Trump denies Minnesota governor's request for $500M to repair damage from riots
President Trump has denied a request from Minnesota’s governor for money to rebuild parts of Minneapolis that were destroyed during the riots following the death of George Floyd.
“The Governor is disappointed that the federal government declined his request for financial support,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's office said in a statement. “As we navigate one of the most difficult periods in our state’s history, we look for support from our federal government to help us through.”
Walz, a Democrat, asked that Trump declare Minnesota a “major disaster” zone in a request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency on July 2 after more than 1,500 buildings were damaged by looting and rioting in the wake of Floyd’s death, totaling over $500 million in damages.
At least one Republican in the state had lobbied the Trump administration in opposition to the request, arguing that the state’s response to the...

Frank: I appreciate your personal conviction and advice on being tactful. Your ideas about Trump are not what I'm critical of, as they are logical and make sense. Others often only bring up the fear of Socialists taking over, in order for me to take Trump's side. Well, I believe the Socialists have taken over; with Massachusetts and mandatory healthcare for all, overflowing welfare, leftism abounds in personal life, etc. There's an 'abomination of desolation' within critical thought these days and our language has been breaking down. Perhaps this is like the Tower of Babel in a way. Well, God has come down in the form of the Gospel to exact judgment.
The Quiet Christian: Your Presbyterian breakdown is insightful. I'm desperate to find a good Reformed Baptist church. The only one near me which is amazingly KJV/Textus Receptus (great for me) yet he is constantly, actually relentlessly, pushing a weird doctrine. (I would use the 'h' word, yet I think I've been censored for saying it.) Thanks for the Aquila Report suggestion. I check in every so often. ReformationCharlotte is one that recently came to my notice, as the leftist and subversive r/Reformed (Reddit) recently banned the site.
What gets me Dr. Tim is the Governor of Minnesota went to ask for money. Boy, he never met my daddy, if he had set fire to the barn. He’d have learned real quick to go to work and build a new one for all the mess Him , his little brother Jacob, BLM, and the communist Democratic Farmers Party had caused Dr. Tim- any good sermons you could recommend, your latest listened too?
Now WFP, you stop trying to inject logic into the situation! Next thing you know you’ll be advocating common sense, and you know how loathsome that is to liberals.
Why doesn’t Minnesota take the money to defund the police to pay for their bills. Or bake sales, or defund the school system since it hasn’t met since March, or from hospitals or wherever it hurts. Bye Jacob.
Remember Steve Irwin, the “Crocodile Hunter”? Steve insisted on playing with deadly creatures, and it eventually cost him his life. Minnesota voters insisted on playing with deadly creatures known as liberals, and it cost them half a billion smackers. Sorry, Minnesota, but you asked for it. Not a nickel of my tax dollars should go to pay for your idiocy.
Frank, I appreciate your honesty in addressing the President & have to agree. At best, he is a mixed bag. I do appreciate some of the decisions he has made. His behaviors...not so much.
Hey Yo, I'm with you as a Calvinist but looking for something more than what the OPC or PCA have become. There are not a lot of alternatives out there and it depends on the individual church. The PCA is rooted in the South and has been attempting to address racial reconciliation for some time. The OP came out of the Modernist-Fundamentalist debate but landed not quite so fundamentalist; and about half of the PCA did too thru a round about way. I appreciate our Baptist brethren as they sometimes display better discernment when addressing the world. Have you considered a Reformed Baptist church? We've received many recommendations to seek one out. They are few and far between in our neck of the woods.
About the only thing I say about Trump is he is an immoral buffoon. I have said that so often that I now mostly don’t. A lot of people could be a type of antichrist depending on how you discern that. I have no idea what the "root retweets" are; I will google that.
I voted for Trump because I knew he would pander to conservatives. Because of that I thought just one little baby in the womb might be saved And, I will in all probability vote for him again for that reason. It helps that I always remember that there is "none good, no not one".
There is never a time when truth should not be spoken. I am sometimes guilty of appeasing the truth, but you are very correct. Christ never spoke untruths because if was efficacious or kinder.
I have said repeatedly that the riots have nothing at all to do with racism. Their sole purpose is to undo our democracy and set up socialism. Now this doesn’t mean that our democracy is pleasing to God.
From your post, it appears we are on the same page on many of these issues. I will start reading your posts more from now on. The ones that haven’t been censored.
But perhaps you need to be more tactful. That has been my downfall from the beginning.

I compared Trump to a 'type' of the Antichrist. (The infamous Root re-tweets.) And then posed the question about a Christian's discernment... any Christian's, on the matter. I try to have the utmost respect for any soul I encounter. If I did not have any 'love' for strangers on here, I would not speak out or challenge them.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Also, everything is happening so fast that it feels like there is almost no time for pleasantries. The truth must be spoken and with urgency. For instance: I listen to pastors like Sam Adams of Independence Baptist Church... even though I am what is called a Calvinist. Adams called the protests outright riots, which is what they are; and condemned BLM. (A month before others.) And then I turn to conservative Presbyterian pastors and many are completely like this: 'Let's have a robust dialogue with these protesting fellows.' The world is literally burning and leading men want to dialogue with the Devil.

I didn’t think Trump would do that, but I agree completely with him. The citizens of Minnesota elected their representatives and their representatives simply stood by and watched the destruction that took place. How they could then ask for my tax dollars to fix what they allowed to happen is almost a joke.

500 mill is a lot of money. That’s about 300 times the value of our house.
I enjoyed that joke, QC. And if our culture continues seeking the “ammunition” (happiness, wealth, etc.) and not to correct the problem (pride, selfishness, etc.), our country is doomed.
