we should and shouldn't A lot of women have very honest, you know. I've had them come up to me and say, you know, if you think I'm going to dress like the 1800s, you done lost your mind. No, I haven't lost my mind. I just, I'm trying to have the mind of Christ. See, we can't underline this and say, that doesn't apply to me. Well, I was talking this conversation about a month ago with a sweet little lady, and when I left, she was crying, and I didn't try to make her cry. I called her husband that night when he came in and I said, you know, I was over there talking to his wife and her and her sister and an old lady and I said, your wife started crying. You know, I didn't mean to make her cry. But if the word of God makes you cry, thank God for it. You know what I'm saying? See, when God saves me, he saves every part of me. So, but see, liberty is not a license of sin. And, you know, it started out with Galatians, you know. where he says, stand fast, therefore, in the liberty, where Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. But liberty is not a license to sin, because God said in Galatians 5, 13, for brethren, he hath been called unto liberty, only use not your liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. You may say, I have no condemnation because I am saved. And they quote Romans 8.1, there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Then they stop. But the Bible goes on. Who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. I don't know who's saved, who isn't saved, but, you know, I worked with some guys at IBM. They were, I mean, good old boys. I mean, they'd do anything in the world for you, but they never could understand why I wouldn't go down to the boom-boom room with them after work. Very simple. My boom-boom was at home. There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. How? Who walk after the flesh, who don't walk after the flesh, but after the spirit. So it is true there's no condemnation to hell if you are in Christ because you are justified save from the penalty of sin. Who paid that penalty? Jesus Christ. If you walk after the flesh and not after the spirit, there will be condemnation or chastisement come your way if you are truly saved. If you're not truly saved, you know, And the lady years ago when I was down at Lawrenceburg, you know, if I say the Bible don't do it, she'd do it. You know, I believe that we got a freedom now that I'm saved. I'm free to do anything that he leaves me to do. Amen, sister. but he'll never lead you to go against the word of God. You wanna say amen on that, sister? Her, me, you, whatever. You may do it, and that don't mean that you're lost. But you ain't gonna be in the bride. He said, I don't believe that. I just preach it. I don't have the power to make you believe anything. Holy Spirit does that. Romans 8.1 also refers to sanctification to the phrase, walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. If you walk after the flesh and not after the spirit, there will be condemnation or chastisement come your way if you are truly saved. See, God chastened those he loves. I don't know about you, but I've asked him sometimes, Lord, don't love me so much. But if I belong to him and I get out of line, he's gonna chastise me. I mean, it's like many little young mothers that still acts like a child herself. I'm not gonna be like mama and grandmama. I'll never whip my kids. Well, I feel sorry for you kids. See, there's a difference between beating and spiritually bringing them into subjection. So as we look at 1 John 3, 2 and 3, it states that if one has a hope of seeing the Lord when he comes back, he will purify himself. And, you know, I think everybody here at least heard that, have read it. You know, you may not like it. You probably pray and hope it's wrong. But we, after we're around the Word of God for a certain period of time, we know that it's true. We just don't accept it because it's going against what we like to do and what we feel we can do. But here in 1 John, 1 John chapter three, verse two and three, it said, Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Now notice verse three, and every man, that means mankind, man and woman, every man that have this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure. That means sanctification. When God saved me, I was sanctified, set apart. The soul was set apart. means I can never be lost. The emerald man is sure going to glory. But the body, if I do what God tells me to do, and he says, once I save you, he wants you to belong to a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, Bible-practicing church, and that will cause you, in time, to sanctify your body. And the only way I can change that teaching is for God to change the Bible. And I believe you would agree with me, he's not gonna do that. He's not gonna do that. So if you knew the judge was at the door, there would be some straightening up in your living and in my living. Drudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned before the judge, standeth before the doer. James 5, 9. And God tells us in Philippians 1, 6, states he justifies and sanctifies, but he is not through yet. He will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. That means that I ought to be closer to the Lord next year than I am now if I'm still living. We grow. We grow. You look in the mirror and you say, man, I'm aging. I don't like that. Well, the only other thing is die. Then you'll be 33 and 1 3rd. So Paul states, he justifies and sanctifies, but he's not through with us yet. This is referring to the rapture, not a Bible word, but a Bible principle. Because the word rapture is not in the Bible, the word isn't. But the rapture is if Jesus should come back now. If you just listen to the news, and I listen to it accidentally, I don't make a point there. I should, but I don't. But some of the things they voted on today and canceled today, the only way that we can get the help we need is to give this country billions and this country trillions. Rand Paul, I don't agree with everything Rand Paul does, but he's a In my opinion, he's got a lot more sense than most of them up there. But, you know, he said today on a news thing, you can't buy freedom. You can't buy freedom in the church, in the country, in the military. You can't do it. It won't work. So as Paul said in Philippians 1.6, you know, justified and sanctifies, but he's not through with it yet. But one thing is wonderful if we look at Romans 8.29, you know, for whom he did foreknow he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of the son that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. I mean, I love Romans, you know, eight, but when you look at that 29th verse, for whom he did know, he knew me before the world began. He wrote my name down in the book before he created the world. He said, for whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate, predetermined that this would happen. Why? To be conformed to the image of the Son of God that he might be the firstborn among many brethren, Romans 8.29. Now, all of these Christians who profess to be saved, and only God knows I don't, but they're still out there being unfaithful to their wife, unfaithful to their husband, taking dope and alcohol and living for themselves. I just don't believe those people going to heaven, folks. I just don't believe it. Because when God saves a man, he sanctifies. Is he perfect? Not yet. As long as I got this body, I can't be perfect. This body's my enemy. It causes me to fear when I have nothing to fear. When Jesus ascended in Acts 111, the angel said that this same Jesus is coming back as he saw him go. So that means he's coming in the air. He may come tonight. I haven't got nothing here on earth. that if I had the power to stay or go, that would keep me here. So when Jesus ascended, as there in Acts 1, 11, the angel said, this same Jesus is coming back as you see him go. So it means he's coming back in the air. I'm gonna set his foot on a mount. Look at 1 Thessalonians chapter four, verse 16. God said this, for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Person wouldn't argue with me one night on this station. You mean these people have been, you know, had their body burned, their ashes all over somewhere? You think God can't bring those ashes back together? You see this earth? You know what he made it out of? Nothing. You know why? There wasn't nothing here for him to make it out of. That's the God I serve. So when people say that, you know. Man, you know, you got to get to know Jesus personally. Personally. All right. This is the last paragraph, really, that we have. This saying, Jesus, that teaches us how to live a sanctified life in Titus 2, well, will teach us to look with expectations for him to come again. That's what he said in 1 Corinthians, you know, and Titus 2.13. We sometimes read these two verses at the grave site just to remind the people that if this person you lost is saved, they're coming back in much better shape than how they left. So, when this corruptible shall put on interruption, you know, when this corruption shall put on interruption, and this mortal shall put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the sayings that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. Oh, death without sting. When he comes back, won't you kill him again, Satan? because Satan will be in the bottomless pit. So, you know, and any condition, you know, of Psalms 24, verse 3 and 4 will be fulfilled. Who shall ascend into the hill of God or who shall stand in this holy place? He that hath clean hands, pure heart, and who hath lifted up his soul unto vanity, not sworn deceitfully. See, as we close, you know, Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5.23, and the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God, your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus. You know, if It really isn't as bad as it seems to me, but if I could have a dollar every week for the things that I got to look for, you know, then I'd be rich. But that day is going to come when that will never be a problem. First of all, I won't have all that stuff That's what I told my daughter. She said, you know, if you just make up your mind, you know, go through a box a day. I said, well, that'd be five years from now. She said, I don't know. I said, I'll tell you what to do. You know, you just wait until the Lord's come back and I won't worry about it. It's just stuff. I'll just give you food for thought before I let us go. If you could take the time that you look for stuff and think about stuff, your prayer life would multiply times after times after times. Yeah, but as Paul said, in the joy of the peace, sanctify you wholly. Thus, all three will be preserved if you have Bible salvation for Philippians 1, 6. It's true. And our spirit will be justified, saved from the penalty of sin. Our soul will be sanctified, saved from the power of sin. And our body will be glorified, saved from the presence of sin. Man, that's describing heaven, three points. Romans 8 30 moreover whom he did predestinate them he also called whom he called them he also justified and whom he justified them he also glorified make it clear that all he justifies he glorifies so this is the only self-tell outline of this subject. I listened to many CDs before I wrote this out and I prayed. That's why I wanted you to have a copy. You may take it home, throw it away. That's fine. I mean, it's you. But you, I tell you. I've used this outline a lot the last two months when I'm called to spot a home and somebody at the hospital and they want to be saved. I just, I said, read this. Just read it. Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for this opportunity that you've given us. We thank you, Father, for each one that has came out tonight, and we ask that you will bless them and give them safety back to their respective homes. Those that are sick, unable to be here, Lord, that you may touch them, bring them back for the Lord's day. In your holy and precious name we ask, amen, and you're dismissed.
