City drops charges against pastor fined $800 for holding worship services
The city of Niles, Illinois, has dropped all four “disorderly conduct” citations against Romanian Pastor Daniel Chiu who had been ordered to pay a fine of $800 for holding morning and evening worship services on two consecutive Sundays.

Announcing the dropping of all charges against Chiu of the Logos Baptist Ministries, Christian legal firm Liberty Counsel said it will now ask the Supreme Court to review the case in the federal lawsuit against Gov. J.B. Pritzker “for his unconstitutional executive orders discriminating against churches.”

“It is beyond belief that a pastor would be charged with ‘disorderly conduct’ for peacefully and safely holding a church service,” Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver said. ...

Forbes says that as long as they sing in any language except English they won't have to fear spreading covid19 as much.

This really is ridiculous. In Britain, congregational singing is still banned. After a little bit of an outcry, (very muted), the advice was changed to, a single singer inside can sing before a plexiglas screen, and a socially distanced choir outside. Now a few singers inside are allowed, socially distanced and behind a screen. Few churches are actually doing this, but most having said services, or like mine, (my church is in the strand that only allows congregational singing), still uses recorded hymns played over a (in the case of my church) tinny loudspeaker with people silently reading a paper, or in our case, hymn books, (evening service is online only, so hymn books can be “quarantined” until next Sunday morning!!). The quality of the recordings is better at the great Met Tab services, and thankfully cameras there do not show the masked, yes, masked congregation. What is the purpose of marking the congregation, yet forbidding then to sing!! That is the insult of the leftist globalists to the church!! You wear a compulsory mask, but you still cannot sing!! No, the psalms and the Bible commands otherwise!!!

It spreads through the air? Really? That must be the science speaking. I thought viruses spread by opening cereal boxes.

We best not be breathing, Jim. You stop first. But if you plan on breathing in spite of the danger you put your neighbor in, you might as well take of your mask. After all, CDC now is saying breathing and talking spread the virus, and as you know, breath passes through them. CDC is so weird.

Previously, the CDC page said that Covid-19 was thought to spread mainly between people in close contact -- about 6 feet -- and "through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks."

The page, updated Friday,

✓ Yes, church singing if they can get that under control it would also help with noise pollution problem

Timothy, Christianity Today had a later article That was complementary to John MacArthur. Actually people who think they shouldn't go to church because of Disease problems Can see most church services On the internet. It also has the added advantage, Of handling The aforementionedNoise pollution.

Jim, do you have a scripture reference whereby God delegated authority to Christianity Today to tell churches what they “should” do? Why don’t they man up and change their name to Progressivism Today? That’s what they “should” do.

There is always a day of reckoning. Those measures implemented or actions taken while "in crisis" will be fully examined on a calmer day. I saw this in Federal government years ago. It is a picture of the coming judgment of this world. Now is the time to make peace with the Son. Psalm 2 applies.

A very good article in "Christianity Today" on what health care measures a church should take
