The rising tide of homicides
Most U.S. cities don’t have a public data dashboard to track homicides. But nearby killings are such a regular part of Chicagoans’ lives that the Chicago Tribune keeps an ongoing graph of the number of murders and compares it to previous years’ totals. The city had 432 homicides through the end of July this year, an increase of 40 percent over last year’s pace.

“I just feel like every day, there’s something new,” Chicago Cubs manager David Ross told WMAQ-TV in Chicago on Monday when interviewed about unrest in the city.

Though general crime hasn’t spiked in major U.S. cities, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and San Antonio have all seen murder rates climb by more than 25 percent compared to this time last year, The Wall Street Journal reported. Police in Oakland, Calif., investigated three homicides that occurred within just seven hours on Monday. Louisville, Ky., surpassed its total murder ...

"The effects of sin on the understanding. It has dimmed and benighted man’s leading faculty, the understanding, which should show a man the difference between good and evil, and guide him in the way in which he should walk. Now it is too often an ignis fatuus (will-o’-the-wisp) which leads men into bogs and ditches, into errors and immoralities. Sin has blinded man’s understanding, and made him ignorant. It has depraved his understanding, and made him a fool.

(ii) Sin has darkened man’s understanding. Poor man is wise to do evil, but to do good he has no knowledge (Jeremiah 4.22). There is none that understandeth, viz, as and what he ought (Romans 3.11). All the workers of iniquity have no knowledge (Psalm 14.4). Poor man is covered with Egyptian thick darkness; he is said to be not only dark, but darkness in the abstract (Ephesians 5.8), and, sadly, he is in love with darkness (John 3.19), and his light is darkness (Matthew 6.23)."

I don’t live in a crime ridden neighborhood. But, if this should come to my door I will call the police and if they don’t arrive in time, I will put my 38 and my wife’s 380 to good use. If the criminal dies in the course of me protecting my wife and I, it will be their fault and not mine.

In a fallen world where moral standards are declining it is no surprise that murder is on the increase.

That's not the only kind of murder on the up!!!
"As the novel coronavirus continues to impact most aspects of American life, including health care, abortion funds across the country are reporting that calls for assistance have increased.

Abortion funds provide money and other forms of assistance to patients seeking abortions, including to help cover the cost of the procedure itself as well as associated costs like transportation, child care and hotel stays as getting an abortion for many U.S. patients involves traveling long distances to clinics and multi-day processes due to state laws."

I don’t think anyone will be surprised to learn that not one of the cities mentioned has a Republican mayor. Except for one Independent, all are Demonrats.
