I wanted to take a moment to explain two types of Pastors/Ministers/Servants, whatever you call that fellow who is entrusted to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You have the traditional type of pastor. He seems warm, friendly, unassuming and interested in you personally.
He will never upset you or criticize your lifestyle (that is, not too deeply). He will never preach on the deadly aspects of an unconverted life.
In short, he will do nothing to cause the church member to leave and take their tithe money with them.
Because he is only interested in your money. You are his meal ticket (and in the even worse congregations, her meal ticket). His whole effort is to earn a living off of you, the church member.
Then we have the other type of Pastor. One who preaches and teaches the Word of God. One who isn't interested in your bank accounts.
You have a man who fears God and will never put the Gospel in a friendly and non-judgemental manner. He (and NOT she) will preach the truth to you no matter what it may cost him.
He isn't controlled by the US Government via the 501(C)3. His only care, is the honor and GLORY of God.
Your souls, the souls of your children, are his priority.
He will NEVER entrust the well being of your children to a late teen, or early 20 something man (or, God Forbid, woman) in some ridiculous, non-Biblical youth ministry (essentially, a babysitter).
Take a moment and have a look at your pastor. Is he doing what the Bible commands in training men to be Godly ministers? Is he instructing women to take their place in the Godly service that is given to them? Are the children attending the "big church"?
I know I might take heat for this but I do not care.
My job is to train up men to be God fearing men. To teach them the Gospel.
I do this, by taking from those who were much smarter and had far less distraction than I did and do.
I occasionally write a sermon and preach it, but normally only give what the Holy Spirit gave to better men than I. There is no need to re-write sermons into my language in an effort to "earn my pay".
They said it quite clearly.
I haven't taken a cent from any of you, nor have I taken a shoe lace. I never will.
That is the difference.
Those who wish to get their ministry from the robbers of widows and orphans, so be it. I have nothing to do with you nor will I even try to cause you to turn away.
God Alone, draws men to Christ. I will trust in God.
