'Lives Worth Protecting' – Trump Admin. Backs Ohio Down Syndrome Abortion Ban
The Trump administration Department of Justice is urging an appeals court to uphold an Ohio law banning abortions based on a Down syndrome diagnosis, saying the law affirms the “integrity of the medical profession” and protects individuals from discrimination based on a disability.

At issue is a 2017 Ohio law prohibiting doctors from performing abortions if the doctor “has knowledge that the pregnant woman is seeking the abortion, in whole or in part” due to a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis.

Although a three-judge panel on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the law in a 2-1 decision last year, the full Sixth Circuit took up the case in what is known as an en banc hearing. ...

May God help you with your child! I am also a parent of a child with disabilities and know it can be challenging and frustrating at times.

May the Lord encourage the Saints to, Rejoice in the faithfulness & goodness of the Lord. As their is no King but Christ Alone amen!

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.

PS 73:25-26 Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee. My flesh and my heart faileth, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.

Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. The Lord truly deserves the credit. He guided and still guides us enabling our child to come a long way. He must have worked overtime on me. The quip that the Lord "does not give us more than we can handle" isnt something that we've found to be true. We have found instead that that hasn't given us more than He can handle.

The first thing my dear wife taught me when it became apparent that our child was not typical was to grieve the loss but to look for the strenghtens and celebrate those. Parents with a child with DS have a more difficult time, but we have know a few people with DS. Life is not easy for them or their parents, but we have been blessed simply by knowing them.

Quiet Christian, your family has been surprised by joy. So many people, Christians especially, are trapped by confusion and conflict and need consider this life’s challenges as a path to joy,( if in Christ). I want to remember your comment , because I often fall into the selfish mindset.

John 9 opens with statements of misunderstanding and accusation against a man blind from birth and his parents that the Lord quickly dispels. Our child isn't blind and doesn't have Down Syndrome, but we deal with struggles that our child had from before birth and has caused a non-typical development. It has never been easy, but my wife and I would not trade our child for anyone else. The Lord made everyone with a specific purpose. While these children may not grow up to be rock stars, super models, or software engineers...people the world values...they will always be people of value because of who God made them to be, even in an unredeemed state if that be the case.

Some posters here have questioned whether parents should follow through with having a child with DS. Another has challenged our child's autism. Let me tell you all this from experience - the Lord provides beyond what we can imagine to enable us to be the parents we are called to be.
