No One Wants Your Used Clothes Anymore
For decades, the donation bin has offered consumers in rich countries a guilt-free way to unload their old clothing. In a virtuous and profitable cycle, a global network of traders would collect these garments, grade them, and transport them around the world to be recycled, worn again, or turned into rags and stuffing.

Now that cycle is breaking down. Fashion trends are accelerating, new clothes are becoming as cheap as used ones, and poor countries are turning their backs on the secondhand trade. Without significant changes in the way that clothes are made and marketed, this could add up to an environmental disaster in the making. ...

My wife has been telling me for some years now that the quality of clothing she finds for us has fallen quite a bit. She equates it to a throw away society in which not even human life is regarded as anything special but just disposable. We don't apparently deserve anything of good quality anymore, and the least possible expenditure formthe maximum profitability is the mark of success. Once upon a time, we made and used things that were of a high quality as quality was the mark of doing one's best.

So what they are saying is that throw away clothing is really just that...And not fit for reuse thru many of the fine establishments which sell used items or apparently for shipment overseas. Many a bag have we placed in the AMVETS bin as they helped with a disability claim.

I think the Bible says God created them without any clothes. They were 'naked and not ashamed' meaning they formed the first NANA group.
Paul says that we should throw off everything that entangles us, after watching the Greek athletes of his days who competed without clothes on.
And who can forget the gyms in the YMCA, full of naked male bodies. No wonder the 'men who prefer men' liked to hang out there!

What would I do with a winter coat, Susan? It’s 70 degrees here. But my goats would probably like some leggings.

Don't you folks have anything better to do? Like sewing a nice winter coat? Or some warm leggings? Modest clothing is not much to be had second hand, especially for women, not to mention first hand...

But I did see a man walking down the street the other day in a dress...

This article heading is a big windy (that's a lie to all you Rhode Islanders and such). I wear hand me downs in fine condition almost every day so don't tell me no one wants your used clothes. Of course, one must draw the line at items such as socks, handkerchiefs, etc. The point is, as long this earth remains there will be folks wearing clothes from other folks.

Italian suits? I didn't know you ever wore anything except goatskin overalls and a possum cap. You must really be making some improvements Doc.

"No One Wants Your Used Clothes Anymore"

If us mississippians stop getting used clothes, than we wouldn't have much to wear...

To me, there is nothing better than getting a big bag of used coal miners clothes from out West. If you can get past the oil stains and coal dust, your dressing mighty fine in this ole Opposum Country...
