This is an introductory Lord's day. As a believer the child of God experiences God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Many deny the trinity of God which is in both the new and old testament Scriptures however. As we approach God's Trinity we do so from an incomprehensible view point as it is all the envelope of an incomprehensible God! One being yet three persons in that one being. God Triune is the basis of our confession!
Incomprehensible: We should not be surprised that the Trinity is not explicitly explained to us. Nevertheless it is a matter of salvation and the believer knows God in His trinity! Can we fully understand God and His kingdom? The full concept of our salvation? No. Who can plummet the depths of the cross? Most certainly, it is the same dealing with the Triune God Himself. What we understand defines and who will define God? We can never grasp God or Trinity, but we believe as it is told us in Scripture. "I" is our reputation in my person with all our experiences (Our "I print so to speak") A distinct personality.
Revealed: God is one Being but here are three that can say "I." They retain their own distinct personality but He is always one in the work of God! Always in perfect harmony with each other! They are nevertheless in harmony in the diversity of His three persons in perfect fellowship. He can commune with Himself. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. We can identify the persons but can go no further that that! It is a matter of faith as we believe it as He reveals it to us in His Word! It is found in the old testament, the Psalms, the very first chapter of the Bible as He communes with Himself, and many other passages. "Let US make man in our own image and likeness." In the new dispensation, the Trinity becomes clearer as the three persons are shown distinctively in their distinct offices and in their part in salvation. God the Father....Creator! God the Son....and our Salvation! God the Holy Spirit...and our Sanctifier! The Trinity is involved with all that God does (although God the Father stands out in creation.) We know our salvation in God the Son. We know we are a child of God as it is applied by the Holy Spirit who witnesses with our spirit and continues to lead us in the Word. The richness of the Triune God shows itself in the life of the child of God.
Experienced: Incomprehensible, but nevertheless experienced by the child of God. Scripture reveals it to us. Forever incomprehensible to us, but the Triune God who is blest forever!
