Minneapolis City Council: dismantle the city's police department
"We committed to dismantling policing as we know it in the city of Minneapolis and to rebuild with our community a new model of public safety that actually keeps our community safe," Council President Lisa Bender told CNN.

With nine votes the city council would have a veto-proof supermajority of the council's 13 members, Bender said.

Sunday's pledge was an acknowledgment that the current system is not working, Bender said.

"(We need) to listen, especially to our black leaders, to our communities of color, for whom policing is not working and to really let the solutions lie in our community," she said. ...

Even in Minneapolis, Mike, there'll be some sort of police force.

Maybe old Joe still has some smarts. Maybe he can still do math, and has figured out that the call to "defund" is mostly noise, and doesn't add up to votes in the presidential election. And it will cost him union support. Joe needs votes, not noises. He needs to be perceived as a centrist, or he won't even come close.

Dismantling the police with cause soldiers to patrol our neighborhoods. This Chinese communist plan needs to start by removing all security from politicians who support this lunacy.
On the other side , seeing the man with the “Black Trans Lives Matter “ walking behind Mayor Babyman is pretty much a good reason to avoid thiat state.

They aren't the only ones. Some in high places would like to keep the social class distinctions in whatever shade they come. Envy can be powerful, but when the poorer classes move up, especially among different skin colors, it becomes more difficult to play the envy card between them.

Did you hear the news item about how only 20 percent of blacks think that the US has made progress on this issue of civil rights/racism since the 1960s?
I looked it up and found a Pew Research article from 2016 showing only 8 percent agreed with that statement.
For me, it shows you that blacks and whites live in separate societies.
I did notice last year during MLB games that there were very few black spectators.
More MLB players are coming from the Caribbean and Venezuela than from blacks in the US.

Leftists care more about "Thought Crimes" than mere felonies. After all, you have no property rights; even the RCC agrees, in principle.

I appreciate your historical perspective. As you likely know, London had one of the 1st organized police forces, but have you heard of the Bow Street Runners? Comic novelist Henry Fielding organized this even earlier, back in 1749, while he was a JP[!]. Cities back then were very dangerous places, esp. at night before gaslighting.

The American frontier had Vigilance Committees and Posse Comitatus in the absence of more organized law enforcement, but these were not always scrupulous. If informal justice can be abused by conservatives, imagine how these fool Leftist alternatives would work out!

However law enforcement is organized, the vital element required is a keen sense of justice. And that, I found, is very lacking in America these days, even among Christians since they are not taught to take Biblical Law and justice seriously in church affairs despite 1 Cor. 6.

This wouldn't be the first protected class with their own police force. The Indians have the same. The missing women statistics are sky high on the rez and they always holler that the federal gov. doesn't do anything when literally the fed has no operational grounds on the rez. You can't win even when you give them what they want. Crime will soar if BLM gets their way but, somehow, it'll still be the white mans fault. Personal responsibility is non existent. We don't have to suffer the consquences of our actions in our self gratification world.

The Minneapolis city fathers could be allowed to suffer the consequences of their choices. Sometimes that's the only thing that brings adolescent behavior into grownup world. Liberal left world thinks people are good. Lawless world would teach them otherwise. Bailing them out of their foolishness with outside law enforcement will teach them nothing. They'll just start staging the pallets of bricks again.

The danger of all this in the localised federal system you have in the USA, is that as local Democrat and leftist cities yield to the mob, disband their local police forces, the alternatives for not look too inviting. There is some talk, I understand in some places of replacing the armed professional police with “community patrols”, something like those ineffective unarmed watchmen we had from the 18th century, in Britain, with I guess the not so local county sheriffs and state police filling in the gap for the more serious things. The unpopular federal authorities would also have to be more involved.

The reality is that militants and unofficial vigilante groups from both the ethnic black and the Muslim communities, as well as some other groups, would end up in taking over the day to day policing of certain areas, turning them into no go zones and no doubt their brutality and rough justice could well make the abolished police departments almost gentle in comparison. This is a very dangerous situation, and not at all desirable.

In some ways this reminds me of the 18th century here in Britain. Police forces as we know them today was an early 19th century innovation.

In the 18th century there was a great deal of lawlessness, particularly in the cities. In the country areas, the squire who usually owned most of the land in the village, also often functioned as a JP (Justice of the Peace) or local magistrate (more serious cases went on to the more major prisons, and the Court of Assizes with professional judges), while in the cities was a band of completely ineffective and unarmed. watchmen. There was major disorder and drunkenness, thieves, footpads and highwaymen abounded everywhere, but if they got caught, penalties were savage, the death penalty, transportation or imprisonment with hard labour being usual.

Tragically the churches were often totally dead, but praise to the Lord, the Methodist revival broke out, and those that were literate were exposed to the Bible, and also to the Puritan writers of 100 years or so previously.
