Three Distinct Aspects of Peace Who wants and needs the peace of God to guard their heart and mind in.and.for Christ Jesus?
For this perfect peace to be real in our lives two other aspects of peace are needed to have and experience the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:4-9).
What are they?
Peace WITH God and peace FROM God (Romans 5:1-5). Without these two specific dynamics of peace there will never be any signs of the peace of God in our lives. Let’s compare it to stand along the beach of the ocean? Peace with God is like standing on the shoreline and enjoying the beauty of the water, those in the ocean, sensing the mist, as it blows over our being and the smells and taste of the salty air, every single time the waters pounds the beachfront under our feet. Peace from God is similar to stepping into the water to find comfort and joy in wading out into the ocean. And the peace of God is like these massive waves that occasionally overwhelm and swallow those who were brave enough to venture into their path. We can’t be covered in the powerful peace OF God unless we walk in the peace FROM God. And there’s no way to access the peace from God without being at peace WITH God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Living in Peace with God
Nehemiah is a great example of a servant of God who walked in and experienced God’s perfect peace.
Peace with God: Comes by faith through our Mediator Jesus, who reconciled God with us and us with God.
Everything God does has a direct effect upon our present.
Our forgiveness and future are to intentionally effect of present walk of faith.
We receive Him by faith
We walk with Him by faith
We wait for Him by faith
We are transformed by Him by faith
We seek Him by faith
We work for Him by faith
We war alongside Him by faith
This all effects our witness for Him
Peace from God: Comes through His wisdom and knowledge (stability and strength) like knowing all things work together and we can count it all joy, and not be anxious for anything but in all things pray, with supplication and thanksgiving.
Peace of God: Comes when what we know and understand is in the dark and beyond figuring out... the only thing we have is to rest in Him who knows what we don’t and who can see in the dark.
