My oldest boy loves gardening. He loves trying new varities of vegetables and fruits. Gardening takes a lot of work. A garden doesn't start with the planting of the seed or young plant. It begins long before that. One must prepare the soil, plan out plant placement, and get the necessary equipment. A couple of years ago we had some vegetables that looked really good. We brought them in. We were excited! We cut them and took a bite. All those months of weeding and watering came down to the fruit of our labor. The taste of a fresh picked tomatoe on toast with mayonaise. It is like summer in your mouth. The squash we cut was TERRIBLE. It didn't taste like anything. I did some research and found out that there was a nutrient lacking in our soil. We had done all the work, the fruit of our labor looked great, but the inside where it truly counted was awful. We can be that way as well. Devotions are allowed to slip. We allow a sin to begin to have a hold on us. For a while, we can go through our motions with very little notice. However, the time will come when people will notice that the "inside" isn't right. We've become backslidden. Pastor preached 5/19/2019 during the morning service "Hope for the Backslider". Does your 'garden' need weeded? Harvest is coming. There is hope for you.
