I was at a conference many years ago and in talking to several preachers, told them, “Let's have a game of poker!” I was not serious about doing that, but was anxious to make an important point.

They kinda laughed and said, “You lost your mind or what?” I said “Well God’s a gambler so why can’t we gamble?” They replied, “What do you mean, God is a gambler?” ”Well, notice what you fellows preach — It’s up to you, It’s your decision, If you say no to God, there’s nothing He can do. So make up your mind and come to Jesus now.”

And I told them, “Your teaching implies that God took a gamble that people would choose Jesus. God must have told His Son, It’s a gamble, but maybe someone will accept you as Saviour.” I continued, “You must believe that or you wouldn’t put the power in the hands of mankind to accept or reject the Son of God.” — “Poor God, sitting there in Heaven, wringing His hands, hoping someone will say yes to Jesus.”

One preacher finally asked me, “Then what’s the answer?” I said, “Before the foundation of this old sin-sick world, our heavenly Father, in love and mercy extended grace as He chose His elect. Then He told His Son, ‘Go and redeem my elect sheep.’ And Jesus told us plainly, ‘If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to me.’ He was lifted up on that Old Cross, and He draws all the elect to Him, the ones He redeemed.”

I must place all Sovereign Power in my Heavenly Father — and most preachers give all sovereign power to mankind. That, my friend. is blaspheming God. Needless to say, I wasn’t invited back to that conference. But I did have a few of those preachers ask me privately to show them more truth.
