This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
This video was sent to me by Zelda who lives near the unrest in South Africa and it gives you some insight into what is happening there at the moment as well as how best to pray for the country. For the first time in history citizens of all ethnic backgrounds have stood together & stated "enough"... Citizens banded together amongst police with their approval & fought the opportunists off. I don't know about smaller villages. By God's intervening mercies, He has allowed Newcastle & most other communities to keep their infrastructure intact.
Unfortunately some industrial areas were flattened by fire & looting where the poor worked! Now jobless.
We've all been in a gaze this past week. My daughter Juliette is improving daily for which we praise our God. The hemorrhage is shrinking. Her O2 levels are not fully up due to where it was situated, confront of the Pons (etc) that involves lung function ... all nerves. By miraculous intervention not touching it or the other vitals going down the brain stem. Steven I just cant express my praise & thanks enough... she has been so far from our Lord Jesus in the last 13 years & each time I encouraged her to call to Jesus Christ to save & deliver her she answered thru whatever was going thru her blurry mind "I am..."
The Lord will often use unrest and hardship in order to turn men and women to Himself. I was reminded of great financial crash in 1857 that occurred in America around the time of the Third Great Awakening.
"In the day of calamity, men consider. When the
hand of God is suddenly laid upon city and country, the
sources of prosperity dried up, fortunes taking to themselves wings; houses, venerable for years, integrity, and
success, tumbling into ruins, it is natural to believe that men will look
away from themselves, and say, “Verily there is a God,
who reigns.” As in the time of an earthquake, or wreck
at sea, men’s hearts failing them for fear, they will cry to
Him who rides upon the whirlwind, so it was believed
that the financial storm had driven men to pray. And it
doubtless did.
It was acknowledged to be a judgment.

We had a really nice 2-hour lunch with Julia's siblings yesterday. It was a rare opportunity to have her entire family (except one who was unable to make it) around the table. I have known the Mulfinger family for many years and so it was a special honor for me to be able to speak to them for about 20 minutes.
I mentioned how much I respected their godly parents, George and Joan Mulfinger. George Mulfinger was one of the early champions in the Creation Science movement who went around the country debating evolutionists and went on to help write the first science textbook for Christian schools from a Biblical worldview. As I prayed about this lunch, I was thinking if their parents were still alive, what would they want to say to their children? You know, friends, the Lord will often use His people to speak into the lives of our children and grandchildren long after we're gone. So, let us never shy away from being His mouthpiece. Our simple obedience in this may be the answer to some parent's prayer. I shared with them the passage out of Ephesians 6 that reveals to us that we are in a spiritual war and that we need to understand that the devil has a giant target on each of our backs. He wants to take us out. His method is to discourage and deceive us so that we doubt the promises of God—effectively rendering us useless in the battle. I said that it would give him no greater pleasure than to destroy, deface, and dishonor the succeeding families of this godly couple who did so much for the kingdom. We need to be awake to this ever present threat and fight this warfare with spiritual weapons—prayer being paramount. And having done all, to stand.
I can only pray that God will be pleased to use my weak presentation of this truth to bring some lasting fruit in the lives of these dear families. Continue to pray for the Mulfinger family as you are able. They are fighting an uphill battle in many cases.
