Boris Johnson: Landslide Win
British voters delivered a stunning victory to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Conservative Party in Thursday's general election, giving the Brexit backer a large majority in the House of Commons and the support he needs to take the United Kingdom out of the European Union in January.

"The Conservatives picked up 47 seats," NPR's Frank Langfitt reports from London. "This is the biggest majority since Margaret Thatcher's win in 1987."

With almost all results in, the BBC projects that Conservatives will win an absolute majority of 78 seats in the 650-seat chamber, giving Johnson a firm mandate to form the next government. Johnson has been prime minister since July following the resignation of his predecessor, Theresa May, and called early elections in a gamble that he has won handily. ...

'Conservatism'?
A personal view!! .....
The political ideology of those who would
(1) Seek to maintain traditional institutions of social, political, moral and religious doctrines.
(2) Seek to be Right wing in opposition to Left radicalism.
(3) Essentially a 'management' style political ideology whereby the government is paternalistic of all parts of society rich and poor.
(4) A 'leadership' role of political administration rather than a marxist style populism.
(5) Democratic and Capitalist.

Sadly conservatism is as much a chameleon, in history, as the other political ideologies are. The toxic venom of Liberalism has infested modern conservative thinking, (and other parties) and had adverse affects on competent leadership, especially in recent times.

Disraeli's "One Nation Conservatism" was I believe correct. But Liberalism has infected it in modern times with an intrusive creeping sedition. (UK PM's David Cameron/Theresa May for example)

Carl,
All Democrats and only one independent obviously haven't recovered from 2016 election results yet.

And what's worse, A 2020 win for Trump has been sealed by the second rate clown show attempting to impeach based on irrational feelings and not hard nosed facts.

But what's even more worse is they think more impeachment lunacy will work against Trump when it really has been and will continue to be his best asset for re election.

Jim, of the three million more votes Hellery got, how many were from dead people? How many from people who voted more than once? And how many came from illegal aliens?

This is a good reminder for Democrats and, ahem, Left leaning Independents that attacking a leader has the potential to backfire. It is also a warning to Globalists that there are those who don't want to be part of the worldwide socialist government.

These so-called deplorables who support the President because he supports policies that support them economically and doesn't tear down their religious rights -- what makes them Non-Christian, Jim? Because they don't support liberal causes like universal healthcare or abortion on demand? I thought faith in Christ Jesus for salvation was the litmus test? Of course, the Holy Spirit will convict of sin like laziness and stealing others' money rather than working.

Timothy, I would rather say that Republicans, or more accurately, Trumpians should become Christians and become Independents

Oh and of course any candidate should have a cute lovable dog they can present to the press. This way they don't have to parade out their significant other, who may not be so cute and lovable, and it will appeal to a great variety of people.

I read somewhere that Donald Trump hasn't gotten a dog for the White House. Lucky dog.

Adriel, the Democrats in United States are not considered nearly as radical as Liberal Party is in England. Corbyn definitely was an old Socialist. But still some of the observations of the British election should be taken to heart by the Democrats in this country.

Carl, I am a registered Independent--- not a Democrat. Yes, Trump should have stepped aside and let the majority of voters have their way and Hillary Clinton be President❗ She got three million more votes than Trump got.

We also have a lot of British tradition, being a British colony at one time. We did not reject our heritage in total. I know nothing about the site but it seems to have done a fairly good job of discussing common law.

One thing, Boris is pro-abortion. Why didn't the liberals (Labour Party) make that an issue? Well, they were pro-abortion, too!
Like I've said many times here, Britain is so different from the US that there are few 'lessons' to be learned.
Someone here added a comment about where did we get our ideas to make the Declaration of Independence and Constitution?
Well, if you read them, the former was written to protest Britain's control (the King), and then the latter was written much later, and could not be based on the British Constitution because it is not written down!
Can you name any US Supreme Court decisions where they cited something in British law?
The Magna Carta underlines a cross the board the rights of modern government

Jim, question: Should the results of the British lopsided elections make you Dems here in America a little nervous. I mean, if you take the impeachment soap opera away from the equation then you would still have you Dems and media disrespecting the will of the people during the 2016 election; which is equal to what went on in Britain with the members of the Labor Party and the BBC. But now, with all the hearings and Dems talking of impeachment from day one aren't we looking at a landslide "whoopin" come November? Oh, and don't forget that the Durham report will be hit right before the summer conventions. Does anyone remember the Whig Party?

Jim;
Or has socialism been abandoned by the new Left ideology?

Socialism was/is all about fighting for equality within the classes, especially for the quote, "working Class" u/q.

Liberalism is more about fighting for individualism (relativism) and viewing all beings as entitled to equal status regardless of social position - or societal perceptions.
(or even genders)

Whereas socialism identified the classes as different in an accepted society structure and culture. Liberalism discounts the class system as irrelevant along with all traditional authorities and institutions which may be seen to divide.

The 'church' version of Liberalism for example is defined as :-
"a movement in modern Protestantism that emphasizes freedom from tradition and authority, the adjustment of religious beliefs to scientific conceptions, and the development of spiritual capacities."

God, Christ and the Holy Spirit and Scripture appear to be thus "traditional" and quote "adjusted".

Adriel, it was Boris' dog that guaranteed his win!

No doubt everybody knows how Boris was showing what a dog lover he was right before the election. Everybody knows that the British are the lover of mutts ❗ With a campaign picture like that, Boris naturally had to win.

American Democrats should take note, about picking unpopular leaders and taking extremist positions when it comes to the 2020 election. 👍

Now we can get out of the satanic federalist EU and back to a sovereign nation running our own affairs.
