Jonah (Part 8)
Blessings brethren... those of you who follow me on Instagram already know this, but for you that are not, I’ve been sharing some principles from our Nesting With Jesus readings in Jonah. I created an IGTV Channel and have been uploading some devotional videos from Jonah. If you can or when you can come join me on Instagram and prayerfully the videos will bless and help you. Link provided to my IGTV feed.
The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. And that word and the message he would be given for Nineveh had life in it to believe, fulfill and bear fruit to the glory of God. I’m remind of a time when God opened the gates of a prison and sent His servants to a place, a people and with a message to proclaim. He opened the mouth of a great fish, twice, for Jonah and Nineveh and in Acts He opened the gates of a government prison for the apostles and the people of Jerusalem.
Go, stand and speak to the people... all the words of this life. (Acts 5:20)
“...all the words of THIS life [you now live, love and lead others to live, love and be consumed with].”
Wow... a life and lifestyle that comes with consumable and consuming words of life! These words are like paint in the hands of an artist. Without them, all we have is an empty and blank canvas with nothing eternal in our reach to create a gracious and glorious work of art that honors and praises Jesus and word of His grace.
I absolutely love this message given to Peter. When God’s people have an assignment, nothing can thwart or get in the way of them fulfilling the mission. Gates nor guards nor government nor great waters nor great fish can stand a chance at stopping God or His servants from walking in the will of God.
For the Lord invaded the natural order of things and put the guards in a deep sleep (without their permission, glory!!!) opened the prison doors and released Peter, like He did with Jonah, to GO tell a specific group of PEOPLE and a certain PLACE all the words that supported, supplied, sustained and set this life and lifestyle apart from ALL others. It had to be told... glory!!! Remember this, the safest place, no matter where it may be, even in the most dangerous place in the world, is under the wings of the Almighty (in His will, doing His work, resting in His nest (His protection and provision) all as we abide in Christ Jesus).
I want to live under His wings... don’t you? Let me encourage you to INVEST what is necessary to INDULGE yourself in the words of this life. Because this life has words that define and describe and declare and defend who we are in Christ Jesus. They are words that are worthy of the gospel and God's richest blessings.
You’ll want to think and meditate on those things which are true, honest, noble, praise worthy, and of a good report. Your mind and heart will need to feed upon God's Word, and cling to the INTIMATE fellowship of abiding in Christ and be filled with the Holy Spirit, that you, too, can be a vessel regularly sent, to a specific group of people, with a priority and purpose to share the words and wisdom that support your life. He wants you to be consumed with Him, The words of this life, His ways, leading your family, His people and His work for His glory. He is your life...
He is your life... if you’re His. He’s not to be a major part of it... He is your life. You are the canvas and His word is the paint that He will use to make your life a beautiful work of His grace and glory (Acts 5:20).
I want to encourage you, my friend, to be indulgent... yes, I invite you to daily INDULGE yourself in the vast ocean of His relentless love and the deep waters of His redeeming and refreshing grace. For it is in Him that you will find great comfort in the calm sea of His abundant life, in the midst of a chaotic world of despair and delusion. He’s opened the doors for you to:
• Step Out... go, from Him and for Him.
• Speak Up... before the people He’s given you to love and lead.
• Stand Firm... on Jesus and His message, they can’t chain His word.
• Show Forth... demonstrate the words of this life and declare it can be theirs, too.
WHAT DOORS HAS HE OPENED FOR YOU? Don’t wait... go, stand and speak, somebody, somewhere needs you, your message and the redeeming grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Go...
