We find here another manifestation of the heart of the virtuous woman. She has a desire to do good toward her family. She isn’t driven by a career in fine linen, but by a love for her family. Her love motivates her willingness to work hard to meet the needs of her household. Again, she isn’t trying to build an empire, and she isn’t looking for the praise and attention of others, she’s caring for her family. It is very doubtful that she is doing all of the leg work in this task. She has servants, she knows how to delegate, and she exercises wisdom and discernment. The reason I bring all this up, is to make the point that this verse is not calling busy women or mothers to get busier. It is illustrating the manifestations of the inward virtues this woman possesses. God considers the heart. And the same God who considers your heart, is also transforming your heart through grace and truth. Be encouraged, God is not necessarily calling you to a bigger to do list, but rather to a pursuit of being conformed to the image of Christ.
