President Trump tells large crowd that Jesus Christ is the true meaning of Christmas
On Thursday night, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump told a large crowd gathered in Washington, D.C., for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree that the biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ is the true meaning of the holiday season.

Trump also drew a connection between the occasion and the story of the nativity of Jesus as told in the gospels of Matthew and Luke that has been enshrined in the Christmas tradition

"More than two thousand years ago, a brilliant star shown in the east," he said. "Wise men traveled far and they came and they stood under the star where they found the Holy Family, in Bethlehem," Trump added, referring to the St. Matthew's account of Jesus' birth.

"As the Bible tells us, when the wise men had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him," the president continued. "Christians give ...

And of course you are so correct in saying the word of our almighty heavenly Father takes precedence over anything. Eve wanted what God said she shouldn’t have and here we are.
Are you getting nervous about your trip? I am praying every day for it.
The answer to everything in your post, fellow pilgrim, is yea and amen.

Hey brother! Just a comment to show my agreement with you. Eve was the first female to lead her husband astray and the curse said that women would desire to control their husbands, but "they would rule over them".
Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Adam was not deceived; therefore his sin was doing what his wife wanted him to do. Conflict in loyalties.
I'm pooped. We just came back from shopping for the family get-together on the 25th of December.
Hope you have a blessed day pilgrim!

Sobering thoughts, John.
Very relevant and, sadly, accurate.
I do thank God for those who are faithful and steadfast in preaching the Word and I really do appreciate your gracious tone and encouragement...very little of that to go around as well
Thank you SC, also for your encouragement in godliness, which exhortation is almost unknown here in Wales.

I remember as a young Christian reading this text....

1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV
(12)  Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

....and thinking, sure, if you are careful, you will never fall.

Ah, the naivete of the young Christian. Bold, brash, seemingly invincible; the devil won't pull one over on me! [What the young believer does not realise is that God has wrapped him up in wool because he is a baby and needs extra protection.]

In the OT it is often the wives who draw away the hearts of their men unto idols. And it is the same today. But if the man loves his wife in a wrong way, he may not like to rebuke and exhort her to godliness. He cannot bear tears, the Lord has softened his heart.

John, I pray so.. I truly want to honor God and His Word.
I feel this is the great need of the church today, SC. So many Bibles, so many men preaching from the Bible, yet the hearts of so many remain cold, even to the simpler things like this evaluating the worship which is ordained of God. And if we can't be obedient to the simple things, how shall we manage to keep the deeper things of God?

Where is God in all this? The living God, not the concept God. Jehovah, not the artist's impression of him. And the real Jesus? Is he outside the door knocking? Does the church no longer want him? Has the glory departed?

John, I pray so.. I truly want to honor God and His Word. There is so much compromise and deviance now. I truly believe that God has given us over to that which we love above his Word.
Something that you all probably know..but wouldn't "c mass" and "holidays" like it violate Biblical principles in simply that:
In the case of Jeroboam, for ex.- one took a pre-existing date of worship set by God and changed it.
In the case of "c mass"- one uses a pagan "holiday" and tries to christianize it.
Where as in a legitimate day of celebration for the Jews, like Purim, which is much like a day of Thanksgiving - there was no deviance from facts (actual date, ex.) and God's name is not misused.
Wouldn't that, alone,be enough reason to not celebrate these christianized "holidays"?
Perhaps this is just another barometer in revealing to us how much we love truth.
How we need Him!

Mike, a choice made from the sinful nature is never a good one; however, a choice made because God is working it, is always right.

Just sayin'.

tell me...how does one 'be holy'? What does one do to be pure, undefiled in the eyes of a holy God? The bible also says to believe on the Lord, can that be done on one's own accord as well? btw, it's 'sir'...If one thinks they can be holy, isn't that a work?

God would not ask us (command us) to be holy if as you say all our holiness came from Christ.
Sorry to tell you, but you are the person who has to sort out doctrine, you have your hermeneutics wrong. It appears you wish to believe in antinomianism.

It is completely true what has been twice stated already here and many times before also, that
" No Christian trusts in their own works. I have never heard anyone actually say that on this forum"
Yet we are dumbed as legalists!! Such misconceptions, madam

Yes brother, that also came out in today's fellowship over the word.

1 John 3:2 KJV
(2)  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Oh, to be rid of this awful sinful nature completely and forever. What joy this will bring and a worshipful heart of thanksgiving.

You remind me sometimes of Tozer, SC. You bring a prophetic word to the church; not a new revelation, but an application of an old revelation, suited to a modern circumstance. Of course, any who will do that, will be treated just as the Jews of old treated the men God sent to them with a message. It is rare for anybody to listen to what God has to say about anything.

A legalist is someone who says that one must do works to be saved. No one here claims that.
Those who love God will want to follow Him in Truth.
No one can or cares to address Scripture that counters the observation of what people call "christmas".
People in church will not even consider what they sing this time of the year. There is error in most all of these songs. Why is it okay to worship Christ in error?
We do not have liberty in that which God hates.
B Mc, Frank and John have well addressed the topic.
Compromise in Christianity in America abounds. God is allowing it. He gives us what we desire. Too bad, we don't count the cost.
We would do well to read the pure Word of God to see what happens to nations and peoples who have it their way.

Have a great day Frank, gotta go now.
I once worked with this fellow who claimed he was a Christian and yet he was shacking up with this lady. I asked him how he could do that and claim to be a Christian. He said that he was saved by grace and it didn’t matter what he did now; he had already been forgiven.

The above is an antinomian and has not been born again.

Yes, I have studied that verse.

I see...so I'm an 'antinomian' because why? What is the Gospel Frank, do you know? How many here are trusting in their 'works' or their 'righteousness' to help save them?
Has any here ever given the Gospel to Jim, or prayed for him?
Telling others that you prayed as the tax collector is a sign of 'humility'? oh boy....
The Holy Spirit said we should be holy in our living. IOW, we are born again, from above. Most of us, especially me fall very short of that. But, if Christ died for my sins, why would He say it is "okay" to continue to sin. Hence, my antinomian comment. No Christian trusts in their own works. I have never heard anyone actually say that on this forum?

Jim has been presented with the gospel many many times and many of us have prayed for him.

JohnUK Amen brother! I'm glad the fellowship was blessed today. When you are my age, you think a lot more about shedding this sinful flesh and being with the Lord. What a blessing that will be.
