CALL TO WORSHIP

(Tune – Take My Life and Let It Be – p. 393)

Brethren, let us join to bless

Christ our Peace and Righteousness;

Let our praise to Him be given,

High at God’s right hand in heaven. (Repeat)

Son of God, to Thee we bow,

Thou art Lord, and only Thou;

Thou the woman’s promised seed.

Thou, who didst for sinners bleed. (Repeat)

Thee the angels ceaseless sing,

Thee we praise, our Priest and King;

Worthy is Thy name of praise,

Full of glory, full of grace. (Repeat)

Thou hast the glad tidings brought

Of salvation fully wrought;

Wrought, O Lord alone by Thee,

Wrought, to set Thy people free. (Repeat)

Thee, our Lord, would we adore,

Serve and follow more and more;

Praise and bless Thy matchless love,

Till we join Thy saints above. (Repeat)

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Romans 15:13). The joy and peace that only God can give is that joy and peace we find as we look to, rest in, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ for all salvation, all forgiveness, and all righteousness. This is the assurance of God’s grace, and this is our hope in which we abound. This kind of joy and peace can neither be found in man’s philosophies, religions, nor in man’s inventions. That kind of joy and peace can never last. But God gives His people ETERNAL joy and peace IN BELIEVING that CHRIST IS OUR SALVATION, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, OUR HOPE.

--Pastor Bill Parker

Lay the foundation of your hope in Jesus Christ. Begin with Christ and end with Christ. As Christ Jesus becomes more to you, self will grow less and less. If your faith puffs you up, it is not the faith of Christ. God will help us when we are weak. He will bless us as long as we confess our dependence upon His blessing. He will fill us when we are empty. He will feed us when we are hungry. He will be our all when we are nothing. He will forgive us when we are guilty. But the moment we begin to boast in ourselves and feel sufficient, we will be left to learn, in no uncertain terms, that we are naked, poor, blind, and miserable. Terrible will be the day when proud rebels discover, too late, the dust and ashes of human merit. – Copied

THE PLAN TODAY

The plan today is to make the church as much like the world as possible, so that unregenerate people will not feel uncomfortable and will be attracted to its ministry! Turn the church into a theater; worship into a musical display; ministers into actors and clowns to amuse and entertain; sermons into political, patriotic, or philosophical essays; and the living God into a “good buddy” whose attributes are adjustable to any culture or creed. This will attract the flesh and successfully quench the Spirit.

-- Scott Richardson

When the Apostle Paul first came to certain disciples in Ephesus, He asked the following question – “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” (Acts 19:23). This would be better translated – “Did you receive the Holy Spirit WHEN you believed?” or “The Holy Spirit did ye receive—HAVING BELIEVED?” What are the evidences of having received the Holy Spirit? If we have received the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus stands high in our estimation, and our views of ourselves are very humbling. And just in proportion to the power and depth of the Spirit's work will be our conceptions of the glory, grandeur, and excellency of the Savior; and our discoveries of the depravity, pollution, weakness, and misery of our own hearts. If, therefore, we have heart affecting views of the glory of Christ and His finished work, and if we lie low in the dust under a sense of our weakness and worthlessness, so that we are brought to depend wholly on Christ and His righteousness alone for our justification before God, we have surely received the Holy Spirit. –Copied

FOLLOWERS OF THE LAMB

In Revelation 14:4, God's elect are described as “These are they which follow the Lamb...” To follow the Lamb of God is to follow His Word. In this, we cannot fear men which is to be ensnared. We cannot follow tradition which is contrary to His Word. We cannot follow our emotions which often are found against His Word. We cannot follow the course of this world which is totally against the Lamb's Word. We cannot follow our families and friends when they set themselves against His Word. The way of the Lamb is the way of the cross! In all matters in question it must be asked, “Am I following the Lamb?” Only if I am following His WORD! –Pastor Gary Shepard

THE HOPE OF TRUE PREACHING

I do not come into this pulpit hoping that perhaps somebody will of his own free will return to Christ. My hope lies in another quarter. I hope that my Master will lay hold of some of them and say, "You are mine, and you shall be mine. I claim you for myself." My hope arises from the freeness of grace, and not from the freedom of the will (Rom.9:16). --Copied
