LA Times Continues to Target John MacArthur’s Church
MacArthur and church attorneys declined to respond to repeated requests for an interview. MacArthur, in the Fox News interview with host Laura Ingraham, stood his ground. “Our church is literally flooded with people. We have them in every nook and cranny jammed together,” he said, saying worshipers are attending “to hear the message of forgiveness and salvation in a time when fear is being propagated on every street.”
Members of the church interviewed by The Times, most of whom declined to provide their full names because of privacy concerns, gave a wide range of reasons for agreeing with the church’s stance.
Lance, 22, a Santa Clarita resident, said “it’s not that dangerous for someone like me,” referring to the lower, but sometimes serious, health risks the virus seems to pose to young people....

The problem is, Tim, that is exactly what you do. You do not believe that the Spirit of God successfully brings God's elect to faith, and so you have to convince sinners of the gospel yourself, using all sorts of emotional appeals. It is no different to the psychological manipulation used by crusade preachers, with all the "just as I am..." music and soothing tones of the preacher, and the peer pressure [of so-called Christians getting up out of their chair to go to the front, as if they were repenting sinners themselves, thereby trying to encourage others to do the same, not relying on the Spirit of God but manipulation of the mind].
The gospel is the gospel of God's marvellous grace. It is an irresistible grace, and it is amazing grace. And it is for the whole world to hear, and the elect to respond to. The gospel is God calling his elect.

Whenever the Diotrophean spirit manifests itself on the forum, it will inevitably accuse others, because it is in its own interest to do so. The real Diotrophes is the one who not only does not accept the theology, practice, or posts, of those who disagree with him or her, but makes every effort to sarcastically prevent him or her from posting their thoughts and claims. This is the psychological manipulation and power struggle they are engaged with, which is contrary to Christianity. But there is never any acknowledgment of that, of course not; pride prevents. And so Diotrophes goes on his merry way, even looking to evangelical feminists for support, and all the time, people are put off attending IFB churches and Joyce Meyer concerts.
Now me myself, I am happy to believe in freedom of speech, which the communists and Diotrophes do not believe in, and so they try to prevent me. But they forget I am a freedom fighter, and I will fight for their right to act ungodly like.
I have some fine brothers here, but I seldom use the term because of something noticed over the years. It seems to be used here primarily when a brother agrees with you about something discussed. I don’t expect my brothers in the Lord to always agree with me, nor will I always agree with them. But I will hold them as brothers anyway. We're brothers because of Jesus Christ, not because of side issues, of which most threads should be categorized. But if agreement about Trump or covid or Canada or America makes us brothers, and disagreement makes it too hard to say, then for me the term brother has lost something valuable. There is enough to be sad about. We should remember the narrow road is a bumpy one.

It appears there is somewhat of a tag team here, this 'team' is claiming how others, particularly 'Americans', are 'this and that'. We have one in particular chime in claiming Americans are above correction, yet HOW MANY TIMES has this SAME PERSON revealed their own haughtiness countless times here?! It's a sad state when 'professing believers' attack and cause division.. and cannot see their OWN logs protruding extensively from their eyes. Pride is obviously a sin EVERYONE is guilty of... this thread is a testimony to that. The DIFFERENCE is when it is *recognized* in the mind, then confessed to God. Conviction comes from the Spirit of God in the minds of the elect. IF it isn't recognized, it grows like a cancer, 'I thank you I am NOT LIKE 'others'.... The question has been presented, "What specifically do you disagree with Bro Lurker's example that lead you to think he is blind to the truth?" It has NOT been addressed. Why? When you fail to see your shortcomings, your OWN pride filled ways, what is that comparable to in God's word? The prayers of the Pharisee reveal much.
