Died: Luci Swindoll, Who Believed in God’s Grace and Being Herself
Luci Swindoll, a devotional author and popular speaker known for her celebration of life and commitment to being herself, died this week after contracting COVID-19. She was 88.
Swindoll wrote a popular book on Christian singleness in the 1980s and became one of the first Women of Faith speakers in the 1990s when the organization launched as a counterpart to the men’s ministry Promise Keepers. Swindoll, the older sister of prominent preacher Chuck Swindoll, had a message about God’s grace.
“Legalism is the worst thing that ever happened to the church,” she said. “When I realized that God deals in grace … it set me free to be who I really am.”...
Amen sister, your point was not missed. I am no 'spring chicken' myself, but I know my times are in His hands. Have a blessed evening
One more thing, my sister in law is an RN, she came down with an illness in the fall of 2019, she said she was never so sick in all her life, she's in her 40's. She recovered and now is convinced it was the coronavirus. The same story was told to me by my postmaster, her illness happened in February of this year. She too recovered....
Yes indeed sister Lb. It felt to me just like the flu. My point in posting my experience, was even though you take all the precautions, you may get sick. Folk need to trust the Lord and not in masks and hand sanitizer. I have never seen so much fear in people who say they are Christians...terrible witness!
Sister MS, I praise the Lord you've recovered. What some don't realize is there is a family of coronaviruses, which includes the common cold. So, when they test someone and tell them they're 'positive', it could be something as simple as a cold, or it could be more severe. In any case, I am grateful that you are okay https://www.niaid.nih.gov/diseases-conditions/coronaviruses
Chuck Swindol has preached on “grace “ for decades. But what He has had problems with is when giving people “ grace “ means putting up with terrible behavior that shows up , when people aren’t saved. His own son is a cult leader out of Colorado. Chuck Jr. has preached smoking ganja and drinking shroom tea cured him of cancer. He has a very long cult leader YouTube video talking about how his special blend of dope will cure you of everything. So, sadly the Swindol family throws it on the wall and if it sticks , then it’s all about Grace.
I’ll add my 2 mites to this. I caught it in August. I am in the ‘vulnerable’ age group. I always wore a mask and disposable gloves to shop and go to medical appointments. I took no medication except Tylenol for body aches and slight fever. My husband who is older is completely healthy and never had so much as a sniffle, even though we live in a small house and did not quarantine one from another.
Well, God does give us an immune system doesn't He? I am in His hands, I am NOT worried about a virus. People will die, that's inevitable. How they die is irrelevant, they are in need of hearing about the finished work of Christ, not their 'works'. The elect will hear, they will come. And we praise Him this is so... Sister MS, this is a great message from Tim James - https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=1021202247507958
Amen sister MS. As for the death of this 88 year old woman NO ONE KNOWS if she had underlying health issues. In any event, her APPOINTED TIME had come. God took her out of here, was it because of a virus? What does the word of God say? "The wages of sin is death". People die every day, from various causes, but, the end 'cause' of death is SIN. Herbal Mama, I have NOT been sick from this 'virus', and I praise God for that. I have been exposed to it several times, I work for USPS and have had to disinfect the entire post office because of two cases. I also was sent to two other post offices to disinfect as well, so that's FOUR times I've been 'exposed'. I did not wear a mask any of those times. Now, if I get sick and die, hallelujah! Too bad some don't get as worked up over, say, the MILLIONS of babies that get murdered every year. But let's get on a soap box over a virus that has a 99% recovery rate for most folks. Too bad those babies don't have any choice in their fate right? It's amazing how some push the narrative under the guise of 'Christianity'....
Autocorrect*unsurvivable. *to my knowledge LB hasn't gotten sick from it. My large family and extended family haven't nor have our shopping habits changed, etc. Life is normal for us but supposedly everybody around us is dropping like flies (in a highly populated state) yet all these people are unknown or elderly. Interesting.
Lol, the irony of Lb and I is that within 8 months of a deadly, unforgivable, highly contagious pandemic neither I nor LB, to my knowledge, have become ill, let alone deadly ill, from this virsus. Well, I'll be. The fear was for nothing. Lol, keep shouting and the sheeple will continue to baa in obedience.
...and if she was in Christ she is rejoicing and praising her Lord and Savior, for such a great gift of salvation for sinners accomplished at the cross of Calvary.
HerbalMama wrote: She's 88. Not a young, working adult. Not a child. An 88 year old woman. How do you know she wasn't wearing a mask and/or social distancing?
If she bought into the hype and was anything like you or LB, then chances are she wasn't because she was too intelligent and wise to do so.

She now knows the the truth about God's purposes for women and men. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
And unfortunately the truth about COVID. It's a shame it always comes too late.
""We can’t make people believe, but if they see in the believer love and fun and joy and just the thrill of being alive, they say, ‘What is it they have that I don't have? I want it.’”
That's not how God and witness works. Eph 2:1-6.

Quote:- "A Definition of Legalism 1. Using the Mosaic covenant as though it is the covenant between you and God. 2. Attempting to be justified by one's own works. 3. Attempting to be sanctified by one's own works 4. Suggesting that our worth or worthlessness, our self-esteem and self-satisfaction or lack thereof, rest on our own works. 5. Any attempt to please God judicially, or any supposition that our sin as believers has resulted in his judicial displeasure. [Any post-salvation attempt to maintain our judicial standing before God through good works, covenant faithfulness, merit etc..] 6. Teaching that we conform ourselves to our judicial standing in Christ (righteous and perfect) by our own works. 7. Attempting to attain godliness by a systematic change of behavior 8. Obedience that does not spring from a renewed heart a. As of an unbeliever who has no renewed heart b. As of a believer who has a renewed heart but whose righteous behavior does not spring therefrom." (Bill Baldwin)

The article stated that Swindoll never married. So you are stating that it is a sin for a woman not to get married? My Great Aunt(My Mom's Aunt and Sister of my Mom's Mom) never married and worked and resided in Los Angeles, California.
