‘Bible must not be treated as hate crime’
The Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI) has called for a guarantee that quoting the Bible will not be treated as ‘hate crime’ under new laws.

The Department of Justice commissioned a review of the current hate crime law in Northern Ireland last June, and a public consultation on the issue closed last month.

PCI said that freedom of speech must be protected in any new legislation.

Hey-yo from North East- We are actually dealing with two separate countries here. The Presbyterian Church quoted here, as also the Anglican, Catholic and Methodist Churches are organised on an all-Ireland (two states basis), and are generally separate from England, Scotland and Wales, (I.e. the rest of the United Kingdom).

The two countries are Northern Ireland, still a part of the United Kingdom, usually ruled by a compulsory coalition of Democratic Ulster Unionists (want to continue in the U.K.), and Sinn Fein, Republicans who want to join the Republic of Ireland. When the coalition failed last year, Westminster imposed temporary direct rule, and forced abortion and “gay marriage” on the reluctant province!! Northern Ireland has now left the EU, like the rest of the U.K., and has a sterling currency.

The Republic of Ireland is a totally separate country, has left its Catholic roots, is totally secular, is in the EU and uses the euro. However, separately it does have a sort of customs union with the UK, and at present both countries are now the same as far as abortion and “gay rights” are concerned.

How Westminster Parliament deals with morals and therefore can eject the Biblical doctrines.

Quote::
"Religion and morality are not synonymous. Morality does not necessarily depend upon religion, though for some, this is "an almost automatic assumption." According to The Westminster Dictionary of Christian Ethics, religion and morality "are to be defined differently and have no definitional connections with each other. Conceptually and in principle, morality and a religious value system are two distinct kinds of value systems or action guides." In the views of others, the two can overlap. According to one definition, morality is an active process which is, "at the very least, the effort to guide one's conduct by reason, that is, doing what there are the best reasons for doing, while giving equal consideration to the interests of all those affected by what one does."

Even though I'm ignorant of Ireland's laws; couldn't that government just pay lip service and say the Bible won't be persecuted.
Yet, go out into a major city street and quote Leviticus 18:22 for a little while and see where that gets you.

And while I'm glad there is a fight for the Bible, there are too many loopholes as well. Such as:
Which Bible version is considered the Bible?
Should government make a list of acceptable "Bibles"?
And so on.
Again, it's good to fight for the Bible, yet are the Presbyterians creating an issue? This is why I favor the stand of staying away from government, even to my own damage.
Bible as hate speech? Good, as the godless government should never be at peace with Holy Scripture.
