Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? I Corinthians 6
He shouldn't be taking them to court and beyond that he already ruined his own reputation therefore it was impossible for the university to damage it.
This is indeed a tragic story. Liberty University made a great mistake when it allowed the foundsr’s son to become their 2nd president. This is a mistake that some fundamentalist churches make, to automatically make the founding pastor’s son or nephew, or a relative as their next pastor, at least without going in to his Christian testimony and really examining his character closely. The church needs plural eldership, the university needs an internal board of trustees to whom the President is accountable, and an external board of reference of godly pastors who can check on these things. The medieval Roman Catholic Church often appointed nephews and illegitimate sons of Popes to high office, this was called nepotism, along with simony, the sale of offices. The Italian brother Phillip Mezzapelle pointed out the right Bible verse. Whatever little reputation that Jerry Falwell Jr may have had will vanish with this court case. Liberty University must completely start from scratch, and go back completely to a solid Biblical and fully evangelical foundation, trusting in God alone.
Liberty is a university that some of our friends have trusted to meet the educational needs/desires of themselvs and their children. It certainly is not the same as when Fallwell Sr. was alive. Not much has gone on there in the last decade that hasn't raised eyebrows, at least the tidbits that reach our ears or screens.
Someone is going to have to get a handle on the vision and purpose of the institution and get it back on track, if it is going to be saved. That will be messy, difficult work...rooting out the liberals and heretics, establishing Biblical standard, upholding the word and Word above all things. May the Lord preserve Liberty.

Jerry Falwell Jr. isn't a brother, and neither is the court he's using. This man's reputation was destroyed long before the university found out about his transgressions. He should take responsibility for his sins and repent instead of passing the blame onto someone else.
