Inaccurate Virus Models Are Panicking Officials Into Ill-Advised Lockdowns
So why is the organization or seemingly innocent online mapping tool using inaccurate algorithms to scaremonger leaders into tanking the economy? Politics, of course.

Perhaps the goal of COVID Act Now was never to provide accurate information, but to scare citizens and government officials into to implementing rash and draconian measures. The creators even admit as much with the caveat that “this model is designed to drive fast action, not predict the future.”

They generated this model under the guise of protecting communities from overrun hospitals, a trend that is not on track to happen as they predicted. Not only is the data false, and looking more incorrect with each passing day, but the website is optimized for a disinformation campaign. ...

Thought I'd check in here to see who believes all this nonsense. Apparently a lot, sadly. See the website. A good collection of non-State approved links that tell a different story.

I don't believe half of what I hear from the media anymore, for not only are the incentives to tell lies legion (either unstated fiscal/power agendas, or the more traditional, Hearst-style Yellow Journalism), the fear of God that has sometimes restrained many from doing so before is gone.

Given the ethical depravity of late, I expect most journalists will accept bribes to publish falsehoods by interested parties like the Clintons, Soros, gov't agencies, or market manipulators. And the "scientists" whom they quote likely have Conflicts of Interest.
The evil fruit of Edward Bernays!

Last night the local news reported that a county bordering ours has 39 cases of coronavirus. What they failed to mention is that there are 295,041 residents in the county who do NOT have the virus. Although I would never want to ignore the impact this disease has had on so many people, I think the media could say that the sky is dark without constantly yelling that it is falling.

From the article:

"COVID Act Now predicted that by March 19 the state of Tennessee could expect 190 hospitalizations of patients with confirmed Wuhan virus. By March 19, they only had 15
patients hospitalized"

When you need something, just yell louder.

"Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer cited COVID Act Now when telling her state they would exceed 7 million cases in Michigan, with 1 million hospitalized and 460,000 deaths if the state did nothing."

7 million out of a population of 10 million. We should believe that, right? Without looking, I guessed she was a Democrat. Actually it wasn't much of a guess.

In the past two weeks, the US has seen a spike in coronavirus cases and, according to a Reuters tally, has now passed both Italy and China, becoming the nation with the largest number of confirmed cases. Even when taking into account that the numbers reported by the Chinese government can’t be trusted, the US is still currently facing the most rapid spread of the virus anywhere on earth....
Health care experts who spoke with the Post also agreed that the US faces a grim reality. “Even under the best scenario, we are likely to surpass Italy very quickly, Prof. Semra Aytur, Public Health Policy expert from the University of New Hampshire, told the Post. “Unfortunately, there were some mistakes made early on with the inability to test enough people and also the failure of deploying medical equipment where our healthcare workers are going to have consequences that will last for quite a while,” she said....
