Americans are underestimating how long coronavirus disruptions will last, health experts say
Public health experts are increasingly worried that Americans are underestimating how long the coronavirus pandemic will disrupt everyday life in the country, warning that the Trump administration’s timelines are offering many a false sense of comfort.

Coronavirus cases are expected to peak in mid-April in many parts of the country, but quickly reopening businesses or loosening shelter-in-place rules would inevitably lead to a new surge of infections, they said.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country are only now implementing restrictions and others have not yet ordered the closure of non-essential businesses, creating a patchwork response that will slow progress toward the goal of driving down transmission of the SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. ...

They are trying numerous approaches, and the article describes the various ones. A vaccine still probably won't be ready until 2021. This articles is from Australia but I heard Bill Gates say the same thing yesterday.

No, WFP, countries and Southeast Asia which expect pandemics did not suffer greatly, such as China, South Korea, Taiwan because they expect pandemics
Laura Strickler, Hannah Rappleye, Dan De Luce and Ken Dilanian wrote:
In a sign that the hospitals could not imagine the magnitude of what they are facing now, 86 percent of hospital administrators told the HHS inspector general in October 2018 that they felt "prepared" for an infectious disease outbreak. More than 90 percent had purchased additional supplies, including personal protective gear.

But hospital chiefs at the time said they were not focused as much on dealing with an emerging infectious disease because they were focused on the possibility of an active shooter or a natural disaster. One official noted the difficulty of "budgeting funds for the 'what ifs' when there is only so much money available and there are other priorities you know will happen."

However , countries with socialized health care have suffered greatly. Not enough of anything to treat anyone. China sold back the equipment that Italy sent to China. When we’re in a big group hug with China ( socialized medicine for the few and well off) we sent tons of medical equipment to China. We’ve off loaded our medication production to India and China to save money?

But, Adriel, this is being done by a liberal government, and the USA's response from a federal level is even less, so the Swedes' have to be on the right track

Johan Ahlander, Philip O'Connor wrote:
...Swedes are able to go to restaurants, get a haircut and send their children to school even as the number of confirmed cases and deaths have mounted, above all in Stockholm which accounts for more than half the fatalities....
But Sweden’s liberal approach, which aims to minimise disruption to social and economic life, is coming under fire as the epidemic spreads in the capital.

“We don’t have a choice, we have to close Stockholm right now,” Cecilia Soderberg-Naucler, Professor of Microbial Pathogenesis at the Karolinska Institute, told Reuters.

But Sweden has.more deaths per other Scandinavia countries. If you have an older or have a population of underlying circumstances, you might be in trouble. But, I think, we’re not going to see over 100,000 deaths, at least I hope not.

Not all countries have shut down.

"What measures has Sweden taken?
Unlike in most European countries, Sweden has not closed shops, restaurants or cafes.

Primary schools are still open, although high schools and universities are moving to online teaching.

There is no limit on leaving the home or going outside, with Swedes merely advised to keep their distance. They have also been told to self-isolate at any sign of coronavirus.

Among the stricter measures are bans on gatherings of more than 50 people and on visits to nursing homes.

People over the age of 70 and in high- risk groups have been advised to avoid contact with other people." (

It will be interesting later in the year to find out who was right about this.

Hopefully by the fall, we’ll have medical trials available. The press , celebrities and WHO can praise China all they want, but this virus started in Wuhan. So, if it’s brewed up in a lab, this Frankenstein isn’t leaving for a while.

I feel very sorry for those who might be loosing their jobs over all this. And some businesses can hang in there for a little while but if it goes on too long they might have to close for good.

Our little store has been busier than ever. We sold completely out of some items and then we discovered that our suppliers are out of stock too. Customers have expressed over and over that they are thankful for our presence. I guess we were the last ones to run out of things. We’re just glad to be a blessing to the community.

So for now we plan on continuing as usual until we’re told to do otherwise. We are disinfecting things which are handled frequently by customers, and we wash and sanitize our hands often too. We will be closed Friday noon for Good Friday. God’s blessing to all this week.

Dr. Fauci wrote:
Fauci says the prospect of a resurgence is the reason the U.S. is working so hard to get its preparedness "better than it was." He says that includes working to develop a vaccine and conducting clinical trials on therapeutic interventions.

Fauci also says states that don't have stay-at-home orders are not putting the rest of the country at risk as much as they are putting themselves at risk.
