Before I tell you this story let me assure you that I do believe Proverbs 12:10a "A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:..." Have any of you been chased by a rooster? For those poor souls who haven't, let me just explain that every cute adorable Foghorn Leghorn there is an inner demon rooster that has spurs, strong wings, and an attitude. For a while, the patter of little feet behind me simply meant my hens were coming up to me to see if I had food - if you were waiting for a 'Lassie' moment you ain't gonna get one with a hen. It is all about the FOOD. Wait, I need to hop back off that rabbit trail. I did say "for a while" then came the roosters. It didn't take long for them to decide they needed to gain dominence. I saved them from the chopping block and what thanks do I get? Say hello to psychotic Foghorn Leghorn. Oh I had someone tell me to pick up the rooster and walk and speak gently to it so it knows I pose no threat. Made a mental note never to make eye contact with that person again! My poor youngest son now walks with a large stick. I keep the dog with me. I've made plans to take the roosters to the auction. Until then, I have a few options. I can decide to never leave my house. I can fret about a potential attack and make all my plans for after dusk when the roosters are sleeping. You might say that's crazy! However, how many times do we do the same thing with our fears? Fear of the future, fear of 'what if's', fear of failures you name it. Fear must be faced; you can't hide and hope it all goes away. God tells us that He does not give us a spirit of fear. The spirit of fear is a tool used by satan to get Christians to focus on themselves and the bigness of the problem instead of our Omnipotent God. Dr. Randy Starr on 8/18/19 preached "Overcoming the Spirit of Fear". Friend, does something have you overwhelmed or even frightened? I encourage you to listen to the sermon and get in to a Bible preaching, Christ centered church.
