Survey: Most Pastors Don't Connect World Events to Second Coming of Christ
US Protestant pastors are closely monitoring the recent events in the Middle East, but many don't believe it will influence the return of Christ.

A new study from Lifeway Research reveals that most pastors believe the return of Christ will come about by Christians spreading their faith rather than because of certain geopolitical changes.

Scott McConnell, executive director of LifeWay Research said, "While Scripture specifically says we cannot know the day or the hour of Jesus Christ's return, we were interested in pastors' views on whether Christians can play a role in bringing about that return any sooner."

The study shows that one in 8 Protestant pastors agree that Christians can speed up the second coming of Christ by supporting geopolitical changes mentioned in the Bible. ...

...Many dispensationalists were hesitant to link current events with Scripture in a precise way, for they viewed their system as a “futurist” one: none of the prophecies regarding the last days would be fulfilled before the rapture. Biblical prophecy remained something that pertained to the future, and these dispensationalists sought to distinguish their eschatology from “historicist” views that attempted to find prophetic fulfillment in the present age, an endeavor that many dispensationalists found both dangerously speculative and biblically unjustified. However, in the 1970s, a number of writers blurred the line between these futurist and historicist perspectives by seeing events of the mid-twentieth century as, if not fulfillments of prophecy, then at least as developments that set the stage for the prophetic drama.

Joel...

The Bible doesn’t teach it for starters!

TD - We are accept or reject the gospel message. We are accountable for our actions.

UE - Elction is conditional. If you repent and believe, you will be saved. Faith is the condition.

LA - Jesus was sent for the whole world that whoever believes may be saved. Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world.

IG - Many people in scripture resist God’s grace. It is for us to decide who we will serve. Therefore, choose life.

PS - One out of five is a bad batting average, but this one is correct.

There is nothing 'not biblical' about that, Joel. It is entirely biblical. And I like your preference for preservation rather than perseverance. We are preserved in Christ Jesus, and thusly we persevere in the faith. All of Grace. Amen. Praise God! And Hallelujah!

Without His righteousness and only His, I will not enter eternal life! Not to mention the whole fact that if someone pays your speeding ticket, it doesn’t mean you aren’t still guilty of speeding! That’s why when people pay there ticket, there insurance still goes up. You have Jesus paying the penalty for your sin while you yourself are still guilty of sinning. Kind of pointless!

What you are feeling is pretty typical of those who live in a Calvinistic bubble. If anyone quotes the Bible to them and it doesn’t line up with what they were taught by men, then that person bringing the gospel truth must be a demon! You are playing into the Calvinist stereotype, but that’s your free choice to do so! Funny how the Biblical and traditional viewpoint is now considered demonic by Calvinist! Especially when one considers Calvinism is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Saint Augustine and really only took hold of the church about 500 years ago. I guess everyone was demonic 1500 years before Calvinism came along!

The cross proves Jesus was sinless and didn’t take on the culpability of anyone else’s sin or else He would not have been raised. He would still be under judgement. He was called the spotless lamb for a reason! It seems to me to be a system of works to say that you are saved because of what God did in paying the punishment for your sins. What about all of the other time you did not sin? It becomes God plus you’re works will carry you to eternal life. It’s a system of getting to eternal life by how you lived your life with Jesus filling in the gaps. I depend on being in Christ who alone is righteous. Without His righteousness an

J4, I see that you ignored my friendly warning and are continuing to post up dribble and utter nonsense, disrespecting the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore I will waste no more time on you. I will not respond to any more of your posts, and you can read this as a judgment of God upon your soul.

In you is fulfilled the following texts:

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 KJV
(11)  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(12)  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Luke 13:7 KJV
(7)  Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

God isn’t proven anything. He is omniscient. I was speaking about us. The death of Christ proves who He is because it was foretold in prophecy. His resurrection is proof to us that He was righteous and met all of the requirements of the law. Jesus was not guilty of His sin or anyone else’s or He would have remained dead.

“how Jesus proved His innocence”???
Does your god not know that Christ was not guilty?

God sent His Son to be the only perfect sacrifice - For His elect.

These plans and decisions were made before the foundation of the world.

I’ve never said that I don’t believe God forgives sins! You, on the other hand, must believe that there are no sins to forgive if they were somehow punished at the cross!

The cross is how Jesus proved His innocence before God because if He was guilty of sin, He would have remained in the grave. However, Jesus didn’t remain in the grave. That is because He alone is righteous. Only sinners will be eternally punished by God. Jesus was not, is not, and never will be a sinner deserving punishment.

J4, you just have to accept it, that God forgives sins and imputes righteousness. Note,

Romans 4:22-25 KJV
(22)  And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
(23)  Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
(24)  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
(25)  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

John, if you continue to disrespect the Lord Jesus Christ, I will cease trying to help you. I see demon-dribble and it reminds me of not casting pearls before swine.

The preaching of the cross is the heart of the gospel. Deny that at your own peril.

1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV
(18)  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:23 KJV
(23)  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

If you wish to be saved John, you must go to the cross, and see a substitute for sinners dying there in their place, bearing away their sins.

If you cannot see that, you will never be saved, for it is the only way.

Where do I get that from? You have said that Jesus had to pay whatever penalty was due to a person for their sins to be forgiven. Therefore, a person would have all of their sins forgiven and there would be no need for forgiveness or imputed righteousness because that person would already be in righteous standing having no sin held against them.

In your convoluted logic, what would be the point of having Christ righteousness imputed to someone if they are already righteous because He paid the penalty for their sin?
John, once again you are showing that you do not believe the gospel. You have been sold a pup and bought it.

If I sinned 10,000 times and the Lord Jesus Christ forgave me for all those sins, that would not make me righteous. Where do you get that from?

Sin is disobeying the law; righteousness is obeying the law.

I have disobeyed the law; Christ is the only one who has obeyed the law.

Therefore........yes, think about it!

My need is forgiveness for disobeying the law, and the righteousness of Christ imputed (credited) to me (justification) so that God can count me as righteous and the demands of the law are satisfied. Both are received through faith, and faith is the gift of God to his elect.

I am not saying you are not elect because you do not have faith, but the fact that you argue against the truth does not bode well for you. If you keep pushing away the remedy, you will never get healed, and God will call you a fool.

The punishment Jesus suffered was physical death on the cross. “Cursed is everyone who hangs on tree”. Not in my place because I deserved death while Jesus did not. Nowhere does it ever teach in the Bible that Jesus suffered the everlasting punishment for anyone’s sin or that anyone is righteous due to their meritorious standing with God, having Jesus somehow perfected the requirements of the law within them.

In your convoluted logic, what would be the point of having Christ righteousness imputed to someone if they are already righteous because He paid the penalty for their sin?

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:13‬
Jesus laid down His life to redeem the world. That was the cost of it. Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world because He alone is righteous thereby appeasing the requirements of the law which God demands, in and of Himself. He is our propitiation. Those requirements are not met within ourselves by Jesus. Jesus Himself met them and nobody else meets them unless they are in the one who met them.
That's it, John. Now if you can believe that God punished his Son in your place; that he paid the penalty for your sins in his own body on the tree; that he laid down his life for the sheep; that his blood redeems and purchases......

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To ev'ry believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Forgiveness of sins is accompanied by justification (declared to be righteous by the imputing of Christ's righteousness). Both are received through faith.

Hey Saint John,
I hope your ailments from last week subsided. God's blessings to you.
Saint James, thank you.

I had a dash into the surgery, and put forth my woes, and I came out with a prescription which immediately dealt with the severe pain in the side of my back, and reduced the pains in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands, and knee joints.

I was also booked in for yet another blood test, and I will see the GP on Tuesday to see if the problem is due to inflammation.

Many aspects of life are very painful to perform still, such as getting dressed and undressed, but I remain cheerful because I am engaged in a work for the Lord which I can continue to do, even with all the trauma.

The Lord bless you too, bro.

John, study the passage, not give it a glimpse. You will see how it all pans out. Evaluate all the terms used, especially redemption. Did you know that redemption costs? Did you know that propitiation costs? Do you know who paid those costs? Do you know to whom those costs were paid? Do you know why there is a cost to salvation? You'll make no progress without the Spirit to teach you these things.

The err...nonsense, is getting pretty high from you. Did you actually read the passage? It says people are justified IN CHRIST! It is in Jesus that one’s guilt is appeased, it is the righteousness of Christ which cancels the penalty for one’s sin, not our own righteousness. We ain’t righteous!

The problem is you see Jesus as your Savior in the past tense based off of what you think He did on the cross. The Bible, however, teaches that Jesus is the Savior in the current tense because it is in Him that one is saved whenever they believe. You suppose He made you righteous by suffering all of the punishment for all of your sin, making you innocent. While the Bible teaches believers are saved in Christ by His righteousness because He alone is The Righteous One.

Oh please! FYI, Jesus died for the sins of the whole world without spending trillions of lifetimes in eternal damnation to do it. Secret...it’s not about you and your righteousness because you still don’t have any, even after the cross, it’s about Jesus and being clothed in His righteousness.
John, if you do a long Bible Study on these verses, taking note of the meanings of all the words, you will see your error.

Romans 3:24-26 KJV
(24)  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
(25)  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
(26)  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

The faith which saves eludes you, because man cannot produce it himself - it is a gift of God to his elect. You keep saying that mankind is free to believe, but you never define what man is to believe because you hold a false gospel which avoids 'redemption' and 'propitiation' and God being both 'just' and the 'justifier'.
