Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Col. 3:16-17

THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER

The Apostle Paul says, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (I Thess. 5:17-18). This is the will of God; that we rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks. What we are, what we have, where we are, and all that happens in the life of a believer are all according to the will of God for us.

Let us rejoice in prosperity or adversity and live in an attitude of thanksgiving and prayer, even when we have no particular request. Very ungrateful is the man who does not set so high a value on the love of God, the righteousness of Christ, and the hope of eternal life that he allows anything in this life to overshadow that wonderful gift of grace.

How can I murmur and complain when I am a child of the King of Kings? Pastor Henry T. Mahan

WHAT GOD SAYS GOES.

Is That Scriptural?

  1. 1. God said, “Let there be light,” and the Bible says, “And there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)
  1. 2. Christ said, “Peace be still,” and the scriptures declare, “And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)
  1. 3. Our Lord called, “Lazarus, come forth,” and the Bible immediately responds and says, “And he that was dead came forth.” (John 11:43-44)

Our Lord through the prophet Isaiah said, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) It sure sounds to me like what God says goes. Pastor David L. Eddmenson

The LORD of Hosts…The God of Jacob (Ps. 46:11)

Here the Psalmist speaks as directed by the Holy Spirit to praise and bless the LORD who is the Refuge of His people. The LORD who is with us is declared to be, “The LORD of hosts,” the One who has universal dominion over the whole universe. He is the mighty God who rules and reigns in heaven and earth…who speaks and it is!
And He is revealed to be, “The God of Jacob.” He who has covenanted to be gracious to whom He will be gracious and show mercy to whom He will show mercy. The Mighty Commander and Emperor of all things is He who is touched with the feelings of our infirmities and whose heart is ravished with the eye of faith, love and desire from those that He has everlastingly loved.

Pastor Marvin Stalnaker

HE NEVER CHANGES

Hebrews 13:8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.”

I am so thankful that as I grow older and things change, inside and out, that there is One who never changes.

1. His love never changes with time, for He loved me with an everlasting love that knows no change.

2. His power never changes. He is just as able to keep me from falling today as when I first began.

3. His Word never changes: “God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19). Has He not magnified His Word above His Name?

4. His election of me shall never change. He will never cast off those whom He has chosen, for they will never do anything that He did not know about and has not already taken care of.

5. The power of His blood shall never change. It still cleanses from all sin. No matter how deep the stain has gone, His blood washes it away.

6. His Sacrifice will never change, it will never lose its effectiveness because it is always fresh in the midst of the Throne of God: “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain…” (Rev. 5:6).

We have a living sacrifice standing in the midst of the Throne of God. When we rise out of our beds in the morning and go through our changes, just remember that there is One who remains the same yesterday, today and forever: The Rock Christ Jesus.

Pastor John Chapman
