Churches may reopen, but many services won’t have singing?
“Singing together in congregations is a practice that we dearly love and are eager to promote, but loving our neighbor is job one here and so the time for fasting from this wonderful practice may be longer than any of us would like.”

His unprecedented words of warning come as religious leaders have received jarring predictions from scientists well-versed in virology as well as vocal practices. Webinars, videos and texts are circulating across the globe as scientists reveal their studies, and clergy must consider what to do with the results of those reports. Some church leaders aren’t yet sure what to do when they reopen, others are designing multiphase plans, and still others are moving ahead with their traditional practices of praise. ...

Of course if you don't sing a hymn at least once a week you will lose your salvation.

"But," saith another, "How can this be, when God hath not mandated the singing of hymns within the church?"

"Ah," saith another, "It is a matter of relative truth; you have your's, I have mine."

"But," saith another, "I cannot lose my salvation because I AM A CALVINIST!"

And behold I awoke, and it was all a dream.

Sing anyways. Are the church members going to drag you out of service? Will the state bar the doors? Meet elsewhere. It's your duty to disobey unjust laws. Logic says if covid19 is a good enough virus to prevent singing than we must ban it altogether because there are other contagious, even deadly to some, viruses out there.

Great point, Kenny. With the demise of corporate worship, exchanged for mass entertainment, too many don't sing anyway. It's a sham.

Chris GP, I know that Bill Gates and wife do not have a good policy towards abortion, but I hear that that's been put in abeyance to help support the fight against the pandemic.
Ben Gilbert wrote:
▪︎As the coronavirus pandemic has spread around the world, with millions infected and thousands dead, billionaire Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has pledged a quarter billion dollars to combat the disease through his foundation.

▪︎Gates has been an advocate for pandemic preparedness for years, and his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is contributing financing to several coronavirus vaccine initiatives. He famously gave a 2015 TED talk warning of the potential devastation caused by — and urged readiness for — a worldwide pandemic.

▪︎Those factors are behind bizarre new conspiracy theories that claim Gates is responsible for the coronavirus pandemic and have rapidly spread from fringe conspiracy theorists online to conservative pundits.

My church, which doesn’t do live-streaming, (but the pastor is recording a weekly video sermon from his study each week, which is on SA), does not have choirs, vocal soloists, but only congregational singing of traditional hymns, using a hymn book, accompanied by a venerable pipe organ, and when the organist is away, a computerised piano with hymn tunes pre loaded!!

According to some of your tyrannical governors and mayors, restrictions on churches could last for a year or even 18 months, until a vaccine is produced (mandatory?, Bill Gates?), and the ban would in many cases cover all live vocal singing, all wind instruments, but also the sacraments or ordinances of baptism and communion. I believe this is clearly unacceptable, but I do think that most evangelical pastors here will simply jump to, and obey immediately.

"Ignorance is bliss" seems to be the model of some religious leaders who follow politicians who are completely ignorant of religious and worldly facts.

John 8:29-32

29. He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.” 30. As he spoke these things, many believed in him. 31. Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Here in Atlanta, this won't pose much of a problem. Singing in most "churches" now consists of an overbearing rock band screaming the same mindless phrases over and over and over while the audience (I won't call it a congregation) bounces and wiggles. I am completely serious.

Be afraid. The message of the church in 2020? Sheep follow their shepherd. Maybe they should reconsider who that is.

Restore miraculous healing to the ministry of the church and there would be none of this. I don't know how you would do that, mind you.

Flute and oboe players are the dangerous ones--- probably
Robin McKie wrote:
Kähler said the virus was probably spread among chorus members because of their close proximity to each other before and after rehearsals and performances. As he pointed out: “These outbreaks among choir members all occurred during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, before lockdowns were imposed and before our minds were concentrated on the importance of social distancing. Choir members probably greeted each other with hugs, and shared drinks during breaks and talked closely with each other. That social behaviour was the real cause of these outbreaks, I believe.”...
