Hobby Lobby unabashedly celebrates Christmas with full page ad about ‘Christ the Lord’
Arts and crafts store Hobby Lobby ran a full-page advertisement in newspapers across the country this week celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and directed curious viewers to a helpful website.

The ad features the words, "It's a boy" against a blue backdrop with the text from Luke 2:11, "Today in the town of David a savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord."

"This ad serves as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas and celebrates what millions of people around the world and for centuries have considered a turning point in human history—the birth of Jesus Christ," Hobby Lobby said in a news release. ...

Douglas, are you referring to the religion of the "masses"? Most secular newspapers are all pretty much run by the same people.
Most, probably, all are junk "food" that is tainted, at that. I am sure that they won't omit "christmas" and "easter" in their publications as they are very precious to those who are carnal.
The true word of God would be most unwelcome unless it is dispersed amid false doctrine and easy believism...something that is getting to be a trend on a lot of Christian radio stations..probably, all run by the same people.

Hobby Lobby also pays for a big, full-page ad in newspapers around Easter. This all reminds me of course, of the Good Old Days when newspapers used to carry a 'Religion' section, usually in their Saturday or Friday editions. A friend told me that in West Virginia, yes in the den of iniquity where they have state-sanctioned gambling, the local newspaper has this section, and it includes even the sermon topics. You could pick and choose which church you wanted to attend, depending on what sermon you wanted to hear.
How about your local newspaper? Does it have a section like this, or does your church have to pay for ads?

Barnes' New Testament notes wrote:
Acts 12:4
Intending after Easter. There never was a more absurd or unhappy translation than this. The original is simply after the Passover....The word Easter now denotes the festival observed by many Christian churches in honour of the resurrection of the Saviour. But the original has no reference to that; nor is there the slightest evidence that any such festival was observed at the time when this book was written. The translation is not only unhappy, as it does not convey at all the meaning of the original, but because it may contribute to foster an opinion that such a festival was observed in the times of the apostles. The word Easter is of Saxon origin, and is supposed to be derived from Eostre, the goddess of love, or the Venus of the North, in honour of whom a festival was celebrated by our pagan ancestors in the month of April. (Webster.) As this festival coincided with the Passover of the Jews, and with the feast observed by Christians in honour of the resurrection of Christ, the name came to be used to denote the latter. In the old Anglo-Saxon service-books the term Easter is used frequently to translate the word Passover. In the translation by Wicliffe, the word paske, i.e., passover, is used....)

Did your church have a 'watch-night' service last night? I have heard of some evangelical churches who do that and stay at church until midnight to celebrate together the entry of the new year.
Going back to the question of celebrating Easter, I know many Christians do not like to use that term because it has pagan roots.

What do you prioritize? Christmas, Easter, or the Lord’s Supper. Only one is commanded in Scripture—the Lord’s Supper. Many ‘Christians’ put so much more emphasis, time, energy, preparation, thought, excitement, and anticipation into christianized pagan holidays and rituals while ignoring Christ’s clear command to remember Him in His Supper. How many times have you missed the Lord’s Supper and thought nothing of it? How many times have you missed Christmas or Easter and thought nothing of it? See the difference. We highly esteem our man-made holidays but disregard the commandments of Christ! It’s not just a little nibble of bread and a little insignificant sip of juice. It’s a memorial to remember Christ and His love. Moreover, Christ commands that we remember Him in this way. We are so humanistic that we put more emphasis on our own ways of celebrating Christ than use the ways that He has laid out for us in the Scriptures.
Joel, I do not know how I missed this most excellent of posts. It is most thought provoking, and ought make all of us more sober in our desire to please the Lord and do all of his will.

Dr.Tim...if we go by Scripture alone, we will see that no one who followed Christ PRACTICED an annual observation of His Incarnation. No,NOT ONE.
We were told to glory ONLY in the cross.
We were told also how to remember Christ.
We were warned of following after holy days.. whioh makes a lot of sense, given that those who are saved have Christ in them.
Based on Scripture alone, it is foolish to go along with the festivities.
Even if you want to go along with a change of history from an outside resource, or history which you perceive as true, it is rather "coincidental" that the RCs love "christMAS" and that most of the carols written by THEM and others which Christians love to sing focus on a baby in a manger with Mary with many lyrics and ideas in them which are false.
One lie is NO GOOD and the general populace is not totally ignorant of the poetic license in such.

sc, you and others have said again and again that the Roman Catholics invented Christmas. Unless you were there when it happened, you really don’t know if they did or not. You are stating an opinion or at best an educated guess as fact.

I see megachurch pastor from Singapore, "Joseph Prince" has been emphasizing the Lord's Supper for a while.
And of course, Episcopalians, Lutherans and Catholic's have it every week. Should evangelicals do the same?
A friend told me of a denomination, 'Church of Christ-Disciples of Christ" I think it is called--that celebrates baptism like the Baptists, church govt like the PResbyterians, and the Lord's Supper weekly like the Lutherans. I guess they were trying to cover all their bases!

(Galatians 4:9-10), and in Colossians 2:14-16 Shadows became unnecessary at the cross. When Paul speaks of not letting others judge in regards to days, months and years, that is, feast days, (holydays) monthly new moon festivals and yearly sabbaths such as Passover, it was not to encourage the disciples to continue in the weak and beggarly but rather to abstain and not be influenced by those who still did.
And, of oourse, the obvious...they did not have appointed days to observe His Incarnation... Did you all forget how we were told to remember Him?
The RC church instituted the faux holy days..do we follow Rome or the Word?

If we had the substance, s c, we'd be in heaven right now. We have but a foretaste of the goodness that the Lord has in store for us by His Mercy and grace. Someday, the Lord's supper truly will be the marriage feast instead of a bite of bread and a sip of juice.

Celebrations of the Ressurection and memorials of the crucification point directly to the work Jesus came to accomplish by putting on flesh. The issue isn't whether we should celebrate only once a year but that we should celebrate every minute. Jesus is bringing me home by His blood, purchasing me. Hallelujah!

We have the substance...we don't need the shadow.
Easter in the kjv is not the resurrection of Christ but that's how the devil's church instituted it for us. Again, no practice of observing one day a year as the Lord's resurrection in the Bible..
We are not Jewish and we were told, specifically, how to remember Christ..it is not in christianized pagan days or Jewish holy days.
Christ is not honored by such nor is the world more readily transformed.

's c' if you are concerned about celebrating the winter solstice, then you need to check the formula for when Easter is set...it has a lot to do with when Jews celebrate the Passover.

The article about Hobby Lobby was quite interesting. I don't see where they put one up and the Lincoln star journal paper, or on its internet ad for Lincoln - but when I did hit the website for hobby lobby it did have the present-day Christmas advert for Christ Good show 👍⛅🙏
