The narrative of Noah is a beautiful one, but there is more to it. And do we teach it to our children and is it a witness that affects us in our daily lives? Is it an incentive that affects us as we run our race? Noah built in response and by faith took hold of, lived, followed, and witnessed to himself and the world around of that Word of God! We are building our ark a we stand in God's promises!
"Noah being warned of things that were not yet seen..." The flood was redemption to Noah and his family. The point (original) is Noah was divinely instructed by God in regards to the world and his salvation. It was direct revelation (in the age of the patriarchs) to Noah of His covenant. This was essentially the Gospel being spoken to Noah. Noah saw Christ! He understood that it was Christ's righteousness that saved him and his family. Wickedness was abounding and we read it is suggested that Noah and his family stood singular in his faithfulness to God.
You can imagine the mockery. It had not rained, there was no sear but yet were confronted with their wickedness as Noah was building the ark and standing by faith in the matter of his activity. The flood is a witness of this hero of faith...of the end of the world. We cannot stay with the story and miss the witness and testimony of God however. As were Noah's days...so are our days! What do we read in our news every single day? (Romans chapter 1) We live in a world of great foolishness and who today TRULLY serves God over the creature except the small group of the church?! And Noah's testimony was that he was moved with fear, obedience, and awe and prepared an ark in that Godly fear. 450' long. 6 Semi trailers long. 75' wide and 3 stories tall built in the middle of "nowhere" and by faith climbed in the ark and preached about standing against EVERYONE. Not compromising but standing by himself! Noah showed his faith by building the ark. He showed faith BY his works! Are we too building our ark or compromising, blending in with our surroundings and NOT being distinctive? Are we condemning the world as we teach our children?
We can use it as "show and tell" to them and not just a story we tell. This is what we/I believe from the bottom of my heart and this is why...and I will NEVER give it up! Noah did this all by faith and testified that he was the heir of righteousness! It belonged to him and to the saving of his family he did this. We take our children with us too as we build our ark.......and we will tell it with emphasis and live it as we and our children are heirs of that righteousness!
