Attention everyone,
One of the most popular ways people have accessed sermons on SermonAudio over the years has been by Scripture. They want to go to a passage and listen to sermons on a particular verse. We've always had that capability, sort of. But now, it's better, stronger, and faster than ever!
Better than ever.
Our newest implementation of this feature is better than ever. How so? The search now does range overlap matches. That means if the sermon's range of verses overlaps with the verse(s) specified by the search criteria, the sermon is included. This means:
- Searching John 1:3 will return sermons on John 1:2-4, John 1, and John 1-3.
- Searching John 2 will return sermons on John 2:5, John 1:15-2:3, John 1-2.
Sounds complicated, doesn't it?
"I'm really pleased with the implementation. Doing range overlap matches was very easy, once the idea came to me." — Developer
Additionally, we have now improved the Relevance sorting logic so that the most exact matches are placed at the top of the list, followed by sermons with small verse ranges, followed by whole chapter and whole book sermons.
However, it does mean that for chapter searches you'll see more sermons than you saw before (in the past a search for John 2 would not have included a sermon on, say, John 1-2). For this reason, we have added the option to filter by the following fine-tunes:
Stronger than ever.
Stronger in the sense that this is an incredibly powerful feature that you'll not find on any other platform used for broadcasting sermons. Try finding all sermons preached on Deuteronomy 30:11 by digging through Facebook or YouTube—you won't. We love sermons, and SermonAudio is purpose-built for sermons.
Faster than ever.
Faster in the sense that you'll be able to find exactly what you're looking for much, much faster. Simply type in any partial Bible reference in our search bar and click on the matching Bible passage. When viewing sermons by book / chapter / verse, you can now specify that special option for "Exact Verse" to return just what you want.
We're not perfect, but we are perfecting the site!
