May those who fear You see me and be glad, because I wait for Your word. – Psalm 119:74
Do those who fear the Lord see you and, in watching you, are inspired to go on for God? Are they encouraged to be faithful to God? This is what the psalmist is praying. That’s a prayer that I would hope we all would have.
He says, “because I wait for Your word.” Do you pray that as brothers and sisters see you stand on the word in the fires of persecution that they will be inspired to stand on the word also? I pray that as brothers and sisters see me in the valley of despair, struggling and weak, that I yet run to the word and wait on the word, and the word gets me through. Then they are inspired when they are in the valley of despair to wait on the word of God also.
How often the war wages within our hearts! Our thoughts and feelings oppose us. Have you ever been walking with God and your feelings come against you? Have you matured to where you understand you do not live according to your feelings? You live according to His word. You have to tell your feelings to get in line with the word of God. Many of us need to keep learning how to stop listening to ourselves and start talking to ourselves from the word of God.
Sometimes our friends oppose us. Sometimes both our friends and our flesh oppose us. But, like the psalmist says, in those situations though we may fall and we may struggle, yet we wait on the word of God. And His word never fails! Then our experience will inspire those who fear Him to be glad. Be an inspiration to others; be one that makes the saints glad!
