"They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion,
which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,
so the LORD is round about His people
from henceforth even for ever."
(Psalm 125:1-2)

WE MEET TO WORSHIP
TUNE: "THIS IS MY FATHER’S WORLD" SM/DOUBLE
WORDS BY JIM BYRD

1. Lord now Thy people meet,
To praise and worship Thee;
We bow ourselves before Thy feet,
And homage raise to Thee.
For Thou art God alone,
Eternal Lord of all;
On bended knee before Thy throne,
Upon Thy name we call.

2. Though far from Thee we strayed,
"Show mercy," is our cry;
Without Thy sovereign grace and aid,
We must forever die.
O grant that we would live,
To praise and honor Thee;
All laud and glory we will give,
Now and eternally.

3. Exalt Thy Son O Lord,
Who hung upon the tree;
'Twas by His death we were restored,
And justified by Thee.
He is our Righteousness,
His death upon the cross;
Delivered us from sinfulness,
From endless pain and loss.

IT IS FINISHED
" When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost" (John 19:30). When Christ died on the cross for the sins of His people, what exactly was finished (brought to its full and final completion and culmination)?

Consider the following:

(1) The whole will of God in regard to the ground of redemption (Hebrews 10:7).

(2) The whole work His Father had given Him to do in saving His people (I Timothy 1:15).

(3) The Old Covenant law and all types and ceremonies (Hebrews 10:9-14).

(4) The righteousness of God performed, perfected, and which is imputed to believers (Romans 3:19-24; Romans 10:4; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

The proof of the accomplishment of all that He came to do was His resurrection from the dead (Acts 17:31). Salvation and eternal life is the gift of God, not of works on our part, but through the Person and work of our substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21). As the hymn writer wrote, "‘Tis finished: the great transaction’s done; I am my Lord’s and He is mine." Nothing need be nor can be added to His finished work. –copied

THE PURPOSE, PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST
"Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world" (1 John 4:2-3). With so many voices being heard in the religious world, how can one determine who speaks for God and who does not? Here is the issue: what does a man say about the purpose, person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ? Be assured of this: every true preacher of the gospel will set forth the everlasting counsel of the Lord that gave birth to the salvation of chosen sinners by the sacrifice of the eternal Son enabling God to be "a just God and a Savior" (Isaiah 45:21). He will proclaim the deity and humanity of Jesus of Nazareth declaring that One born of a virgin to be "Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:23). He is the Son of God and the Son of Man, "God manifest in the flesh" (1 Timothy 3:16). The Lord’s servants will uncompromisingly assert His absolute sovereignty, eternal suretyship, successful sacrifice, perfect righteousness, intercessory work, quickening grace, preserving power and glorious second coming. Every false preacher will either oppose or in some way diminish the Savior’s everlasting purpose of salvation, His marvelous identity or His effectual work of redemption. Those who declare a salvation that is ultimately dependent upon or conditioned upon the sinner, do not set forth the Christ of the Scriptures. Our Savior is the triumphant Redeemer of Whom it was written, "He shall not fail" (Isaiah 42:4). Failure is an impossibility with God and our Redeemer is "the mighty God" (Isaiah 9:6). His name is Jesus. What does that glorious name mean? It means just this - "He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). –Pastor Jim Byrd
