'Very little confidence' that Dead Sea Scrolls collection authentic, SWBTS says
Pieces of papyrus sold as rare fragments of Dead Sea Scrolls to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary a decade ago are "likely fraudulent" and the seminary might seek financial restitution, the school announced in a statement Monday (April 6).

"The Dead Sea Scrolls fragments were acquisitions of the prior administration," the statement said. "Because we have had very little confidence in their authenticity, the fragments have never been on public display since the arrival of the new seminary administration in February 2019."

The six fragments were purchased in two separate acquisitions in 2010 during the presidency of Paige Patterson, with seed money from Texas businessman and then-SWBTS trustee Gary Loveless. While the former and current SWBTS administrations have declined to reveal the purchase price, comparable pieces -- although revealed to be forgeries -- have sold for millions of ...

Oh, and another good thing to do, while you're at it, is to make an intense study of liberalism within the Church of England. Check out the literature of such men, especially their Bible expositions, and convince yourself that they did not know Jesus Christ, they were never justified through faith, they were unregenerate and deceived impostors, and to respect them as having any authority in the matter of Greek texts is showing a lack of wisdom. Drs Westcott and Hort come under this category, men whom I have no respect for.
On the dot, John. Thank you

Cont.

It is well known that Origin was the greatest textual critic of the early Church, directing the production of the massive Hexapla ("Sixfold"), an Old Testament in six columns: Hebrew, Hebrew in Greek characters, the Septuagint, and the Greek versions of Theodotion, Aquila of Sinope, and Symmachus. This was an immense and complex word-for-word comparison of the Greek Septuagint with the original Hebrew Scriptures and with those other Greek translations.
Herein lies the DNA of what we today refer to as the TR or Textus Receptus or "received text" which is the source for the Geneva Bible which America was founded with by the pilgrims seeking to escape religious tyranny.

The purpose of Erasmus and his work was to correct the corrupt Latin Vulgate which dominated the Roman Catholic Church for a thousand years. Erasmus, with Greek manuscripts compared to the Vulgate, found many discrepancies and concluded that over time the scribes in the RCC had not been faithful which yielded a corrupt Vulgate.
In 1516, Erasmus published a Greek-Latin Parallel New Testament with his own fresh rendering of the text from the more accurate and reliable Greek which had come from the manuscripts that escaped from Constantinople in 1453 of which he had six to work from. All were dated from the 12th Century or later and was the work of scribes in Constantinople from copies of what had been housed there from the time of Eusebius of Caesarea in the 4th century. All through the 'dark ages' the city of Constantinople continued to speak 'Greek' as their primary language which enabled faithful scribes to maintain the language. Eusebius was the benefactor of receiving from Origen his private library which Origin had given to the Christian community in Constantinople.

Dear Mr Boyd, why are so many people trying to defend the modern bibles, when they are clearly based on the work of 4 liberal theologians, 2 Anglican liberals from Cambridge (Westcott and Hort), one of them by the way was involved in spiritism, (he ran a “Ghostly Guild” or psychical research society), and 2 Continental liberal theologians, Nestle and Aland, and based on two texts, one from the Vatican Library, and the other discovered in a waste paper basket of a Greek Orthodox monastery in the Sinai desert.
Yes, God is sovereign, and people can be saved through preaching from the modern Bibles, if the preacher or pastor is evangelical enough, but why use something deficient when you can stay with a much better and more solid translation.
The 17th century translators of the KJV/AV were brilliant and godly men, and were not employed by publishing companies anxious to make a profit and establish a copyright trademark.
Many people all over the world prefer to use the KJV/AV if their church uses English, even if it is not their first language.
Thank you, brother, for this mighty defence of true facts.
It is deplorable to observe the crowd of slanted preachers towards the matter!!!
Every blessing

If folks understood the real history of the Textus Receptus and the KJV, they would be more hesitant about condemning people who are trying to get as close as possible to the original manuscript texts. They would stop elevating Erasmus to the equivalent of an apostle.

There are many dear pastors and famous Bible expository preachers, (and sadly including my own otherwise very traditional non-modern non-charismatic pastor), whom generally I respect, but whom somehow seem to have stumbled by rejecting the Greek Textus Receptus / Hebrew Masoretic Text Bible ( KJV - AV ) of the Reformers and Puritans, and somehow got bowled over by the Codex Sinaiticus / Codex Vaticanus Alexandrian texts of the liberal scholars Westcott & Hort / Nestle & Aland which the modern Bible translations are mainly based on. It absolutely staggers me!!

The expression, "The grass is always greener...etc...etc."......

.....applies also in the case of Bible manuscripts and translation. Silly people seem to think that one day there will be a translation in English which satisfies them. They live their life (a bit like many charismatics) always waiting on something going to happen when God does some new thing.

What a waste of a life. Always waiting, never doing.

Hey, you've got a King James Bible. Read it and do exactly what it says, even if others think you a fool. It is the word of God. Obey God, obey Jesus, obey the voice of the Spirit. Get your doctrine from the Bible. Get your church structure from the Bible. Get your separatism instruction from the Bible. Get your meat from the Bible. Get your drink from the Bible. Get your marching orders from the Bible. Get your worship hymns from the Bible (the Book of Psalms). Get your sanctification from the word and the Spirit. Get going with Jesus and never look back.

Remember Lot's wife!

And this comes right after the frauds at the "Museum of the Bible".

Do you think that the Dead Sea Scrolls in Israel, Jordan and elsewhere will be legitimately investigated?

Especially after we changed our modern Bible translations to conform to this lie?

No.

It doesn't really matter as we gave up on the truth when we openly despised the uncorrupt and doctrinally perfect King James Version (and related Textus Receptus Bibles in other languages) and turned to modernist lies.

Thank-you Evangelical movement for turning the Reformation upside down for the sake of numbers and revivals.
