BET founder Robert Johnson calls for $14 trillion of reparations for slavery
Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, told CNBC on Monday the U.S. government should provide $14 trillion of reparations for slavery to help reduce racial inequality.

The wealth divide and police brutality against blacks are at the heart of protests that have erupted across the nation following last week’s killing of George Floyd during an arrest in Minneapolis.

“Now is the time to go big” to keep America from dividing into two separate and unequal societies, Johnson said on “Squawk Box.” ...

If there were a White Entertainment Television network, I wonder how long anyone would listen to its founder? Gotta love double standards.

I appreciate the comment from Common Sense. The Lord Jesus not only reconciles us to the Father (vertically) but one to another (horizontally) - Ephesians 2 pertains.

There is a movement under the heretical guise of critical theory or critical race theory that those "with" owe those "without" for somehow hogging up the opportunities. Under that thinking, Mr. Johnson owes everyone in poverty because he worked hard and the Lord worked through Mr. Johnson's hard work to build something. I'm not qualifying the quality of Mr. Johnson's work or I'd find myself on that slippery slope with the author of Psalm 77, just considering the sleaze forwarded by media in general and I assume BET.

I wonder if the founder of BET will also seek reparations from his ancestors' fellow tribesmens' descendants because their ancestors kidnapped and sold his ancestor into slavery in the first place? I wonder what the poor founder of BET would be doing today if his ancestor had stayed in Africa? I wonder if he regrets being here? Must be awful for him.

I am perfectly willing to pay restitution to all of the slaves that I have owned.

Though sadly temporary, this was a more fitting restitution for American slavery, which stole the lives of millions of Africans and destroyed their families. Too bad it was countermanded by President Johnson, a Unionist Democrat.

can we take that reparation money and balance it out against the destruction of decades of riots and death and send you the 2 cents remainder or will you be big and let that 2 cents slide ? ^^

Pray that we use this crisis to tell people that the answer is neither at the right or left but He is up...the only place of equality is found in Christ.

Of the 34 U.S. states in 1861, nineteen were free states and fifteen were slave states. Two slave states never declared a secession or adopted an ordinance: Delaware and Maryland. Now all 50 (plus territories) must pay reparations?

According to the 1860 census the population of the United States was 31,443,322, in 33 states and 10 organized territories. I doubt any of them are alive today.

In 1860, at the start of the Civil War, the Black population increased to 4.4 million. Most were slaves, with only 488,000 counted as freemen. At the time of this census my patriarch was a 14 yr. old slave in NC. By the next census he was married and had nearly 100 acres given him by the son of his former master; he and the son were the same age, playmates, and friends.

I watched Mr. Johnson's interview yesterday evening and he had suggested that each Black person receive over $350,000. I wonder what the cost of looting and rioting over the years would amount to per person.

I love America. I have never heard of any other country in the history of the world who has gone to war against its own race on behalf of another. Wasn't the shedding of blood enough? Wasn't welfare, economic zones, hate crimes laws, grants and scholarships, and race preferences enough? Isn't freedom enough?
