Christianity Today Calls for Reparations from Churches: 'Repentance Is Not Enough'
The president and CEO of Christianity Today says in a new editorial that churches should consider making “biblical restitution” to African Americans for the sins of slavery, segregation and racial injustice by setting up financial funds “to make it right.”

“It’s time for white evangelicals to confess that we have not taken the sin of racism with the gravity and seriousness it deserves,” Christianity Today’s Timothy Dalrymple writes in the editorial under the headline, “Justice Too Long Delayed.”

“... [R]epentance is not enough.” ...

Perfect! Why should my wife and I be deprived of our finances for reasons we had absolutely no control or responsibility over.

Come to think of it, since the worst offenders are perceived to have been Southerners in general, and Confederate soldiers in particular, I think it’s poetic as well as legal justice to make all reparation payments in Confederate money.

The federal government could award each documented descendant of slaves a hundred billion dollars. After all, the government can never run out of money as long as there’s paper and ink. And printing lots and lots of money is a sign of a robust, healthy economy. Just read up on the Confederacy or the Weimar Republic.

I have no Christian reason to repent or pay any reparations to anyone who was wronged by my distant relatives or by my government. I have never owned a slave, harmed a black person, or did anything that I would consider to be racism.

Asking for reparations from me would be the same as asking for reparations from catholics because of the inquisition.

I truly think it's time to change your name. Heresy of the Day should fit. I used to get notices from you on email until I realized you didn't know what you were talking about and unsubscribed. My Great Uncle died in the Civil War. My Great grandfather fought in five major battles. Did you guys forget the lyrics to the Battle Hymn of the Republic??? "As HE died to make men holy, let us die to make men free! While God is marching on." You have no right to call yourself Christian. Our Country is suffering because it has failed to Honor God, and His Bible the Truth of God to try to please and follow the culture. Your part of the problem, not part of the solution. What the Christian Church needs in America is Biblical Truth from Gods Word. Not a bunch of opinions and heretical apostasy. That reparations story today is beyond belief. Do you go out and find people who do not know the Word and promote them? Why don't you try sticking to the Word. Maybe people would actually read your magazine. Start following and obeying His Righteous law. The Pop-Culture Church today is not the Church of the Bible. God does not bless lawlessness, nor disobedience to His Word, nor sin. Whats going on now in our country is first a warning to the Church to get back on track.

Reminds me the hypocrisy that comes out of the basement of Lincoln, CNN, Socialist breathing grounds of College Campuses & the New Cult of BLM. The problem isn’t Race or Skin color it’s Sin!

You have silence for 14 centuries of Islamic Slave trade that still goes on or the Sex Slave trade, etc. As it’s all about narratives, for political gains & make money off pushing lies!!

As the Bible makes it clear we are our own wrost enemies from within as we are defilied from within!

O’ how precious it’s for Christ dragging one out of their spiritual pit of spiritual bondage of deadness that only Christ can do for one, O’ thank You Lord amen!

If you can't get money out of dead people, Jim, then reparations are impossible based on Biblical principle.

I'm not saying that racism hasn't continued, but the actions in your posted article hasn't legally happened in 155 years in this country.

Revelation 7 shows a huge group of Geniles of all nations and peoples and languages gathered together and in white robes before the Throne. Ephesians 2 closes with a description of how faith in Christ reconciles peoples. Those are better articles to consider than your liberal postings.

Though I now suspect the Reparations crowd really want to enslave or kill White Men, not merely take their money, as the Final Solution to "reparations." I would've dismissed this thought not long ago, but not anymore.
Not, really, Neil, you can't get money out of dead people. but the first part of your comment was very interesting to me since I'm only of Northern extraction anyway, in fact a great...uncle of mine fought for the Union. so Southern reparations sounds great

I would suggest you read the article by Ta-Nehisi Coates --
https://tinyurl.com/y6j2pskl
--I think I might have to warn you there might be a rough word or two when he quotes somebody--- it's so long I'm not sure I remember right❓ Also it has some of the most fun graphs before the covid-19 ones became prevalent since the article. Mr. Coates would probably want Northerners to pay something also❗👎

I wonder if France and England can demand reparations for all the white slaves that were taken from their countries and sent to Africa Muslim domains. A good book on the subject is called "White Gold" by Giles Milton. Your public library might have a copy, and you better check it out before it disappears from the shelves.

""churches should consider making “biblical restitution” to African Americans for the sins of slavery, segregation and racial injustice by setting up financial funds “to make it right.”"

Obviously yet another Politically Correct Liberalist satanic organisation masquerading as "Christian"

Like the Anglican/Episcopalian Liberalist mobs they are UNBiblical and faithless.

In their religion they deny repentance to "please" sinners and sodomites etc etc.

Eph 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as MENPLEASERS; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and NOT TO MEN:"

The phrase, "repentance is not enough" - Shows them to be illiterate and ignorant of Bible doctrines.

GOD is Sovereign in the whole history of creation. ::-
God is sovereign over the entire universe: Ps 103:19; Rom 8:28; Eph 1:11
God is sovereign over all of nature: Ps 135:6-7; Mt 5:45; 6:25-30
God is sovereign over angels & Satan: Ps 103:20-21; Job 1:12
God is sovereign over nations: Ps 47:7-9; Dan 2:20-21; 4:34-35
God is sovereign over human beings: 1 Sam 2:6-7; Gal 1:15-16 ....

"STOP" trying to make GOD apologise for history.

Approximately 155 years have passed since the Civil War ended and Emancipation was universalized a few years later. Jim, these were not yesterday, and making these continual racist claims is repugnant.

If we are to help "people of color," that starts by getting involved in their lives. I think sharing Christ is one of the most important things we can do. I also see a role for discipleship and the building of family units and small business. But this stands in opposition to the Tim Kellers and LBJ's warriors on poverty who see socialism as the answer.

Book-length article❗

Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote:

Perhaps after a serious discussion and debate...we may find that the country can never fully repay African Americans. But we stand to discover much about ourselves in such a discussion—and that is perhaps what scares us. The idea of reparations is frightening not simply because we might lack the ability to pay. The idea of reparations threatens something much deeper—America’s heritage, history, and standing in the world.
The early American economy was built on slave labor. The Capitol and the White House were built by slaves. President James K. Polk traded slaves from the Oval Office. The laments about “black pathology,” the criticism of black family structures by pundits and intellectuals, ring hollow in a country whose existence was predicated on the torture of black fathers, on the rape of black mothers, on the sale of black children. An honest assessment of America’s relationship to the black family reveals the country to be not its nurturer but its destroyer....

Excellent points, Humble One. Clearly it is Marxist with a specific agenda that isn't the establishment or restoration of God-ordained rights for a subjected people but a remaking of society according to their philosophies and doctrines.

I think CT has few readers, so it is like their other 'scare' stories that have been featured here. Just go back and read one of them and try to think...what difference did that make? did anything change as a result?

In this Chinese Cultural Revolution, every black person is a saint that needs to be paid by every white person just for inhabiting the same country. It doesn't matter that the white person might be a recent immigrant--he is standing on roads built by slaves, using goods transported by railways made by slaves, etc. REmember "you didn't build that"?
The corollary is...whatever problem you have, addiction, wife beating, having 7 children with 7 different women, etc. can all be blamed on your skin color.
The solution is...all whites must pay reparations, and whites are not allowed to debate the issue because they would only show themselves as racists.
all this shows you that this is not an American-led movement but communist, because that is the way they move.
Any Jews remember the NIght of Broken Glass? It's the same way today with this movement.

The federal government has exchanged 14 trillion dollars to poverty programs since the 1964 voting rights act. We continue to provide housing, supplemental income healthcare ,educational services , and daycare as an ongoing provision of the federal government assistance program. I know of people who pay less than 150$ a month to live in 150k homes due to HUD. All the while families are making mortgage payments on the while their note at 1500$ a month. How
much more reparations does this need to happen? I wouldn’t doubt the “ worship leader” will in a 2 hourr propaganda speech start telling independently financed Baptist churches,” in response to my support to BLM , “ I am directing your church start funneling money away from the Great Commission to support the Great Society... or JD’s going to be mad”.
