Mental illness is 'likely to be accentuated' by Covid-19, says Christian psychiatrist
One of the UK's most distinguished psychiatrists has welcomed the advent of online psychotherapy as a potential life saver. David Enoch, who has 65 years of active clinical practice under his belt, has worked hard over the years to present a credible and attractive Christian voice within his profession, authoring such acclaimed works as Healing the Hurt Mind, I Want a Christian Psychiatrist and the foundational Uncommon Psychiatric Syndromes (the 5th edition of which is due for publication in January 2021).

I spoke to my good friend David following the publication of his blog last month, 'Online psychotherapy for the COVID era: digital healthcare with insights from Auschwitz?', on the Mental Elf website, which exists to "facilitate a democratic conversation between patients, clinicians, researchers, carers, policy makers, health and social care professionals and others."

"I have been a ...

I’ve had depression on and off for 39 years. The first bout was after surgery 39 years ago. Post op depression, seems that other cases due to brain injury or illness. A contributing factor is how stressful a person is during post illness or surgery. All I can say is if a family member is coming home from surgery or recovering from illness or severe injury- support and help them get back to a mandible routine and keep things simple. Wife, husband, parents now is not the time for drastic changes. Please pick battles wisely and if it isn’t a hill to die on , don’t. For those recovering, work at recovering, do your physical therapy, get back to work and school as best as possible, see your doctor and expand your Christian faith. Go to church, build a wholesome hobby and limit electronics and phone and computer to use only when necessary. Go to bed early, eat good food and keep moving. I found that reading my Bible and praying to be lifted from depression- Works. Physical pain will cause more depression than ugly people- but ugly people don’t make it easier.

When you compare how mentally "ill" behavior resembles Biblical descriptions of those possessed by demons, it's hard to resist concluding that modern psychiatry has its own "mental illness" in its materialistic denial of the spiritual and assertion that environmental/biological elements are solely responsible for insanity. They would never allow that narcotic abuse, for example, might open the door to fits caused by demons.
Quite so, bro. I am convinced of this also.

For some unknown reason, about 95% of christendom does not really and genuinely believe in devils (demons). Sure, they were around on the earth in Bible times, but not now, not in the 21st century. Of course, some of that 95% believe that the devils have not died of old age, but are too frail to really do anything now, they are semi-retired or fully retired.

Ahem. Obviously never had a fight with one.

Of course, a lot of those who do believe that devils are alive and kicking, have never been taught that the Christian has authority through the name of Jesus to deal with these nasty things.

Which leaves (oh boy) the Pentecostal and Apostolic believers.

It's not hard to shoot down secular psychology anyway, being grounded in the fallacious Scientific Method and reliance upon patients telling the truth.

In the process of responding as Christians, we shouldn't feel need to hide truth. None of what is happening is because we follow Christ, for it isn't believers alone subject to it. It isn't suffering for Christ, but for accepting lies, or at least bad thinking. The unsaved are dealing with it as well. The heading says people are having mental issues that are likely accentuated by Covid19. No, Covid 19 isn't responsible for mental issues. But an irrational disconnected-from-reality response by authorities, some of them without authority, and continual propagandized harping about numbers of cases, and mask wearing gibberish could certainly cause ongoing stressful conditions with corresponding mental problems.

A lot depends on how we take afflictions that come our way because of "the authorities". The scriptures always have an example for us. Note,

Acts 16:22-25 GNB
(22)  And the crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas. Then the officials tore the clothes off Paul and Silas and ordered them to be whipped.
(23)  After a severe beating, they were thrown into jail, and the jailer was ordered to lock them up tight.
(24)  Upon receiving this order, the jailer threw them into the inner cell and fastened their feet between heavy blocks of wood.
(25)  About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

To maintain spiritual equilibrium in the midst of great suffering is noticed by outsiders, and God can use such in their conversion. "The other prisoners were listening to them..."

Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow, or the next day. And if we have any cares, to cast that burden upon God, because he cares for us. We have peace with God, but also the peace OF God. Thou shalt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.

It is hardly surprising that during this whole COVID19 affair managed by globalists and petty tyrants, both medical and political, that there has been an increase in both physical (non-COVID-19) and mental illness. Firstly doctor’s surgeries were closed overnight, hospitals closed except for COVID-19, and now in hospitals medics, patients and visitors must wear masks at all times and in all areas, leading to a terrible dehumanising effect. Outside all social functions, (except for leftist protests), have been closed down, social distancing, which is not natural for humans has been drummed into people, all parks, etc., listed down, people thrown out of their jobs, businesses shut down, many never to reopen, dehumanising masks have to be worn everywhere and of course aided by the deafening silence of church leaders, churches have been closed, or subject to ridiculous restrictions, even being told how to worship, and banning core activities. Yes, in many places, lockdowns have eased, but there is always the threat of a new one, and the coming mandatory id marker vaccine with aborted baby origins!! No wonder there is mental illness!
