Baptists respond to pope’s endorsement of same-sex civil unions
SBC President J.D. Greear was among several Southern Baptist leaders who reaffirmed the SBC’s conviction that marriage is an institution created by God and exclusive to one man and one woman.

“No matter what a pope, pastor or elected official says, we do not get to define sexuality or the family,” said Greear, who is also pastor of The Summit Church in the Raleigh-Durham, N.C., area. “The Creator does, and on this His word could not be more clear.”

The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 defines homosexuality as sin and marriage as “the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.” Messengers to several SBC annual meetings have approved resolutions relating to and reaffirming those convictions. ...

The Jesuit pope by keeping up with the trends of secular society is maintaining it's papal power and influence in this world to advance roman Catholicism showing it's true colours as the enemy of the LORD who changes not. Satan knows when God's laws are changed no matter what the cost, it will ultimately hurt the true saints who don't bow the knee to Baal
1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith
Chapter 26: Of the Church
4. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, in whom, by the appointment of the Father, all power for the calling, institution, order or government of the church, is invested in a supreme and sovereign manner; neither can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof, but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God; whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.
( Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11, 12; 2 Thessalonians 2:2-9 )

Strictly speaking the “Infallibility of the Pope”, a doctrine formally invented by Pope Pius IX in the 1st Vatican Council, in 1870, just as Italian National troops, and their King were about to seize the Papal States of Central Italy, and the city of Rome, only refers to the actual statements made by the Pope “ex cathedra” declaring new doctrine as infallible from the “Chair of St Peter”. Anything else the Pope says, even in an encyclical, is not necessarily infallible, according to Catholic doctrine, though many Catholics may regard it as authoritative, and technically it can be rejected. A small number of Traditionalist Catholics, Cardinals, archbishops, bishops, clergy, deacons, monastics and laity have, and regularly reject the liberalist, globalist, modernist and Marxist utterances of Pope Francis, but many of the most powerful leaders in the Catholic Church go along with it.

I just don’t know how JD Greear can embrace critical race theory and BLM and say that he’s for traditional Christian marriage. Does he say, we stand with BLM( the idea of the traditional marriages is an affront to the proletariat) , and when that opinion collapsed, decided to take on the Soviet of world religion ( the RCC ) on their view of queer marriage ? Being consistent isn’t that hard.

Vicar of Christ (Lat. Vicarius Christi), a title of the pope implying his supreme and universal primacy, both of honor and of jurisdiction, over the Church of Christ. It is founded on the words of the Divine Shepherd to St. Peter: “Feed my lambs… Feed my sheep” (John, xxi, 16, 17), by which He constituted the Prince of the Apostles guardian of His entire flock in His own place, thus making him His Vicar and fulfilling the promise made in Matt. xvi, 18, 19. In the course of ages other vicarial designations have been used for the pope, as Vicar of St. Peter and even Vicar of the Apostolic See (Pope Gelasius, I, Ep. vi), but the title Vicar of Christ is more expressive of his supreme headship of the Church on earth, which he bears in virtue of the commission of Christ and with vicarial power derived from Him. Thus, Innocent III appeals for his power to remove bishops to the fact that he is Vicar of Christ (cap. “Inter corporalia”, 2, “De trans. ep.”). He also declares that Christ has given such power only to His Vicar Peter and his successors (cap. “Quanto”, 3, ibid.), and states that it is the Roman Pontiff who is “the successor of Peter and the Vicar of Jesus Christ” (cap. “` Licet”, 4, ibid.).

Well, Jim, you know the pope is infallible, so he must be right—just like Joe Biden in the mainstream media. If Pope A says that homosexuality is a terrible sin, and Pope B says that homosexuality isn’t all that bad, and then Pope C says there’s nothing wrong with it, then all three of them are correct, because they’re all popes. Now regular Joes (or Jims) like us would say it’s impossible for all three to be right, because they contradict each other, but when His Popiness plays the infallibility card, we just have to fold, because that trumps every other hand including history, logic, and even scripture. When we ask silly questions like “How is it possible for all three to be right,?” the answer is “Because we’re popes, and you’re not—nanny nanny boo boo!—and if you say one more word we’ll demonstrate our apostolic virtue and brotherly love by having you tortured and murdered.”

"There is convincing biblical evidence which proves the Roman Catholic Church is not "the one true church" nor "the household of God" nor "the pillar and foundation of the truth." In his first letter to Timothy, Paul uses the imagery of a spiritual temple to describe the Church. The "pillars" are that which uphold the truth as revealed and recorded in Scripture. Assuredly, the church upholds the truth but is not named as the source of truth. The "foundation of the truth" is Jesus Christ, who is the very personification of truth. Paul writes: "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 3:11). Christ is the cornerstone of the foundation which includes the prophets and the apostles, who gave divinely inspired testimony of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:20). Clearly this foundation was laid and completed in the first century. Once a builder lays a foundation, he does not continue to add to it. Yet the Catholic Church continues to add to its foundation with claims of apostolic succession, infallible papal pronouncements and evolving Tradition...."
