‘The Bible Is Banned’ – China Shuts Down Churches, Threatens Christians
China’s crackdown on the booming house church movement continued this fall, with government officials raiding worship services and even telling Christians they could no longer read the Bible.

By law, churches in China must register with the government and join either the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (if they’re Protestant) or the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association. But because such churches face severe restrictions, millions of Christians have joined illegal, unregistered house churches.

In October, a house church in Jinan, Shandong province was ambushed by a group of local officials, according to the watchdog Bitter Winter.

“From now on, you are not allowed to meet here, nor are you allowed to read the Bible,” a local government official told the church members. “According to orders from the central government, the Bible is banned. You’re designated as a target of the campaign to ...

The tariff on printed materials raised the prices up significantly on Chinese printed bibles. But I think China has but 2 publishing companies allowed to print bibles and bible oriented books or sets of books. Irregardless, the words of God will not return empty.

Those who live in the US are used to seeing church buildings at major intersections of their cities, without thinking how that happens and what supports it.
One is the real estate tax system, that allows those 'registered' churches to not pay real estate taxes like the store or apt bldg across the street has to pay.
Also, zoning code allows for these places to happen where they are.
Just try holding a Bible study in your home where 20 or more people will attend. First you have to think of parking--is there adequate parking? Are they allowed to park on your lawn-probably not, zoning code restriction. Some will cite bathroom restrictions, how can 2 baths handle 20 people?
Then you have legal restrictions based on liability concerns--how will you keep out any sexual predators from your group?
And then there is the IRS (which we saw used during the Obama Regime to restrict conservative groups-those who say, Oh, there is no difference between Reps and Dems need to remember how bad things were during that regime).
There was a ministry here at SA that offered a weekly show, 'Heart of the Matter' that was mostly political discussion. It ended when someone added a comment about that church's 501(c)3 status (IRS code), how can it sponsor a political program?

Why do we embargo Cuba and not China?
Because they still print and ship the bible at the lowest cost. Cuba only has cigars and 1962 Chevys.

Supporting missionaries, or backing ministries in the govt controlled 3-self churches is a bad idea. We do need to pray for protection and grace for believers who do not submit to govt control and influence

Well, this is one way to encourage people to memorize the Bible! I think the Chinese govt has 100 percent control over the internet, so they can keep out any downloads of Bible online.

""government officials raiding worship services and even telling Christians they could no longer read the Bible.""

The communists are panicking again.

Communism is a worldly political philosophy and seeks to work against God and the Bible.

None of the worldly human convictions can defeat true Christianity though they will try. Roman Catholic ideology and Liberalism are a case in point.

The Chinese Church will have a struggle and will be persecuted by Satan and his followers. But .....

Rom 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."

2Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."
