Democrat governors get sued to allow worship this Sunday
Two churches in Southern Oregon are challenging Democratic Gov. Kate Brown's executive order limiting the size of in-person religious gatherings to 25 people.

In California, a lawsuit by the South Bay United Pentecostal Church against Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals also ruled against the church Friday.

In Nevada, Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley plans to resume services in celebration of Pentecost this Sunday despite the governor's ban on large gatherings. ...

Hey Jim, just too help you out, the title of that article you posted ( "Republicans Still Skeptical of COVID-19 Lethality") needs to be corrected in order to be completely accurate. It's not just a republican thing, it's a science thing.

“Open for business” ultimately rests on how open a congregation wants to be open. If you have an at risk population, be cautious. But if not, come up with rules that allow people to worship. But as a deacon reminded me, the at risk population pays the bills. Keep them safe from Mr and Mrs “ we come to church sick and dirty “ .

Is it a good idea to sue that they might be allowed to attend services? The concept of allow vs not allow in the matter of freedom of religion being determined in a government court is flawed for starters. It gives a credibility where one does not exist, by continuing an erroneously implied idea that that right is from government. It grants to the court, in effect, the idea that it is ok if they decide on an issue they have no authority to decide. It ends up
putting the defensive burden on those doing the suing. How is that a good idea?

I heard a good one on the news last night. A man said that 40 people could be one a city bus together but couldn't all get off and walk into a large restaurant then socially distance and eat. Same argument applies for churches. Wayfarer used the Walmart example more recently. At some point, we have to stop kidding ourselves that it's about science or even public health and safety. Mike is right. It's about power.

Another howler:
"Republican respondents may know the correct answer but provide the incorrect answer to demonstrate their support for the Trump administration or because they just tend to view national conditions more positively when a Republican is president."

Pot calling the kettle black. BTW, this should lead one to conclude that no political poll can be trusted, even if those financing the poll might be (implausibly) neutral entities.

I don't participate in phone polls anymore, even "friendly" ones, as they are a waste of time given the unbounded number of questions they ask.

Democrat governors in general like control. They need it as much as a druggie needs a fix. Their lust for power is an addiction. Little of the special efforts to limit church meeting has anything to do with disease. They are just expressing their devil-directed anti-Christ attitudes. May their voters recognize the reality, and send them to retirement rehab. When does pleading with an addict to stop being an addict so you can live your life work? Care need also be taken when taking them to court, for neiither will it be useful if the judge is also a power addict.

Two possible explanations exist for this enduring misperception. First, Republican respondents may know the correct answer but provide the incorrect answer to demonstrate their support for the Trump administration or because they just tend to view national conditions more positively when a Republican is president. In survey research, this is called expressive responding or partisan cheerleading. The other explanation is that debunking misinformation is difficult once believed. The results captured in these Gallup/Knight surveys cannot distinguish between the two possibilities, but the implication of either explanation underscores the power of partisanship and politics even as the public health emergency has unfolded....

...Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, confirmed that the death rate is almost certainly higher than the official count. Such differences suggest the coverage by different news outlets shapes the way Americans understand basic facts about the coronavirus.....

A short, good article from the Gallup Association, please show the Democratic Governors have it right.❗👍
