But I want to continue preaching on a series of messages on the tabernacle. Exodus chapter 26 tonight, and let me just say the tabernacle, again, is a picture of the person and the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. The tabernacle is what's called a type. A type is something that in the Old Testament, reflects or shows a shadow of the reality of the New Testament, of the New Testament doctrine. The tabernacle is a type of Jesus Christ. It's a type of believers in Christ. Joseph can be something physical or someone human. Joseph was a type of Jesus. Moses was a type of Jesus. Saul and Absalom are types of the Antichrist. And so you've got these types in the Bible. And now, you ought to be careful about typologies and not go to seed on them. David is a type of Christ in some aspects of his life. But in some aspects of his life, he's not at all a type of Jesus Christ. You don't just run a type just, you know, without stopping and using some natural little bit. Brother Oscar Cunningham, you say the Lord gave you just a little bit of gray matter up here to use some scents. And, you know, I've often said this, a lot of people do not read the Bible like they'd read any other book. It's not like any other book, but they don't even give it the benefit of just taking it in its natural sense. You know, just taking it for what it says within the context of what it's saying. And so, I just want to encourage you, when you're reading the Old Testament, I mean, there's just nonstop, there's types all through there, God is teaching, and a lot of prophecy. There's more prophecy, actually, in the Old Testament than there is in the New Testament, particularly concerning the Kingdom, and concerning the second coming of Jesus Christ. So, just to encourage you, when we're talking about the tabernacle, you might have your handout that I gave you. If you're near somebody that doesn't have one, you have your handout, well, you might want to get it out. We're going to be looking tonight at the veil in the tabernacle. The tabernacle courtyard, of course, went out, but the tabernacle itself was kind of shaped like this front of this building up here. It would be like, that would be the, say, the front entrance and here would be the back. About two-thirds of the way through you had the, what's the first part when you come in? Can anybody tell me? The holy place. Okay, the holy place. And then there was the veil. And between the holy place and beyond the veil was the most holy place. Let's talk about what was inside the holy place. When you walked in there, on the right-hand side, if you came in, what was on the right? Table of showbread. When you walked in, what was on the left-hand side? The candlestick. And then when you walked up to the veil, let's say this veil was across this, and it was two-thirds, two-thirds would be back here and a third up here. There was what right in front of the veil? the altar of incense. Okay, so then you had the veil, and inside the veil area, in the most holy place, was where the presence of God was. That was where the glory of God was. And in there you had the Ark of the Covenant, and of course the things that were inside the Ark of the Covenant. Now, we'll look at the veil tonight, and here's an interesting thing. You can do a lot of studying, a lot of reading, but you don't never hear as much about the veil as you do any other stuff. In fact, there are books on the tabernacle that say nothing about the veil. You can read them from cover to cover. They just skip the veil entirely. They don't say anything about the veil. But I'm telling you tonight, the veil is critical. The veil has a big message to it, and I'm sure that I won't do it justice, but we're going to kind of have a teaching and learning message here tonight, and I hope that maybe it'll just help you see your Savior a little bit better tonight. Help you see the Lord Jesus. You know, the men said over there in the New Testament, Sirs, we would see Jesus. You come to church, you need to see Jesus. Amen? So let's read it. Verse number 31 of chapter number 26, And thou shalt make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet, fine twine linen of cunning work with cherubims shall it be made. Thou shalt hang it upon the four pillars of shed and wood, overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be of gold upon the four sockets of silver. Thou shalt hang up the veil under the taches that thou mayest bring in thither within the veil the ark of the testimony, and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the Most Holy. And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place, and thou shalt set the table without the veil, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south, and thou shalt put the table on the north side." Go to chapter 36 with me tonight, chapter 36 and verse number 35. Chapter 36 and verse number 35. Here is in chapters 25 and down through there, 26, 27, God's giving Moses the pattern and giving him the instructions. In chapter 36, Moses is doing the job. He's obeying. He's doing what God said to do. Verse 35 says, And he made a veil of blue and purple and scarlet and fine twine linen, which cherubims made he of cunning work. He made thereinto four pillars of shit and wood, and overlaid them with gold. Their hooks were of gold, and he cast for them four sockets. Lord, help us to preach tonight in Jesus' name in a way that would glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and build us up in the most holy faith. And I pray, God, help us tonight to preach the Word of God, not our wisdom, not our thoughts, but, Lord, Your Word. Encourage these people and build them up, Lord, in the faith and let them know, God, that this is Your Word. And, God, show us Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of the living God. We are totally and entirely dependent upon thee tonight, just as we sung the song, Open Our Eyes, that we may behold wondrous things out of thy law. God, I pray tonight that it'll not be human intellect and that junk and philosophy. God, it'll be your word tonight that gives us the light that we need for the journey of life. And Lord, we thank you in Jesus' name. Amen. I want you to take your Bible to John chapter 1 verse number 14. You want to hold that Old Testament passage, but let's go to John chapter 1 and verse number 14. A very, should be familiar passage of Scripture with people in verse number 14. And then you need to go on over to Hebrews chapter 10. I want you to get to Hebrews chapter 10 and hold it. And then we're going to look at a couple of the Gospel passages where Jesus died. And kind of get a broad-based thing here. In John 1, verse number 14, everybody there say, Amen. And the Word was what? Made flesh. And who is the Word? That's Jesus Christ, was made flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Now, what I'm reading this verse for tonight is to say to you that Jesus Christ In the flesh, when the Word became flesh, the veil hanging between the Most Holy and the Holy is a picture of the incarnation of Jesus Christ. The incarnation of Jesus Christ is when God took on human flesh. When God became man. And let me say to you tonight, this is critical doctrine. For if Jesus Christ is not God, then He is not our Savior. He is the God-man. He is the man who was God in the flesh. And this is doctrine, this is critical doctrine in the Christian faith. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Now, in Hebrews chapter 10, if you'll turn over there for just a little bit and kind of set the stage for this message, this lesson tonight. Chapter 10 and verse number 19. The Bible, we don't have to guess what this veil symbolizes and what it expresses. what it's a picture of. The Bible clearly tells us, and that's why the Bible says that no scripture is given of any private interpretation. I have no business interpreting the Bible, and nobody else does either. The Bible will interpret itself. When it says in verse number 19, here it is, here's the Bible interpreting Exodus chapter 25. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the what? The holiest. That's the most holy place. How are we going to enter in? By the blood of Jesus. Now, folks, that's the only way you can get to God, is through the blood of Jesus. And this veil speaks of His body and His blood that was broken for our sins. And then it says, in verse number 20, and this is powerful, underline this in your Bible, having therefore, brethren, boldness to, watch that word, enter, enter into the holiest, enter into the presence of God. Let me tell you something, Knight, we're not just coming to church. When we worship God, that we worship God in spirit and in truth, it is a reality that you and I can literally go into the presence of God through prayer, through Jesus' name. We're not just tinkering around playing religion. When we come to God through Jesus Christ, we are entering into the presence of God by Jesus Christ. And it's not an empty, dead religion. In verse number 20 it says, by a new and living way. He's saying the old tabernacle now is done away with. That old system of worship is done away with. But we have a new and a living way. Which He hath consecrated. Jesus hath consecrated for us. Watch it. Through the veil. That is to say, His flesh. I get to God, I have access to God through the flesh of Jesus Christ, through the blood of Jesus Christ. Now it says in verse 21, in heaven and high priest, over the house of God, and I'll come back to that later in the message. Now I want you to go to Matthew chapter 26, I believe it is, Matthew chapter 26, and we'll look here at a passage of scripture concerning the veil in the New Testament that's really critical. chapter 26 I'm sorry Matthew chapter 27 verse 51 Matthew chapter 27 and verse 51 Jesus Christ is on the cross of Calvary he has been beaten and the Bible said in Isaiah marred more than any man his visage is more than any man he was beaten beyond recognition I don't know And I have a little tendency not to try to beat you too far about, you know, all that happened to Jesus there in preparatory to the crucifixion. All I can tell you is what the Bible said. That He was marred more than any man. That His visions was marred more than any man. That He literally had to have been beaten beyond recognition. And He was on the cross. In verse number 51, at verse number 50, when Jesus had cried to him with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. By the way, can I stop here and say that if you'll study Jesus Christ, He'll show you how to die. By the way, I want to say something. Listen to me. If there's anything that God teaches in His Word, it's that we are not to have a fear of death. He has conquered death. And we need not fear death. Death is literally opening up of eternity and glory for the child of God. And I want to say to you now, don't you dare let the devil put a spirit of fear upon you about dying. I'm not saying I'm anxious. I want to live this life. I want to live the days that God gives me. But that doesn't mean I have to have a fear of death. That does not mean that I have to be afraid to die, to be absent from the bodies, to be present with the Lord. And actually, our body is kind of a veil. That's separating us from the presence of God. And one day this veil is going to be taken away and I will see Him face to face. We've got to learn to look at it through scriptural eyes if we're not going to be bound by fear and by superstition and the junk that this world puts out there. All right? Now, I guarantee you, God has not given us the spirit of fear. So if you're afraid of dying, you didn't get that from God. All righty? All right, now, in Matthew chapter 27, verse, now here it comes, he yielded up the ghost. Now look what happened in verse 51. Now this happened immediately, the moment Jesus died. And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain. That means it was rent entirely in two, from top to the bottom, and the earth did quake and the rocks rent. Now, if you go to Mark chapter 15, it gives another account of that. And verse number 38, Mark 15, verse 38, and then we'll take off preaching. And the rest of the Scriptures, you'll just have to write them down and look them up at your time. But in Mark chapter 15, verse number 38, again verse 37, Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost, and the veil of the temple was rent entwined from the top to the bottom. There are at least five veils in Scripture. The first veil that we read about in Scripture is the veil of the tabernacle of which we're preaching on here tonight. There's also the veil of the temple that was written to here and that we just read. Now the veil of the temple, and by the way, the first veil was made by Moses, but the veil of the temple was made by Solomon. You'll read that in 2 Chronicles chapter 3 and verse 14. Now they have the same doctrinal position, the same purpose and all that, but it is a different veil. But in Exodus 34, between Exodus 27 and Exodus 36, where God told him to make it and he did make it, Moses was on the mount with God and came down in chapter 32, Exodus 27, Exodus 36, here's Exodus 32, and the Bible says that Moses' face shone so bright Because he had been with God, that his face shone and the people couldn't look on his face, and so they put a veil over, Moses put a veil over his face, and that's also a picture of a coming veil, or a veil that was to come, is upon something right now. So that's the third veil, that's in Exodus chapter 34 there. And then in Hebrews 10, we learn that the veil of Christ's flesh, the Bible says, was a veil. That's what the veil of the tabernacle temple pictured. But there's another veil. And it's recorded in 2 Corinthians 3, verses 13-16. Let's go ahead and turn there, because I want you to see this veil. It will help you to understand what you're doing. How many have ever wondered why some folks won't get saved? Everyone knows why some folks just won't get saved. What in the world's the matter with them? What's the matter with them? I want to tell you tonight, they've got a veil over their eyes. There is a veil over their eyes. There's a veil over their soul. And the Christian experience, in some ways, is an experience of God gradually pulling the veil back. How many see things now you didn't see 20 years ago? And when God takes you through experiences, He's kind of, He's renting the veil for you. I'm not talking about the veil now of Christ's flesh. That's been done. I'm talking about this other veil that we're talking about, these five different types of veil. In 2 Corinthians 3, verses 13-16, it says this, Not as Moses, which put a veil over his face. Now look, but just get back up a way, if you will, with verse number 12. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great what? Plainness of speech. Bless God, we need some plainness of speech. I don't like these Cracker Jacks that say 42 things and never get around to saying what they say. America needs some plainness of speech. We need some preaching that's plainness of speech. And he's talking about the gospel. He's talking about the truths of the Word of God. And he says in verse number 13, Not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which he has abolished." Did you hear what that said? Moses' veil over his face was a type, it was a picture, of the coming fact that the children of Israel would have a veil over their face. Does it ever shock you that the Jewish people who wrote the Bible, who brought through their lineage a Savior, cannot see Jesus Christ? There is a veil over the Jewish people's spiritual eyes, and there will be a veil over their spiritual eyes until the Lord returns. And when He returns in power and glory, the Bible said, then they'll see Him. And it means more than just physical. They'll say, you know what? Do you ever have people say, man, I just don't see it that way? They've got a veil. If they can't see it the Bible way, they've got a veil over their face. He said, they could not steadfast look to the end of that which is abolished. Well, what is abolished? All the Old Testament rituals, the tabernacle. You know, we don't go to the tabernacle anymore. That's the picture of the true tabernacle in heaven. We don't kill oxen and lambs and bullocks. We have our sacrifice. Christ is the Lamb of God who is offered once and for all. And they couldn't see. To this day, did you know what Orthodox Jews do to kind of do some of that stuff? They take a chicken. at Passover and wring its neck and sling it. Chicken is a long way from a lamb, but that's how bad the veil is over their face. And every prophet and all the stuff that they think they kept so close to their hearts and so precious in the Old Testament was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, and yet they couldn't see it as a veil. Look at verse 14. But their minds were blinded. I want to tell you something, folks. You can have your mind blinded. For until this day remaineth the same, what, veil untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament." Watch this, which veil is done away in Christ. Can I say something to you? You believe first and understand later, most things. I know you need to understand the gospel to a certain extent that you're a sinner and Christ died for you. But did you know what? A lot of spiritual things you ain't never going to understand until you first get saved and the Holy Spirit enlightens you and illuminates your mind and cause you to see spiritual truth. A dead man can't see much. And when you're spiritually dead, you can't see very well. A dead man doesn't hear nothing. And when you're dead spiritually, you just don't hear the word. I mean, a preacher can preach and a teacher can teach. And mom and daddies can admonition and mourn this, that, and until you're spiritually quickened, you're not going to see anything. A veil is something that separates. The description of it, back over now in Exodus chapter 26 and 27 there, it said it was made out of shidom wood and that the pillars, first of all, were made out of shidom wood that the veil hung on, made out of shidom wood with gold overlaid them. Again, if we go back into our typology earlier, we said the wood stands for the humanity of Jesus Christ and the gold speaks of his deity. So now we're seeing again this incarnation. The word became flesh. God in the flesh. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, what did they say? Emmanuel, God with us. All right. Speaks of the incarnation. These sockets were setting, these pillars were setting in sockets of silver. Now I know I'm going over again, but what was the sockets of silver representing? Representing redemption. And watch this, the pillars are now setting in sockets of silver, telling us that the basis for our access to God is redemption. The grounds of our access, that the reason I can pray tonight and get to God, is based upon the ground of redemption. Before you ever got to this veil, there was two more curtains. There was a curtain way out there at the start of the court before you ever came into any of it. And those pillars sat in brass. Judgment. When you came up, to the holy place before you went in there. Those pillars where that veil hung was brass. And not until you got up here was it set in redemption based upon the blood that was shed. The only way a man can get to God is through redemption. You must be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. No other way to get to God. Remember the veil separated. And that veil was resting on redemption. Our approach to God is on the basis, our only hope is redemption. The veil hung by golden fillets, golden ring, golden fillets that it hung upon. Now you say, Reggie, what do you think? Did you know something? This is amazing. I mean, just read this. If you start thinking in terms of the New Testament, did you know Jesus hung on the cross? What hung Jesus on the cross? Somebody said nails. Did you want to hung Him on the cross with divine love? Salvation is of the Lord. Now watch this. All of salvation rests upon redemption, but it hangs upon the deity, the gold. Those fillets were made of gold. And our salvation is supported and upheld and hung by divine power. So salvation is of the Lord. Your salvation is not obtained or gained by any human power. It is all of the Lord. It is not maintained by human power. We are kept by the power of God. Salvation is all of God. It hangs completely. It wasn't hanging on some human effort up here. Your salvation is not hanging on how good you live. I mean, that may shock you out tonight, but it's not hanging on how nice you're living. Your salvation is not hanging on whether you quit smoking or not. Your salvation is not hanging on how long your dress is. Your salvation is not hanging on how much food you ate over the weekend. You know it's amazing preachers get up and preach on drinking, but there's a lot more in the Bible about being a glutton. Some people ought to get a big spoon for Christmas. Shovel it in. Shovel it in. Shovel it in. I don't tell American people. You know what? I mean, it's a shame. I tell you, some people just need to cut wood for a living. I mean, that would do them good. Amen? When I'm doing sales, and I'm off on a rabbit trail right now, I realize that. But when I'm doing sales, you know, I mean, it gets me. These women are going to these here high-priced, expensive weight loss programs when all they need to do is buy a push lawnmower at one of my auctions. For five dollars, you can get a push lawnmower, biggest weight loss machine you've ever got a hold of in your life. Get the grass about a foot high and try to push that dude. Man, I tell you, you'll come out of there sweating like it. Anyway, I'll get off on that. Amen. You say, Reggie, what do you mean by the gold fillets hanging up there? Listen, it was all of God. For the foundation of the world, God foreordained that His Son would be made a sacrifice for sin. It wasn't even in the mind of man how to be saved. Man never conceived it. Man never performed it. It's all hanging on God. Amen. I'm glad tonight that everything, all my hope is hanging on the Lord. Amen. It's not hanging on Reggie's righteousness. It's not hanging on Reggie's performance. And then, as I said, there's four pillars here. There's five pillars out yonder. That's grace. Grace is the access to God. Four pillars here. How many Gospels is there in the New Testament? You see, it's just displaying the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost fourth member of the world, and it's displaying the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and a dying world. Four pillars displaying the Lord Jesus Christ, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God also says that He has made unto us four pillars. He said He's made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption in 1 Corinthians 1 and verse number 30. Now the colors of the veil are given, and it's fine linen, and it's threaded with blue and scarlet, which is red or earth, it's the color of earth, and if you study that word out, scarlet is the color of man, Adam means red, alright, and purple. And what it's saying to you is this, the linen speaks of Jesus' perfect righteousness and sinlessness. Blue speaks of his heavenly origin. Earth speaks of his taking upon himself humanity. And the blue and the red combined gives you the purple, which is God in the flesh. But he's also coming back. Let me tell you something. Jesus Christ, the resurrected Jesus Christ, is coming back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And purple is the color of royalty. The cherubims. The cherubims were put in this veil. You read about cherubims in the Garden of Eden after Adam and Eve's sin, and they kept man. You know what they did? What were the cherubims for? Kept man from approaching God. Sworn over the Garden of Eden so man could not approach God. And cherubims were saying that this is a holy, righteous God and sinful man cannot approach to Him. So the question becomes this, how can I, a sinful man, approach a holy God? Did you know that even the high priest, if he went in any other time than once a year and not without blood, that he would be struck dead if he tried to approach God? All those people out there, there's no way in the world they could even think about dreaming of approaching God, who is a holy God. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Still yet in the Bible, every time somebody, you see them with God, they fall on their faces before God. God is a thrice holy God. And this separated man from Him. And the veil, now I want you to get this. Here's the picture. Here's the veil in all of its glory. Righteous linen. The blue, the red, the scarlet, and the purple, and the cherubims woven in it, hanging on that gold, resting on silver, and yet it wouldn't save anybody and wouldn't give anybody access to God, in the condition it was in. You say, Richard, what's the message? The real message is, is the veil that was rent. The veil was rent at the moment that Christ gave up the ghost. It is a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary making the way for you and I to come to God. Let me say, first of all, it was divinely rent. The Bible said that it rent from top to bottom. Now, I have never seen a veil and I don't know of anybody living that has ever seen a veil. All I can read about it, the old Jewish writings talk about it being a hand-breadth thick. In other words, it would be thick, the hand-breadth of a man. It is said in Jewish history that it took 300 priests to hang it. I don't know whether that's true or not. I have read that they would tie the corners of it to oxen-teens on each corner, and if it would pull apart, they would not hang it. I don't know whether all that's true or whether that's Jewish poppycock. I have no earthly idea. And you ought to be really careful about reading, because the Jewish people have, since the veil is over their eyes, they're real good at ritualism and traditions and a bunch of stuff, the Talmud that's not of God and not of God's Word. Jesus himself said that you've made none affect the Word of God by your traditions. So be real careful about all that kind of stuff. Where the Bible is silent, I don't think I need to jump in and say things that I don't know about, but just to say to you that the veil was rent from top to bottom. That means that the picture and the message is this, that salvation is of the Lord and that God made the way. Man didn't come in there with a pair of scissors or a chainsaw and cut it from the bottom up. Man didn't make his own way in the presence of God. God made the way that man could approach Him through the veil, and it's God's doing. Again, salvation is of the Lord. If there's anything the veil teaches you, it's salvation is of the Lord. You don't have anything to do with it. Now, the Bible said in Hebrews 10 through 19 and 20 that it's a new now and a living way. Go to Ephesians chapter 2. I want to show you here in Ephesians the doctrine of Scripture about this. Let me say something to you. It's possible for you to go to church all your life and have never worshipped God. You can go to church all your life and never, honest to goodness, been born again, been saved by faith in the substitutionary shed blood of Jesus Christ. America is so full of religious people, it's sickening. They're just sweet little religious people who do all the right things, but They're idolaters. They've carved out a Jesus that suits their own life. In Ephesians 2, verse 13, here's what it says, But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are what? Made nigh, in other words, brought near by the blood of Christ. Verse number 14, For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Now the context here is the wall of partition between Jews and Gentiles, but it still has to do with the temple. Having abolished in his flesh, the Bible said the veil was his flesh, the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, for the making himself of twain one new man, so making peace. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were far off, and to them that were nigh, Gentiles and Jews. For through, watch this, here it is, for through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. And so this veil was through the Lord's veil, picture Jesus Christ, and it's through him. If that veil was never rent, how are you going to get through? And that's why the Bible says it's only through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ and by faith appropriated in that blood that you and I have access to God. That's the only way we can get to God. Now, the Bible said in John 14, Jesus is the way. Another passage said, I am the door by me. If any man enter in, he shall be saved. The Bible said neither is there salvation in any other, for there's none of the name under heaven given among men whereby you must be saved. You listen to me tonight. There's not a bunch of nice religions, everybody going to heaven their own way. Brethren, tonight it's Jesus Christ, or you're not going to the Father. And it's not Jesus Christ just hanging. Did you read what happened after Jesus gave up the ghost when the veil rent? Did you know why the Bible speaks about the saints? Now watch this, their bodies that were sleeping, not their souls. Your soul sleep, folks, your seventh day Adventist, all those people, they'll try to take that verse and teach you soul sleep. That's not what it says. You read that carefully. It says the bodies which slept arose up out of the grave. What was Jesus teaching? He was teaching that Jesus not only conquered death, but he gave us a new and a living way. And the bodies of those people came up out of the grave. And Jesus gives life. Now it was rent completely. Now watch this really, really carefully. It was rent by God. It was a divine act, but it was rent completely in two. Now, here's what I want to preach to you tonight about. Religion and man has run over there real fast and tried to sew it back together. Yes, sir, you listen to me good now. You get trapped in this if you're not careful. Man has run over and all of a sudden the religious leaders, here's this man. Did you know what that means? Can anybody tell me what did it mean to the priest when the veil went from top to bottom? They're out of a job. The whole Roman Catholic system collapses right here. Why? Because there's one man. One mediator between God and man, the man, the veil, Christ Jesus. So these religious people who had all these people in bondage, you've got to come to me to get to God. Bunch. I can see them running over to the veil with their needle and threads, bringing it back in, sewing the little net up. Got their little strings and stuff trying to bring it all back together and make, watch this, making the weight of God, the weight of God confusing and entrapping and tripping and falling over it. Trying to wade through the veil of religion. Let me tell you what religion will do for you. It will try to bring the veil back and sew it up and have a little net for you to try to weave. In other words, you've got, watch this. I'll show you. I'll give you two or three reasons. Number one, have you been filled with holy gold since you got saved? Have you been evidenced by speaking in tongues? Do you know what that is? That's sewing the veil back up. The implication is you're not really saved. And don't tell me I've been around the block three or four times. Oh, you ain't been baptized in water? The Campbellites, the Church of Christ, try to sew the veil back up with water baptism. The Charismatics try to sew the veil back up with tongues. Forty-two other denominations try to sew it back up with human words. Hey, the veil's ripped! Now, you say, Reggie, some folks are trying to put up another veil. They put up veils to replace it. Because they don't want God's way to God. They're going to go to God their way. Let me tell you the veils that are put up right now and veils that are hiding God from people. Veils of religion. Islam is a veil. It hides millions and billions of people from the truth of God's Word. And the religious hucksters of this world are constantly hanging veils up and hiding God from people. Denominationalism will hang a veil up and hide Jesus Christ to people. I'm not against denomination in a sense, but I'll tell you something. If you're not careful, I've seen people worship their denomination. I've seen them forsake this book. They forsake this book and stand up for their denomination and forsake Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word. Let me tell you something. My kids that are sitting here this morning, don't you ever take me over this book. If I'm wrong and this book's right, you stand by the book. Don't you get hung up in tradition and say, well, that's what Daddy believed and so I'm going to believe it because Daddy believed it. Well, I think you ought to honor your mom and daddy, but I think you better check the book out and see if daddy's right or not. Religion is a veil. Philosophy can become a veil. Let me tell you what, ritualism becomes a veil. We just do our little rituals. And pretty soon, instead of having a new and a living way, There's still to be life to our worship. There's still to be life to our salvation experience. It's just dead, stinking ritualism. And we can't even see God or hear God or know God anymore because it's a big old religious veil, philosophical veil in front of us. Let me tell you another veil that's put up to people. Morality. I want to tell you something. You may never fornicate, but you can die and go to hell a virgin. Are you listening to me? I don't think you ought to fornicate, and I don't think you ought to commit adultery. And I think it's wicked, but I'll tell you this much, you can be as clean as a white sheet and die and go to hell as a moralist. And America is full of moralists. The only thing they do is they keep changing their morals. We're so immoral right now that if you, I mean, you know, I mean, I never seen the like in my life, I'll tell you what. A man in our church came the other day and he said, he's been in the military, he said, Reggie, he said, I would have died, he said, I have offered my life to die for this country. And he said, I wouldn't give nothing for it now. Congress voted in, let queers in the military, a bunch of sodomites, a bunch of fags, perverts, child molesters. Who wants to be in a barrack with a jerk like that? They're going to destroy the American military with that. But that's the new morality in America. The vice president said this week that it's inevitable that Americans will accept sodomite marriages. No, it's not, Mr. Biden. You're nothing but an evil, wicked, devil-filled man. You're full of devils. That's what's wrong with Joe Biden. If that preaching is too straight for you, go find your liberal church. This country's full of wickedness and has become a cage of every foul spirit. And they're putting up veils of morality. It's a new morality. This is like, I want to tell you, being moral does not save you. Education is a veil. Let me tell you, I've seen preachers get so educated, they just quit believing the book. I'm not against education. I'm sure I'm against ignorance. But when education becomes a veil that you can't see God and you can't see the word of God. And you're so educated and so proud of your education and you think your mind's above the Word of God and you've got the Bible subjected to your mind instead of your mind subjected to the Bible, you have a veil over you. And it's no wonder there's no salvation. No wonder there's no changed lives. That education has become a veil to people. They can't see Jesus Christ. A lodge can be a veil. Brother Bob was witnessing the other night over there at the jailhouse. And I'd never heard what Bob said the other night. Let me tell you something, a lot of people in Lodge have never seen Jesus Christ. That Lodge does not want His, will not allow His name to be spoken in that Lodge. And it's a veil and they can't see Christ. Your clubs, your organizations, your political affiliations can become veils to keep you from seeing the truth. Oh, I'm so glad tonight that God rent the veil from top to bottom. The veil is whatever is separating you from God. A man told me, shacking up with a woman, living with a woman not married. By the way, that's wicked and evil. It's one of the most damnable sins in America. It is ruining this country. Hey! Don't talk to me about that you don't like sodomites if you're shacking up. Because you're destroying marriage just as bad as a sodomite is. You're saying marriage don't amount to squat. Marriage don't amount to anything if you shack up. Marriage is not sacred. Marriage is not holy. Marriage is not of God. That's what you're saying when you live with somebody. And don't you knock the queers for shacking up and living together when they don't say they're trying to destroy marriage. You're already destroying marriage. A man told me, I said, why don't you get married to her? She'd get my money. And money become a veil separating him from God. He says to the man, why don't you come to church? Well, I have to work on Sunday. Your job has become a veil separating you from God. Bitterness. can be a veil keeping you from seeing God. Go to Hebrews chapter 10. Let me show you what happens when you go inside the veil. Hebrews chapter 10, verse number 19. The Bible says, having therefore, brethren, boldness. I want you to watch this and I'm going to take a trip inside the veil. Having therefore, brethren, first of all, brethren means you've got to be saved. Salvation is a birth. It's not a club you join. It's a family you're born into. By the way, get this. The Bible said that it was cunning work. You know, when God saves you, it's a cunning work. When Jesus was conceived and women were married, it's a cunning work. And I'm going to tell you something, God saves your soul, it's a cunning work. It's amazing, unseen, handiwork of God. He said, having therefore brethren, you've got to be saved. Next thing is boldness. Let me tell you something, folks. The righteous are bold as a lion. To enter. I want to challenge you tonight to enter in. to the holiest. Don't dare try to go in without the blood. He said, having boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Verse number 20, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say, his flesh. Verse 21, and here's how we go. And having in high priest over the house of God. Somebody says, Reggie, do I have to have a priest? Yes, you do. You have to have a priest. And you've got one. You've got a high priest whose name is Jesus Christ. Every Catholic priest in the world would be out of business today if people start believing this book. I want to tell you one of the spookiest things I've ever had in my life. When Jackson was in the hospital up there all that time, one day, Zachary took me up to the chapel. And up there in the chapel in St. John's, they've got that little confessional booth back there. That's the spookiest little place. I mean, I felt devils in there. You know what's amazing? Watch this. Can anybody tell me what's in the confessional? A veil. Yes, sir. There's a veil in the confessional. All they're doing is keeping you hidden and away from God. They are a veil themselves, a false veil. Now, here it comes. Here's how you go through the veil into the Holy. Let's watch this. This is neat. Let us draw near with a true heart. Don't monkey with God. Don't come in there acting like you're religious and everything's okay when it's not. Don't come in there acting sincere with God and when you walk out of there, you can care less. The very first thing When you go in that hole, you better be with a true heart. You ain't monkeying with God, friend. You think you're playing games with God, and God don't know your heart. You're a crazier than a bed bug. Draw near with true heart, but he says also draw near with full assurance. Amen? Full assurance. Where does Fannie Crosby know how to write that song, Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine? Full assurance. Now watch this, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience. The high priest had to sprinkle with blood, and watch this, and our bodies washed with pure water. The sprinkling is the blood, the heart. Remember the labor? They had to wash in the labor before they come in. The labor is a picture of the Bible. Now you're clean through the word which I've spoken unto you. If you're going to go into the Holy of Holies, the presence of God to worship, you do this. You draw near with the true heart. Full assurance of faith. Make sure your heart's been sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. Your body's washed with the Word of God. OK. Next thing says this. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering. Don't come in. He that wavered, the Bible says, like the tossed to and fro. He said you don't need to expect nothing from God if you're just going to waver about it. You don't waver. For he is faithful that promised. Do you understand what that wavering means to God when you waver? It means you doubt God. He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and it is your order then that diligently seek him. That's faith. You just believe God. You don't doubt. You don't waver. You believe God. All right? Here's the next thing. Now, you know what? Some of you are going to say here tonight, you're just going to wonder why you didn't come to church. You ain't getting nothing out of this, but I'm telling you something, if you grab hold of this tonight and lay hold of this with your heart and your soul, I mean, it'll bless your heart and it'll change your spiritual life. Now, the next thing, verse 24, let us consider one another, provoking the love and the good works. Did you know something? When a man goes into the Holy of Holies and he gets in the presence of God, God's going to give him a new appreciation for the brethren and He's going to give him a heart to serve and love the brethren. Amen. It's going to provoke you to love and to good works. You want to serve other people and do some things for some other people. Your life's no longer just about you. It's about what can you do for other people and for the cause of Jesus Christ, for the glory of God. And then look at verse 25. Actually, there's four things right down there. 1, 2, 3, 4. Verses 22 through 25 gives you four things that happen when you go in the Holy of Holies through the veil. And here's the last one. Not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together as a man or son is. but exhorting one another so much the more as you see the day approaching. Can I tell you something tonight? When I see somebody being careless and not faithful, assembling themselves together, you know what I know about them? I know they've been in the most holy place recently. You get in the most holy place, that being in the presence of God will cause you to want to be with the people of God. Anyway, I hope that's a blessing to you tonight. I hope it encourages the Lord. Aren't you glad tonight that that old veil's rent? You know what to do now. You say, Reggie, what do I do when I come up to a veil that's been sewed back together? You take the sword of the Spirit and you cut them little threads, all right? You quack, quack. I'm telling you, you listen to me. Even preachers like me can, if I'm not careful, I'll probably be sewing the veil back up. Telling, if you don't home educate your kids, you can't go to heaven. No, I've never believed that, never taught that. If we're not careful, we make people feel like that if you don't do thus, thus, and thus, you don't have access to the holy place. And so be careful. And if you've got veils over your life, money, work, bitterness. Get rid of that, John. Get into the holy place of God. What do you say we go home? Well, I tell you, my feelings have been hurt. All these people want me to shorten up my sermons. But Don Zinn reaped what he sowed. Don Zinn's been sitting back here, you know, well, listen to her. He told me some more. Listen to her, you know. What should I do? Listen to her. And Don Zinn coming to church tonight, and the Lord rebuked Don Zinn. His little boy, Zach, said that he was glad that his mama was his mama. But he wasn't so glad that his daddy was his daddy. Did I get that right, Zach? And if all of you will notice, his lap, he's sitting on. So the Lord rebuked Don Zinn a little bit today. Don, I love you. I've got to tease you back a little bit, okay? I thought it was ice skating. I thought there might be a few mud holes that was iced over. Well, let's stand together and go home. I want to encourage you. The way has been made. Tonight, you lay your head on your pillow and you start talking to your Heavenly Father. You know how you can do that? Because the veil's been rent. Tomorrow morning you're driving to work and you want to pray and talk to God. You know how you can do that? Larry, you know you're driving that truck up and down the road and you're talking to God. You know how you can do that? Because that veil's been rent. And you've got access to God through Jesus Christ. And now I'm going to tell you something. The devil tried to tell you when you're praying you ain't getting through. That is not so. If you're coming in Jesus' name, you're through. You have access to God through Jesus Christ. So just rejoice in it. Amen? Be happy in it tonight. Lord, we thank you for your Word. I pray, God, that you will help us to take these things to heart. Lord, to believe your Word that we do have access by a new and a living way through the Lord Jesus Christ's shed blood and broken body. God, I pray tonight that you will help us to not be sewing it back together and making things difficult and confusing for people and tripping people up. And I pray, God, tonight that whenever we've allowed a veil to come between you and us, God, that we'll let the Holy Spirit tear that thing in two. And that we'll not let anything keep us, Lord, from your presence and from fellowship with you. Lord, when we've sinned, God, help us to be quick to confess our sin and agree with you, Lord, and acknowledge it and name it and be honest about it. For, Lord, you said that we've got to draw nigh with a true heart. So, God, I pray tonight you'll bless these people. Do a work by your Holy Spirit. It's just not the preaching. Lord, apart from the work of the Holy Ghost, this preaching won't do these people a dime bit of good. But Lord, that secret cunning work of the Holy Spirit in the heart, God, it will help us. So we ask for it tonight in Jesus' name. Give these folks a wonderful week. Amen and amen.
The Veil that Was Rent
The veil of the tabernacle is a picture of the incarnation of Jesus Christ - God became man. There are at least 5 veils mentioned in the Bible.
