“Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.” vs7

We must wait patiently on the Lord, rather than taking matters into our hands. He sees the righteous, and He will provide for us. Let us come to Him in prayer and make our requests known, pouring out our heart in thanksgiving, and let us be thankful that WE ARE HEARD by a merciful and faithful God.

We don’t need to stress like everything is up to us, like the wicked are getting away with ease: We have all that we need in Christ, and if we wait, then He will provide.

Wait in hope. He says, “Wait expectly for Him.” Don’t be discouraged or faithless, lusting and complaining! So often we see the prosperity of the wicked, and what we COULD HAVE, if we turned from Jesus Christ, but we must know that He’s gracious. He is not a God who cannot hear, a Father who doesn’t care, or a Great Being who cannot provide. He is all of these things, and His wisdom and timing are best. Let us prepare ourselves by prayer and good works for His peace and sure provision.

Secondly, the Lord will be your strength in tough times, and He will support you [vs16-17]. “For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous [vs17].” While the wicked lose it all, you’ll gain. While the unrighteous are perishing, you’ll be held up with your sufficiency in Christ Jesus. It is NOT that He’s not enough, and we must suffer: The wicked do not have it better. We have the Comforter, but we need to apply His strength. We have a Refuge, but we need to run.

It is the lie of Satan that we are losing, so he makes us think, “What is the point in serving God?” Therefore, we are discouraged, quit, or simply hide our light, run off into sin, and our witness is damaged. God deliver us from these things, these lies of Satan! God is the Greatest, and the peace is real. The joy and comfort WILL COME. Only look to Him. Do not be discouraged by present pain, when you have a thirst quenching God. Trust Him to fill you up, and be filled.

Finally, there is a distinct difference between the wicked and the righteous: God sees it [vs18-21]! “The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous shows mercy and gives.” He is not blind to your character and good works, and He will never forget. “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love, which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister [Heb 6:10].”

We feel like we are serving in vain, but we are not! We feel dead in prayer and cold in preaching, feeling like no one is listening in heaven or on earth! Oh, how the righteous are tempted, but walk by faith. He sees everything done in His name. Trust in the Lord and do good: He will reward you. He sees your sacrificial love. He sees your labor and your hope [1 Thess 1:3]. He sees that you’ve turned from idols to serve Him, and He knows how HARD it is in this world!
