The sin of Achan and church discipline

Achan fell into sin. It was his sin and did not involve many others. He and his family were involved in this sin, but it was not a situation that involved many church members falling into sin together. However, the sin of Achan brought the whole church family under judgment and discipline. People died because Achan's sin was defiling the church family.

If we are aware that there is unrepentant sin in the church family, we need to remember the sin of Achan. if such judgment came on the church family when an unknown sin was defiling the body, then how much more severe would be the judgment when we know of the sin and tolerate it?

None of us would willingly allow poison or disease to live in our physical bodies. So we must not allow open, unrepentant sin to remain in the church body.
