Some professors and activists argue 2+2 can sometimes equal 5, a controversial claim recently brought to light in a series of tweets that has sparked a robust debate among education watchdogs and others.
The Twitter account Wokal Distance on Aug. 3 highlighted several screenshots amassed on the subject, noting: ‚ÄúThis is a screenshot of people saying 2+2=5 ‚Ķ Among them are teachers, educators, and professors who plan on teaching this stuff to your children. So let‚Äôs talk about what‚Äôs going on here, why they‚Äôre doing this, and how we can stop it.‚ÄĚ...
Math helps thinking. Thought is undesirable when it gets in the way of the desired outcome, which is creating a populace of unthinking drones. Therefore cancel math, or make it meaningless. It's too black and white to be useful to the cause.

It's arguments made of spider webs to feed us lies made out of spider and viper eggs. It's Isaiah 59, Brothers and Sisters. So of course they don't believe in any universal truth. It is increasingly hard because truth seems to always be subjective today -- look at any discussion of COVID-19 and you'll find a wide variety of opinions. Why? Because we all expect the truth to be subjective and supporting someone's agenda. In other words, we don't know what is actually true due to the amount of doubt injected into the data and analysis. Expand that to math. Foolish (Godless) people was to inject this doubt based on a false sense of racism into mathematics. In other words, someone else's truth can't be mine because I'm against that person who said it was true, even if the results are repeatable and provable.
I think this is a larger issue than 2+2, and one we in our camp need to pay attention to in how we deal with others. Still doesn't mean I'm accepting much from certain posters here though, based on a track record of injecting doubtful info and analysis into these boards.

Those who believe that truth is progressive will by their own definition never arrive at absolute truth since by their own definition their truth is subject to change; therefore it can‚Äôt be absolutely true. So simply ask them if they are absolutely sure there is no such thing as absolute truth. They can‚Äôt say yes to this question and they can‚Äôt say no. If they say yes, then they are contradicting their thoughts because they are saying they are in fact ‚Äúabsolutely sure‚ÄĚ of their statement. If they say no, then they are directly denying the assertion they just made. That means their position must in fact be wrong. They base this thought in the concept that truth lies within each of us individually and therefore what might be true and binding to one person isn‚Äôt necessarily true and binding on someone else. This could easily be thought of as the agnosticism of truth.

which is absurd since Indians and Arabs love to point out their cultures' contributions to mathematics, e.g. our decimal number system and the work of this man: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_ibn_Musa_al-Khwarizmi
