"For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have?" [Matt 5:46]
We are often outraged at sinners. "How could they", we say, when talking about the liberal or the racist. We call down fiery indignation, not knowing what spirit we are of.
If we LOVE evil people, then we are wise. If we rebuke them in love and call them to Christ, then we are God-like, because He causes His rain to fall on the evil and the good.
He is an upright God who's manifested Himself in Jesus Christ, and we are to go do likewise, never forgetting that we were the worst of sinners, when we obtained mercy. Let us leave the self-righteous judgmentalism to the unbelievers and carry the gospel to the world.
You can't witness to the transvestite at your job, if you don't love him. You can't help the false prophet, if you don't care enough to win his soul. This teaches us HOW to speak the truth, not to withhold it, but to dip our tongues in love.
We are all working on it and growing here: No one has reached perfect patience, so we keep going back to the Lord to be made more like Him. Let Jesus be your standard and show yourself a child of the Father.
