“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Only the Blood of Christ can take away the guilt of sin before God for the lost. But for the child of God, there is no recovery from being backslidden if we hide our sin in self denial. Recovery is always hard work, especially from the pit of pride. Repentance is more than just admitting that what we have done is wrong. That is only half of the job. Forsaking and turning from it is the hard part. Not many have the backbone for it, nor the heart! It is only true repentance if we are really trying to stop!
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
