"Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner." Proverbs 13:6

In this statement, Solomon gives us a look at the end product of two paths. One path keeps or protects, the other overthrows or destroys. It is important to understand that as Solomon writes this, he is not choosing two possible paths out of many which may be chosen. In a world that loves to categorize everything in a grey area that is not really right or wrong, but rather different and special, the Bible speaks liberating truth. The truth of the matter is that you are either on a path that is pursuing righteousness, or wickedness. There is no grey lifestyle or choice that might fall somewhere in between. Those who are pursuing righteousness, will be blessed as the man in Psalm one. Those who are ignoring righteousness and pursuing their own way, will be destroyed as the wicked in Psalm one. The struggle we have is not necessarily believing that we will reap what we sow, but believing that pursuing what we want or desire could actually fall in the category of wicked. However, when we come to the Bible, we are faced with the truth that outside of the influence of the Holy Spirit combined with the Word of God, our natural inclinations are all influenced by wickedness.
